children's order out in under 20 minutes, pizzas were massive, and undercooked.
main meals were out in about 2 minutes and were of "pub" quality. prawn curry consisted of a generous serve of frozen prawns, with a tasty sauce. exceptionally greasy poppadum, which i could not eat. wife ordered the chicken "involtini", that was dry, polenta was very dry. chips were ok, but fries served with other meals were unpleasant at best

won't be returning. we have been coming to the pig and whistle for years now. first time we loved the pie, then tried other dishes and enjoyed them too. we are not regulars but come once or twice a year, now with our kids. today we stopped by to have a late lunch. our kids food was served quickly, chicken and chips. my husband and i chose dishes of the special board. unfortunately both dishes were very disappointing. the slow cooked lamb was dry and drowned in gravy. vegetables and potato wedges swimming in it too. my sticky pork was nice but the asian vegetables and noodles (bok choy, green beans and snow peas) tasted of burned wok. i could still taste it hours later. very disappointed with the quality of food and unfortunately won't be returning.

what a great place! food was delicious & the service was so friendly & inviting. we could have stayed for hours out on the deck in the sun! perfect spot to detour too when your up in the area...

the food was nice but needs to included some vegetables and salad with the main courses or as a side dish. lots of potatoes which were too heavy and filing.

excellent atmosphere and food! i had a chicken and polenta main which was cooked perfectly! love the beer garden feel of the outside area, surrounded by the gorgeous hills greenery!

we were expecting a tourist trap but we found something genuinely good. all you could hope for in terms of great pub food.

rule 1: when at a pub don't go for the fancy menu items. stick with basics. steak or foam and chips. choices eaten were disappointing ending a disappointing day in the mountains.
visited again (june 2016) but zomato only lets you edit previous review. though busy and bustling food was very good and service fairly prompt given the circumstances.

started of promising, with glimpses of delicious food and generous amounts. but when you wait for an hr, not worth while at all. ordered the pork belly with perfect crackling, crispy without breaking ur teeth and flathead was under seasoned. it was nice once with generous amt of salt and pepper. overall, wouldn't go back

disappointing!. after hearing great things about this place, i was so disappointed when i arrived. we booked well in advance and where seated in a back corner literally in the corner. we where not able to see the specials board without getting up and where not informed of them either. the soft drink was beyond flat, the meal (guinness pie) was clearly microwaved, far to hot to eat and beyond bland. service was poor also. my boyfriend and i where expecting great pub style foods and where willing to pay for them too. this is not the case, will not return,

went here last night for dinner and drinks and was happy with the food and great range of beers, the only downside was our sleazy waiter who ignored the males on our table and kept making terrible dad jokes at our female company.

our favourite. this is definitely a favourite local restaurant of ours. we come her regularly as the whole restaurant has a nice, welcoming and rustic feel to it. the service we have always found to be friendly although sometimes a little too fast. when we go out for dinner we always want to enjoy the moment and if can feel a little rushed at times. the food is always yummy and the servings are definitely large, which is welcomed by my two men! the desserts are equally generous and are often shared due to lack of "belly room". the pricing is good which makes booking a must on weekends.

can never go wrong with this place in summer! food is great, the decked outdoor area is perfect to kick back with friends on a warm sunny day, and they have little creatures pale on tap! i have never been let down in the 9 times i have been here.

good food but worst waitress ever. we had a late lunch here on a sunday. we were running late for our lunch appointment, so we rang ahead to let them know we would be late. when we arrived, they had given our table away, which was fine, and we said we were happy to wait by the bar. the waitress however, was either having a bad day, or seemed to have a personal vendetta against us. from rolling her eyes and muttering that we were late, to asking us how the food was and then leaving before we could even respond... it seemed as if we had done something to offend her.

foodwise, everything was delicious, and prices were cheap. we had the lamb shank, pork belly and the beef and guiness pie. however, i'm not sure if i would be back,... reading through reviews today, it sounds as if staff are normally friendly, so it could be just a once-off incident.

awesome food, good beer, service prompt. highly recommend the beef and reef, puddings were great too. would go back in a flash! only complaint (and i did think this the last time i was there as well) is simply that the seating is rather uncomfortable, the padding on the seats are worn and you can feel the wood of the chair when your sitting. apart from this, awesome venue. definately would recommend that you book in advance as its busy!
