portillo's hot dogs

no 2 this orders for uuuz!!!. feline foody here.... ecs (east coast snob) talked me into attending a personal monumental event . a trek to moreno valley for one of his favorite east coast fast food joints portillo's. although i have to call it fast food because you stand in line to order, pick up your own food at the window and clean up your own mess...(it also has a drive thru). surprisingly enough, i have never tasted west coast fast food on this level.....ever. thedogswere soft squishy steamy buns filled with mouth watering yummyness.... and the beef n'cheddar resembled something like a "oh my hell if i could eat 3 more i would" type of sandwich. the chili cheese fries are pretty dang good as well as the rings. ice cold scooners of domestic budwiser (not my fav) however tastes pretty amazing with the dog! great for the tastebuds but don't expect serene, you might want a bring along some ear protection. they hollar out your number with a rhyme like "number two, this order's for you".... cute. worth the drive!

after finding portillo's on urbanspoon and reading the reviews, i had to go. went with wife and son. wife and i had the chicago and son ate two jumbo cheese chili, and orders of onion rings and chili cheese fries. we also ordered the caramel pecan cake. thedogswere very tasteful as was the cake and the fries but hands down our favorite were the onion rings. the onions were crispy and flavorful with the batter actually staying on. will definitely return.
