i was so impressed. not only did they go out of their way to cater for me especially, our waitress kelly was outstanding. the food was incredible and the view is breathtaking. the only qualm i would have is that they should consider maybe adding a few more vegetarian options to the menu as the choice is quite limited but as i said, they did make a plan especially for me which i found extremely thoughtful and accommodating. great place

we were really looking forward to our dinner at priva. however, we were sadly disappointed. the service was incredibly slow with a very inattentive waitress. the menu had been changed on the day and the restaurant staff were not familiar with the new menu. the shiitake steak was good. valhorna chocolate dessert was average. we were overcharged for a dom pedro. altogether, it was a highly overpriced affair. will not be back in a hurry.

if your preference is fine cuisine with a somalier to pair your poison with multiple courses, then priva is the place to be. their menu is selectively focussed on giving you decadence on each plate. the setting offers a skydeck with a view that is pleasant on the eye. be prepared to pay a tad more to experience gastric pleasures and the sky is the limit. set in the heart of waterkloof, priva is a must. i like!!!!!!!

we celebrated my mom's birthday here last night and had one of the best restaurant experiences ever. the service was outstanding. probably the best service in pretoria. our server, kosi was amazing. one of our favorite things about the evening was kosi's helper, jared, who was just so sweet, friendly and adorable. we all tried out the 5 course tasting menu which i cannot find fault with. my favorite dish of the evening was the pork belly with pumpkin tart. the deconstructed cheesecake for dessert was also fantastic. this is such a beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous bar. will definitely be back!

this hidden gem is a romantic, beautiful jazzy place with a stunning view overlooking waterkloof heights.

the seating is spacious and private and gives a fancy backyard vibe.

the menu offers limited options but with more than enough variety and each dish is creatively executed in a mastered and proven experimental way. it is clear each dish has been tried and tested.

the service is personal and attentive in an expert and professional manner, yet approachable. its always a pleasure to see the chef interacting with customers.

priva is definitely recommended for a romantic or relaxed and something different venue for fantastic food or even just a classy whisky.

i looked and evaluated but couldnt fault the restaurant in any way.

i took my bff for a celebratory birthday dinner and it was no mistake. the service was excellent. they are very accommodating when it comes to meeting requests. we were allowed to change the 5 course tasting menu to our hearts content. we had oysters for starters. fresh, delectable and interesting. the scallops were perefect but heaven knows what it was served with - can't remember except that it was not memorable. i then had duck breast. if you are ever thinking of trying duck for the first time, wait until the feeling passes, not worth it. my friend had the fillet. my gosh, what a divine plate of perfection. soooo full of flavor... the pork belly was next. i have dreams about that pork belly! melt in your mouth delicious heavenliness yumminess. i must confess, after all those fulfilling flavors, dessert was a little redundant as i wasn't in the mood for sweet anymore. i would also like to mention, it was a thursday evening and they had this amazing jazz band. though the band was almost right behind us, we never felt overwhelmed. really added to a super smooth atmosphere. i am so going back there.

now this may seem biased, as chef forti is one of my favourite foodies in pretoria, but this is hands down the best place for a sundowner, late-nighter, or an "impress the boss" kinda place to go. the massive selection of whisky (and whiskey) will leave you indecisive. the "champagne bar" (although novel) offers a selection of good quality local and international mccs. oh my word, not to mention the incredible nibbels that come from a tiny kitchen. i've been there on various occassions and we always gravitate towards the cold meat (charcuterie) platter to start off with. really food worthy of #foodporn.

this is hands down the best fine dining establishment in pretoria. we enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu (along with drinks pairing) for a celebration dinner and it was great. the live jazz added a beautiful ambiance. the menu is new and exciting without being inaccessible. it was downright tasty. it's definitely the kind of place you can spoil somebody at, celebrate at or simply kick back after work in the whisky lounge, with live jazz and a sterling cigar from their collection.

definitely worth a visit.

the only downside? the restaurant needs twitter and instagram so that patrons can post about their food. ;)

fortunately, i entertain clients fairly frequently, and from time to time find a hidden gem. priva gastrolounge is certainly one. a client, my wife and i dined at priva last night after being recommended by my client. we arrived on time, were quickly seated and offered drinks. we ordered a bottle of sparkling water, and a  bottle of wine from their extensive wine list. after our drinks arrived, the manager ran us through the menu, explaining that you can order smaller portions of essentially the main meals as starters or mains, or a combination of both. i love this idea, as so often i am torn between deciding what to eat and often end up with "order envy". we all chose to sample several small mains. the manager was extremely helpful in assisting us on the order of service and believe he was spot on. between us we tried:scallops: superbly cooked and very well presentedcauliflower: puree accompanied with lightly battered and deep fried cauliflower. you just have to try this as it was sublimecured salmon: overall, it was good, without being brilliantfoie gras: outstanding. perfectly cooked and a generous portionfillet: beef fillet with a soya cream. quite honestly the finest tasting fillet of beef i have ever had. it's worth going here just for this. i actually considered ordering another portion for dessert.chocolate sphere pudding: very good indeedcheese cake: a deconstructed cheese cake accompanied by rooibos caviar, and different jellies. again, this was sublime.if i have 1 complaint, and afraid its too common in south african restaurants. imported bottled water. why on earth would anybody support foreign sourced water, pay for it to be collected, then put on a ship, then put on a truck and then finally delivered to a restaurant here in south africa. not only does it increase global warming, but we have to payr50 for 750ml. common, support local bottled water producers!!now that that's off my chest, a final word about priva, the setting is great and they have live jazz from wednesday to sunday. i will most certainly be going back!!

wow.. high class food in a high class venue...fantastic service... comes at a cost, but worth every taste tingling mouthful... a foodies delight. we had the five course menu, which is more like eight with the amuse bouche, palette cleanser and friandese... don't be put off by their website which makes it look like a night club... it's not...

amazing atmosphere, with live performances on friday and a great view overlooking the waterkloof area. the food is by far the highlight of the establishment, with each meal being an adventure of exquisite taste. it's a rather expensive, but the experience more than makes up for the prices.

priva is the best place to go and enjoy the finer things in life. from a menu that serves top class delicious food, to the biggest selection of whisky's and to the very inviting humidor i feel like i'm in heaven every single time! the service is excellent and the manager will always make u feel at home!! it is by far one of the best looking lounges and its full of class! i make sure i go at least once a week! so should you!!
