outstanding food and service!!. phil sandoval's has excellent service, and the food is outstanding. i have never had a bad meal there. his chips and salsa are always freshly made, and his fish taco's are the best that i have ever had anywhere in the country. if phil is in the house, he usually stops by your table to see if everything is okay. once you try this restaurant, you will be back again and again!

just as good if not better.... then rosie's. the salsa is much better than rosie's. a bit more expensive, but very much worth it. i always like the decor and feel of any rosie's and am pleased that phil sandoval chose to stick with the same exact atmosphere. i'm a frequent visitor of this establishment!

awesome! i love rosies, but phil's has passed them in my book. love their chips n salsa. guac is not a paste (very important). i recomend fish tacos (never thought i would ever eat one let alone recommend one). also, acapulco nachos rock. was happy phil's is good since casa blanca started watering down their salsa (except for east athens). i never go to casa blanca anymore. their guac is paste, salsa watered down, and the rest of the menu is not much better quality. try none typical it's at phil's.

very good!. phil sandoval's has great service, and is not just a "warmed over rosie's".

i'll start by saying my personal tastes are pretty mainstream. the food at phil's is different, yet not wildly so. there's just enough departure to make it interesting, without getting into the realm of 'strange' or 'gourmet', which to me anyway, is a big win.

another place i can give high marks is the service. every time we've been there, the wait staff have gone the extra mile and done a really good job for us. we'll definitely be back again soon!

better than the competition. on this side of town, the tex-mex battle pretty much comes down to phil sandoval's and rosie's. phil's wins. there's not a bad item on menu, the ambiance is excellent, service is great, prices are reasonable, and they have the best tortilla chips in town served with a pretty good salsa. when the boss takes us out for tex-mex, we go to rosie's. when i want a better meal, i go to phil's.

best mexican in town!. phil's is bar-none the best mexican in huntsville. during lunch, you have a great menu of quick deals and can pop in and out within a half an hour. also, these is not one item on the menu i would not eat. fantastic!

recommended by urbanspoonites. my husband and i went for the first time based on urbanspoon recommendations and loved it. our server was great and i loved the cheese dip and chicken mole. the server even brought a taste of the mole to make sure i liked it before i put in my order.

excellent!. keeping with the rosie's tradition, i loved phil sandoval's. the chips are lighter and thinner (which i prefer) and the mambo taxi is always top notch. add in the great, fast service and you've got yourself and excellent evening every time!

best mex. favorite 'go-to' dinner. better than rosie's. we dine at phil's every week and have enjoyed every time.
never had any issues with quality of
food, temperature, or cleanliness.

love the fish tacos, the triple decker tostados, and three types of rice, two types of beans. and if you see a salmon entree special on fri or sat...do not order it! instead call or email me and we'll be right over. (sometimes they run out and this is to die for)

4-1/2 out of 5 stars :-). located where the very first rosie's mexican cantina used to be in huntsville, and still somewhat affiliated with rosie's (or so i've heard), phil sandoval's mexican restaurante is every bit as excellent. many of the food entrees are similar, and yet there is enough of a difference where you may very well choose phil sandoval's over rosie's. the green rice and blackbeans are a nice touch that differentiate it from rosie's. the ambiance is also very nice. we've gone twice, were very pleased, and would happily go again.
