had heard a lot about this place from locals and also it was all over the internet on every travel blog. it is true to expectations.
had the best thin crust pizza here, it was crisp, light, with right amount of spices and salt. it found the perfect balance to meet the desi taste buds yet give them an authentic feel.
ravioli was also great. and best was applepiewith ice cream. the crust of applepiewas baked to perfection. it was served warm to complement the ice cream.
the waiting staff was courteous, brought the ice tea at perfect temperature as requested.
the location at assi overlooking the ganges adds to the experience.
literally must visit!

the applepiewas unbearably saccharine and certainly not consonant with my palate. recommended only if you are into ultra-sweet desserts. however, the pizzeria by virtue of its location, affords a panoramic view of bedecked ghats straddling the river ganga. so, its "aesthetic pleasure" quotient does remain high.

one of the most sorted out places in varanasi and that too for food reasons!
this cafe is situated at the famous assi ghat , and you can enjoy the view of the calm ganges along with your food from this small cafe.

this places has become a must visit place for tourist.

the sitting arrangement is spacious and good , it is an open cafe surrounded by various plants and gives a view of the ghats and the ganges.

i have tried lasagna here and it is really good.
this place has various choices in pastas and pizza's.
margareta is also very good. the food at this place won't disappoint you at all. it has a different taste when compared to other places in varanasi.
the place is famous for its applepiewith icecream and it is definitely a must try.

the place may seem a bit expensive but it is totally worth it!

pizzeria vaatika is one of the finest candid open air, cosy & chill cafes, situated on the riverfront at the very famous assi ghat in varanasi. the place is a treat to eyes, with gorgeous sitting amidst the lush green surroundings, overlooking the beautiful ganges. there's all together a different calm and poise about this place. full of crowd that mostly comprises of students, travellers and foreign visitors, pizzeria is one of the most popular and loved hotspot of the town!
the place is known for its authentic italian pizzas prepared in old style, brick, fire oven and the applepie(omg, best ever, drooling) !
every single dish here usually exceeds expectations. we tried the following items from their menu-

1) the onion-garlic-mushroom pizza which was gorgeously garnished with onions, capsicums, mushrooms, garlic and cheese on a perfectly oven-cooked, thin crust with a nice, smoky flavour to it, was nothing but amazing.

2) we randomly chose to order the brown bread rolls with mozzarella from the menu which had half loaf of oven-baked brown bread stuffed with garlic paste, cheese blend and a mix of mozzarella, and to our surprise, we loved it to the core. another must try!

3) also tried their aglio olio peperonchino and oh, it was one of the best aglio e olio, we ever laid our hands on! astonishingly full-flavoured with lightly sautéed pressed garlic in olive oil, tossed with spaghetti and sprinkled with dried red chilli flakes on top, top-notch, totally.

4) and any visit to pizzeria is incomplete without savouring onto their legendary apple pie! it is virtually the last thing you'd expect to eat in varanasi, but damn, it is sensational! this is also baked in the traditional brick oven which adds to the crisp crust of the pie. buttery, soft pastry, filled with cinnamon with perfectly balanced sweetness and topped with delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream, this epic in every sense!

open air and serves only vegetarian food.
never expected to get such good quality italian food in varanasi.
the lasania was creamy and really tasty. the ravioli was cooked really well and the spinach filling was just perfect. the vaatika special hand tossed thin crust pizza was really tasty with a huge number of toppings.
the best dish was the dessert - applepiewith ice-cream.

this place is a must try in varanasi with a beautiful ganga view. though it is vegetarian the food is just great

the pizzeria is a cute place to go during winters, i repeat, during winters, only for the view though! i went there on 4th of april and my experience was not that well. first, there's no entry you have to enter through the kitchen, the place had lots of mosquitoes, and as it got darker i realised they don't have their own lighting but rely on the government lamp post on the ghat, no fans so it was really humid and hot. the time we went there, they had just one customer. we ordered a pizza, cheese garlic toast and apple pie. both savouries were salty. applepiedidn't feel fresh. got pizza seasonings after half the pizza was eaten. but these are not the reason i rate it so low. it's because when we asked for water, they gave us a bottle. no glasses. we had to ask for the water. but as soon as a foreign couple arrived they were greeted with water and 4 glasses for 2 people. like seriously?? so yes i rate it 1! never going again. not worth going. food not par to the prices either.

#latepost

please don't venture out untill & unless it's an emergency - stay indoors & keep yourself & everyone around you #safe 🙏

my #last post about #varanasi before i move on to my next destination..

pizzeria vaatika- assi ghat - varanasi! claims to be the #first pizzeria of india opened way back in 1992 at #assighat with a beautiful (specially when it's illuminated in the evenings) view overlooking the ganges.. the ambience was very soothing with that steady breeze from the riverside although the pizzeria was jam-packed with customers (mainly foreigners) - i have been told that's how it is always.. service is pathetic though and the pricing is slightly on the higher end of the spectrum..

unfortunately, it's a pure #veg zone and because i still didn't want to miss out on trying out thier famous pizza - i had to order and settle for a #vegpizza for the first time in my life (and probably the last time as well 😄)..

i went for the best that they had on the menu which they call the #kalzone pizza - that's nothing else but a mash of all ingredients on thier menu card put together on a single pizza - olives, pineapple, capsicum, mushroom, onion and probably all other vegetables found on planet earth 😂 - the saving grace for me was the #cheese overload though which helped me to consume the same somehow plus i was pretty hungry as well - still paying 400 rupees plus taxes for that vegetable mash in the name of a pizza certainly didn't appeal to me much.. even the dough bread was also not upto the mark to be honest..

but the real story starts at the #dessert actually - i had heard rave reviews about the #applepie served out there and i am super glad that i gave it a shot - freshly baked steaming hot applepieserved with vanilla icecream was nothing but an ecstasy to my tastebuds - every bite was heavenly.. certainly, the best applepiei have ever tasted till date - this one is clearly a winner in thier arsenal..

#mustvisit only for the #applepiewithicecream if you are in varanasi.. 😍
