we were passing through town on the interstate when traffic was backed up for hours. we decided to find a local pizza place and pass the time that way. we arrived at the neighborhood pizzeria tivoli. it is a little place with an open kitchen, we were the only folks in the dinning room but folks were coming and going with take out orders. as we were looking at the menu, the chef came out to let us know he was looking forward to preparing somethinggoodfor us. we ordered two pies and the melon and prosciutto. the appetizer of melon and prosciutto seemed too odd to pass up and i was not disappointed with the sweet and salty combo. our pizzas were out soon later and we were impressed with the thin, crispy, charred crust. the ingredients tasted so fresh and complimented the large shavings of parmesan. this find is a total win and i will be back next time i am passing through st.l.

the pizza is great, salads are verygoodas well. they can only cook one pizza at a time, so if it gets busy it can be kind of a long wait. if you are a pizza fan it's worth the wait, i keep coming back!

good pizza bad service bad vibe. i've eaten here many times and the pizza crust is amazinglygood- light, withgoodflavor andgoodchew. the topping selections are ok but require custom combinations to be great. unfortunately, the cooking of the pizza is inconsistent sometimes resulting in a soggy crust before it even gets to the table.

i would endure these issues hoping they will get worked out over time but really there is something about the owners that prevents me from going back. i am tired of continuous selling to get me to buy alcohol or dessert. when i want those things i'll get them. i don't want my arm twisted every time i go in. also there was a really nice waiter they never treated very well. he really kept the atmosphere fun and light. he knew the menu well and always hadgoodadvice about food and drink selections. now he is gone.

so the verdict after 1 year is at 40+ bucks for two for pizza, you cost more than you are worth, you treated your staff terribly in public and as a result you have lost a customer.

i enjoyed pizzeria tivoli- a fairly straightforward menu withgoodfood, not too pricey. the crust is a star, crisp but chewy, it let the fresh ingredients shine. if you like it spicy, you'll absolutely adore the flavors in the arabiata pizza.

nice neighborhood joint. visited here a few nights ago after finding the wait at the nearby onesto to be pretty unbearable. we immediately walked in and were seated.

the appetizer menu could use some help, no bread sticks or similar items, bruschetta was pretty much the only option. we opted for salads instead, and the caesar was fantastic!! lots of parmesan, easily the best caesar i've had in town.

for pizza we opted for the quatro formaggi with a few additional toppings. overall, prettygoodpizza, with excellent crust and sauce.

not as much selection as i would have liked, and not as much fun as nearby onesto, but agoodpizza joint overall.

good simple pizza. delicious thin crust pizza: just the right amount of chewy, wood crisped edges, and dough. toppings aren't excessive and there's not a lot of sauce but verygoodpizza. if you're looking for deep dish or many toppings to add, this isn't your place. if you're looking forgoodquality, thin crust, withgoodbasic ingredients, pizza tivoli is excellent.

i agree with downtown tom on everything. topping selection is almost as poor avthw pizza quality itself. terrible pizza. soggy crust, marginal toppings and it took way too long. the onlygoodthing they have is atmosphere. placed looks deceptively good. won't last in an italian food laden neighborhood.

continues to improve with age. i've been back several times since my original review. the salad was better, tomatoes seemed fresher. i've had several wonderful dining experiences here.

after rave reviews in multiple print media around st. louis, it's simply getting hard to find a table, particularly on friday and saturday evenings. while i still love going here, i do hope that with the cold weather coming the owner is able to get a permit for a heated "tent" on the patio.

note to the owners: as this is a neighborhood pizza joint in a proud south city neighborhood, i'd love to see local brews on tap. i get the peroni due to the italian connection, but for instance, there's no reason to go to chicago for their 312 when we have our own microbreweries such as schlafly, o'fallon, six row, the soon-to-open urban chestnut brewery in midtown, etc. which in my opinion carry superior beers.

great new neighborhood pizza place. this is a wonderful new pizza spot nestled on the corner of kingshighway and holly hills ave in the tidy princeton heights neighborhood in south city. the pizza is fresh and delicious, prepared in an open brick oven. the space itself is charming, casual-upscale. there is a small bar and a nice little patio for outdoor dining as well. the pizza shares some similarities with the always-excellentgoodpie in midtown, but pizzeria tivoli is just blocks from my house and in my opinion is just asgoodif not better.

my only suggestion: the tomato/mozzarella salad was good, but could have been exceptional with some better tomatoes. it's not that the tomatoes were bad, but they were simply bland, supermarket-quality tomatoes. tivoli seems to be getting enough business these days (open just a couple of months now and is already packed every time i go on a friday or saturday night) that i'd love to see the chef go to the farmers markets and get some fresher produce for the salads.
