phil sandoval's is an immensely popular mexican restaurant in huntsville, al. conveniently located off us hwy 72 near research park & rideout road/research park blvd, their lunchtime, or evening fare is always satisfying, and a bargain. last time i dined there, i was with a long-time friend of the owner. we didn't make our presence known tophiluntil after we had been seated, waited upon, and served. our service was phenomenal. having been there several times, i can attest that whether in large or small groups, ps's is a place where one can relax with friends, enjoy good food, good companionship, and good times together.

i preferphilover rosies. i prefer phils over rosies period! been there tons of times and always great! those reviews that were negative must be those people that aren't happy with anything!

yummy. my husband and i have a passion for mexican food. we moved to the huntsville area late 2013 and have often said the only thing we miss is our old mexican restaurant. we really likephilsandoval's. the food is fresh, fast and delicious. we have always had good service and great food. you should go and try it out. making me hungry just thinking about it!!!

huntsville wasn't an easy place to find good options to eat, so during my search i came across with a mexican restaurant namedphilsandoval’s . colourful and friendly, i loved the decor, full of mexican hats, friendly spanish speaking staff, and a menu full of mexican and tex-mex classics

great fajitas. went and had lunch for the first time today atphilsandoval's.the fajitas were to die for and the homemade tortillas words cant say.i am gonna back for dinner very soon!!!

i've heard nothing but rave reviews aboutphilsandoval's but this trip left me wanting more. the staff was very quick to action and very helpful. i ordered the combination lunch (to try a variety of items). i order a basic chicken enchilada with salsa verde and a tamale. these were served with very fluffy and flavorful rice that was served with sautéed green bell peppers, onion, and tomato. the refried beans were flavored we'll with a hint of smoked bacon and bell pepper flavoring. the chips were thin and fresh with a chili based salsa. my guacamole was one of the best i've eaten! i had mixed feelings with many highs and lows. the lows: the chicken in the enchilada was very dry and bland. the salsa verse was sweet? the highs: guacamole was to die for, very creamy and flavorful; the rice and beans were on par with most of mexican restaurants these days. overall i would ratephilsandoval's 3/5 stars.

overrated for sure..philsandoval's is a rosie's with a minor rework of the menu, and not much of one at that. the chips and salsa are the highlight, and the food is done is a sort of bland style. from enchiladas to fajitas, it was all okay. just okay. prepared and consumed with equal boredom, it seems. more expensive than rosie's... why?

started off good. i have eaten atphilsandoval's a couple of times now and my initial meal was wonderful. however, i have been back twice more and each time the food has gotten progressively more bland. i don't know what happened, the mexican butter has remained the same, but the protein portions of the meals are really just lacking in any consistent flavor.

i was reserving my comparison to rosie's until i had sampled a few of the dishes, but now i can honestly say that phil's has failed to meet the mark of rosie's. the one shining star at phil's is definitely the chips and salsa. the chips are light and crisp and the salsa is wonderfully flavorful. other than that, i would say that phil's just isn't as worth the cost. go across the street or head south on the parkway and go to rosie's.

very tasty.philsandoval's has chicken mole enchiladas (the sauce, not the underground creature) on the menu. it was excellent. haven't seen mole on any one else's menu in town. the black beans as a side are very good, not mushy. price is on par with rosie's. i prefer sandoval's. service was very accomodating of our large group at lunch.

outstanding food and service!!.philsandoval's has excellent service, and the food is outstanding. i have never had a bad meal there. his chips and salsa are always freshly made, and his fish taco's are the best that i have ever had anywhere in the country. ifphilis in the house, he usually stops by your table to see if everything is okay. once you try this restaurant, you will be back again and again!

just as good if not better.... then rosie's. the salsa is much better than rosie's. a bit more expensive, but very much worth it. i always like the decor and feel of any rosie's and am pleased thatphilsandoval chose to stick with the same exact atmosphere. i'm a frequent visitor of this establishment!

very good!.philsandoval's has great service, and is not just a "warmed over rosie's".

i'll start by saying my personal tastes are pretty mainstream. the food at phil's is different, yet not wildly so. there's just enough departure to make it interesting, without getting into the realm of 'strange' or 'gourmet', which to me anyway, is a big win.

another place i can give high marks is the service. every time we've been there, the wait staff have gone the extra mile and done a really good job for us. we'll definitely be back again soon!

better than the competition. on this side of town, the tex-mex battle pretty much comes down tophilsandoval's and rosie's. phil's wins. there's not a bad item on menu, the ambiance is excellent, service is great, prices are reasonable, and they have the best tortilla chips in town served with a pretty good salsa. when the boss takes us out for tex-mex, we go to rosie's. when i want a better meal, i go to phil's.
