bad news. the shack has been our favorite spot for over three years until they moved. the whole thing has changed and not for the better! i have made my last trip to shack! the service really sux and the great, fresh taste is gone. sorry john and all the other "old" regular staff, your replacements are not up to par!!

what happened to this place?... have been going to pizza shack for years. by far it has been consistent and the best pizza in jackson. ordered a pizza and wings and here is what i got:

pizza: grease. as we tried to eat it, the imprint of grease on the box was a saturated mess. it was heavy and bad. crust was soaked. sogg, bad pizza.

wings: really bad. these wings were swimming in sauce and had also gotten really soggy.

i am not sure if they were having an "off day" or what, but we ended up throwing most of this order away.

best pizza in jackson. better then sal and mookies, soulshine, and pie works combined!

probably the most authentic pizza. i'm from the east coast, born in italy and have had the best of pizzas out there - for not just the south but for other places the pizza shack gets it right. the crust is thin, it is just that hint of burnt, the sauce is rustic and simple, the cheese is quality, the freshness is just over the top. this is an excellent representation of napoletana pizza!

i've also had their meatball sub and salads - both ace.

other restaurants should learn from this place. simplicity works.

honestly, its the best pizza in jackson, which makes this hard to review especially considering the business is locally owned and supports lgbt. however, my boyfriend absolutely hates sausage.. (yeah..) so we order the supreme pizza with no dausage, but the past 2 times that we've ordered, our order has been messed up! the girl even read the cheack as she cashed out the order, and threw that akward "oh, crap this is wrong" look at us, knowing it was wrong.. but still sold it to me like normal. while i love pizza shack, this is unacceptable.. and may order plain old dominoes next time

i have tried numerous pizzas here and were not a fan until i tried the chicken curry pizza. it's amazing. a must try!

what has happened to pizza shack!?. last night was a horrible experience for the pizza shack. i placed my order by phone 30 minutes before i got there. when i arrived, i was told it would be a "few more minutes". while waiting, i observed one of the workers mixing tea with a picture of salt. it went downhill from there. my pizza was actually ready when i arrived. the inept staff overlooked my order. this was after waiting at the restaurant for an additional 15 minutes! when i got my order home, i found that my beloved cheese sticks and medium carnivore were both burnt. i'm sorry, but this lack of respect for customers and mediocre food offerings falls far below my expectations from a place that's been voted best pizza joint for the past 4-5 years. if i wanted this type of food, i should have went to little ceasars. at least the food would have been edible!

my first time at this location, i love!!!! the food was great and so was the service. i will come back!

not as good as all the hype. they pile on so much cheese and toppings on these pizzas, they can't even cook the dough properly. last time i sent back my pizza since the dough wan't cooked and i asked them to put less cheese on it when they redid it. there was still so much cheese on it when it came back, i couldn't even tell if the dough was cooked or not. it was just a big sloppy mess. gross.

the carnivore was a monster. you could actually see the layers of various meats on the pizza.

every time i get a personal size pizza from here it never gets done in the middle. i get home and have to put it in the oven. too many toppings can be a bad thing. does this happen to others or just me?

anyone out there ever had real pizza?. after eating at pizza shack on several occasions and reading the reviews on this and other websites, i am beginning to wonder if i am eating at the same place as the other reviewers. if you are impressed by the the sheer size and weight of a pizza, then this is your place. if you are more concerned about things like the quality of ingredients, taste and appearance of the food, then this is not your place. i have never understood the mindset that a pizza piled high with ingredients is a good pizza. when i pick up a slice of pizza, i would like to be able to take a bit without all of the toppings sliding off onto the plate or my lap. pizza should be a combination of well made crust topped with just the right amount ingredients and cheese. now i know there will be those of you that point to chicago style pizza and it's abundance of toppings, but this is no chicago style pizza. that is a different beast altogether. the owners would probably save some money on ingredients and make a much more edible product if they just eased of on the toppings a bit. also, all those toppings make for a super soggy crust.
i also have to agree with several other reviewers that noted the increased prices of the pizzas. a year of two ago, the real attraction of pizza shack was the feeling that you were getting alot of bang for your buck. funny how success can change things. i know ingredient prices go up over time, especially in this economy, but the price increases seem out of line, but it's their business, and i guess they do what they have to to keep it profitable.
not much to say about the service. take the order, take the money, serve the pie. no brainer.
i haven't been to the new location, but the north state shop needs a little freshen up. nuff said.
a little tweaking and this place will be around for a long time.

thai chicken pizza. order it! it's devine!

good pizza. im a pizza guy and i love this place. the price is good pizza yummy. the parking needs work and sometimes i see cats running around inside so i question the cleanliness, but the pizza is still great

i liked this place until they started getting awards, then they jacked their prices up. a few weeks ago, i bought 2 large pizzas--one with pepperoni and bacon, the other with green peppers, onions and pepperoni. my total was almost $44! my wife picked the order up and thought it sounded high, but didn't really give it a second thought. i, however, looked at the itemized receipt, and on both pizzas these crooks charged me mozzerella cheese as a premium topping along with the other ingredients! i was livid. we used to live in chicago, so i know pizza, and wasn't it. i'll never return...
