awesome entrees, horrific service- not just anyone can be a great server.. last night in seattle so picked this place based upon previous good reviews of food. i applaud the cooks and chefs for they delivered on our expectations. halibut, ahi tuna, and salad courses were divine. bar was busy, lighting warm, and nice wooden booths. the service by server is another issue. i must give additional back story that my husband and i have over 15 years professional experience in the fine dining and restaurant industry so have first hand expertise in knowing when a restaurant delivers on the core principles of running a business: delicious food, immpeccable attentive service, and enjoyable environment. queen city grill had 2 out of 3. we were looking forward to an enjoyable night but had it ruined by an arrogant server who can't handle the basic elements of greeting your customers warmly, providing prompt and effortless service, and most importantly leaving your attitude at the door. our server was laxidasical at best, with no interest in making an effort to even do bare minimum of service his fellow servers and bus staff took better care of us as it was like having tables meant we were interrupting his social hour. it is an unfortunate trend we see in too many restaurants where the front of the house fails the hard working back of the house. a server needs to earn their tip, and we still gave our minimum 15%, but by not taking the time to check on us thought the night, and to just drop the check on the table without a word, he lost out on our additional order for after dinner drinks. just because we were not ready to order dessert when his coworker stopped by to clear our plates and inquired, did not mean we were done. oh well- his loss of a potential $40 tip by being short sighted and short on manners in his haste to turn a table. next time just get carry out!

filet done perfectly, the hunk of blue cheese awesome, the salmon so flavorful and worth the long wait for dinner to arrive. did not like the scallop appetizer will try something different next time! overall great food and bartender can mix great drinks originals upon request too!

belltown winner. a real standout in the belltown neighborhood, queen city grill offers a wide-ranging menu in a low-key setting, with wooden booths and a few white-linen-covered tables cozying up next to the expansive bar. my dining partner and i shared an appetizer--the wild mushrooms on a polenta cake with shaved pecornio, and we were sopping up every last morsel before tucking into our salads--the pear, arugula, pistachio, and goat cheese combo for him, and the truly spectacular grilled pineapple with spinach, macrona almonds, and coconut vinaigrette for me. we could have stopped there and been happy chompers, but we plowed ahead with the grilled ahi tuna and the duck breast. in both cases, careful timing in the kitchen had produced delectable results, and the presentations were lovely to behold. by this time, we were stuffed, but after three delicious courses, we were curious to see if dessert would keep to the high standards. although my partner thought the key lime pie could have been just a tiny bit more tart, i was pleased with the refreshing fruitiness of my blackberry sorbet. extremely prompt and attentive service made the experience a winner all around. we'll be back

caplanskys delicatessen toronto,ontario. went there last night only to find that they had run out of smoked meat. go figure a smoke meat deli with no smoke meat. to top it off the waitress sat us down and then proceeded to inform us. that was after i spent 22 bucks by cab to get there. they tried to pone off some other food but we left without eating.

came in by myself and the matradee was texting on my way in. server had great personality and one day will be a wonderful server with training and support. her knowledge of wine was limited. she was a busser and thdn s server for the past six months. after the fist glass of wine from the bottle i ordered i poured my own glass. when my ap arrived i finished it by the time i had a checkback. my entree waus about half done when i got a checkback. i dont blame the server. with five tables then being triple sat on top of those she needed help from the host who was nowhere to be found. and the barback rarely helped. there was only 4 people at the bar. why do you need a bar back instread of a host and busser. if it wasnt for the personality and overworked server this would of been a disaster. and the matradee is still hanging outside on his phone. is anyone going to help this server.

fabulous!. my dinner partner for the evening cancelled, so i ventured out on my own. as a lone diner, i've rarely been taken care of as well as i was tonight at queen city grill. the host specifically chose a table he thought i would like, there was no grimacing (as can happen) about seating a single person at a booth that could have held 4. the host checked in on me multiple times throughout the evening (and urging me, in a nice way, to eat my vegetables!).

the waiter was fabulous and did the same. he had lots of great suggestions for me, made sure my wine glass never ran dry, and when i hesitated about dessert, brought me some on the house.

the genuine friendliness and attentiveness would make me a regular if i were staying in the neighborhood. a really fun evening when i'd just brought a book along to keep myself amused while eating alone.

and did i mention the food and wine was great?

pleasant surprise. we were really surprised by queen city grill. we randomly picked the restaurant after reading the menu outside. the atmosphere is dark and intimate yet casual. we had a reasonably priced bottle of merlot from washington. had a really good caeser salad which they split for us without having to asking and didn't charge us for it (which is something restaurants like to do around here). crab cakes and salmon for the main course. my alaskan salmon was unbelievable! cooked perfectly medium and wonderful flavor. also amazing were the mashed potatoes! yum! i had been craving mashed potatoes. bf thought the crab cakes were just as good. we popped in on a whim and were not disappointed. will definitely be back.

terrible! sat for 20 minutes before our waiter showed up and instead of being greeted, he said "are you drinking tonight or not?" not quite the response we expected after waiting for him to show face. we then ordered scallops to start and waited another 45 minutes for them to sear 1 scallop and partially cook the other three, which weren't even cleaned properly because there was sand still in them. this would have been mentioned to the waiter, but we didn't see him again. my boyfriend had to go inside to request the check and it was another wait for that. when the check arrived, he didn't ask how anything was, but instead just threw the check folder on the table and walked away. this is service i would expect at hooter's or red robin, not at a place that seemed to be nice. will never return and discourage anyone from eating here. the poor food isn't worth the bad service.

corpse to drink?. good service. greeted right away and was seated in moments.
the server was prompt and knowledgeable. the food and drinks came out fast.
the food was cooked well. i was very specific about how the salmon was to be cooked and the chef delivered. the lamb was cooked medium rare to perfection.
i really enjoyed the corpse reviver cocktail. yummers.
the butter for the bread was so cold you could not spread it.
the bathroom was a little dirty and the hand towels are cheap and break easily.
i would go back. great experience.

paul stirfry. i had the sable fish dish at paul's stirfry iand it was great. a wonderful place to take food out and the price is affordable. a great healthy choice....

lasagna tasted just like chef boyardee...yuck!!!

horrible!. how can you say horrible with out being nasty? food was under thought and really not orignal. what they claimed to be prime meat was choice, and my medium rare was closer to medium well if not well done, they got it close the second time.

late night there is a crowd, and can be seen with the cougars and good drinks, livley scence. but jsut go for the drinks, not the food
