party of three mid saturday. the first meal i've had in a long time where every appetizer (3) and every entre (3) was superb. the prices were reasonable, the service was excellent and the staff madegoodrecommendations. the food was spicy but not evermuch. one of our party was not a big hot food fan but still enjoyed the experience. the staff will advise you if you ask. if you like szechuan pepper try the dry fried eggplant appetizer.

it was alright.. my mom, my aunt and i went to peter chang's today for lunch because my aunt said that they havegoodchinese food. of course it was extremely packed when we went, so we ended up waiting 25 minutes before we were seated.

service was really slow, so we ended up waiting another 30 minutes or so until our food was ready. i didn't really enjoy my shrimp with lobster sauce that much because the chef put extra spice in my food. i felt like i was constantly drinking water. my aunt requested extra spice in her food, but her food wasn't spicy at all.

however, i will definitely go back again and try something else.

this place had been in our go to list ever since we saw it on bizarre foods and we were not disappointed. for first time we ordered the popular things on menu like scallion pancakes and dry fried eggplants both of which were reallygoodand different from the usual chinese starters. for main course we got the duck in stone pot which was very very good. we always appreciate amazing food when it is not just yummy but also cheap. so extra points for that :) we also tried to make dry fried eggplants at home but we were not successful, its not as easy as it looks :(

we recently found out that there is a peter chang branch near our house and we just can't wait to go back , hopefully it will asgoodas this one.

came with a group of co-workers based on a recommendation. when approaching the restaurant you may perceive it to be a typical chinese place. however, once inside the atmosphere is quite pleasant.goodlighting and happening conversation. the staff is friendly and accommodating. only downfall is that there were long periods between our server coming to our table and "checking in" with us. that is the only reason this place doesn't get a 5. otherwise all of the food was great and satisfying. well worth the visit.

had the hunan chicken and wonton soup. the wonton soup was delicious. the hunan chicken tasted like it had been grilled on a charcoal grill... was it good? sure. was it worth $20? no. i've had equallygoodchinese food for half the price.

not recommended!. the food isgood- no question. but notgoodenough to put up with the unbelievably close tables (packed in like cattle), loud open room, mediocre service and really bad scheduling at the host station. last visit we were told the wait would be 40 - 45 min. after 45 min. we were told (rudely) that it would be another 45 min. at least and we could leave if we wanted. we did! went to lehja for indian food - got fabulous food, fabulous service, and even though they were full, our table afforded us sufficient room for conversation.
no more peter chang for us! there are too many wonderful restaurants in richmond to settle for this treatment.

nom.. finally...good chinese in richmond. only took me 4 years to find it! i finally made it to peter chang's last weekend with my in-laws after hearing rave reviews for quite a while. we were able to make a reservation for 8 with pretty minimal notice (i called at 1pm the same day) and, considering that the place was slammed the entire time we were there, i think that we lucked out. everything that i tried wasgood(spring rolls, scallion bubble pancake, fried rice, lamb chop special, even the sesame chicken that one of my less-adventurous dining companions got was decent), but a few of the items were truly stellar and worth mentioning...these include the lettuce wraps, the basil, leek, and jalapeno chicken, and most notably, the steamed pork dumplings. a. effing. plus. for such a simple appetizer, i wasn't expecting such flavor, but those really rocked my socks. my husband ordered the seafood clay pot special and also said that it was awesome, though i was way too full in the end to try it. will definitely return!

i have heardgoodthings about the food and was excited to try it. i got off work @12:30 pm on a wednesday and thought i would swing by and pick up take out before i had to pick my kids up from school. when i called to place my order the girl said "we don't do take out" i was shocked! why in the world would you not honor to go food? i was by myself and having a serious craving for this food but did not want to sit down in a resaurant by myself and realy didn't have the time anyway. well i took my business somewere else and can honestly say that i will never go to peter changs cafe and sit down to eat by myself or with others as this experience has completely turned me off.

poor service poor food. i was very excited to go to peter chang's for my birthday as i have heard several great things about the food. i have to say i was disappointed in the cuisine and the service. the service was just appalling. when asking the waitress what was the difference between certain menu items she replied she did not know. then it took forever for us to receive our drinks even after flagging her down several times to remind her of our drinks. the appetizers were the best part of the meal. the fried zucchini was delicious but that was the end of the delicious food. the mountain of beef was bland. not to mention when the waitress brought it out she called the dish mongolian beef. when we asked her if it was the mountain of beef she said no it is chicken. she went back to the kitchen to confirm it was mongolian beef and when she came out she said oh well it is all the same. chicken. beef. well actually they are two different animals. since it was my birthday my friends did not want to make a big deal about it. we just ate out food but i tasted every dish as is our custom. they are were bland. the basil chicken, the mountain of beef, the schezuan double cooked pork. it was disappointing. it didn't have the boldness associated with szechuan cuisine. to top off the night i guess my friends insisted rather heavily that the staff sing me happy birthday. personally i hate this part but instead of coming out with a dessert they went and got tootsie rolls and put a candle in one. i couldn't help but laugh at the whole situation. really? tootsie rolls. they were better off doing nothing. it all made for agoodstory and picture but that's about all i got from peter chang's china cafe. i waited so long to go in hopes that a new place would have worked out all the staff issues. obviously i seem to be in the minority since the place was packed and everyone else seemed to have resigned themselves to the bad service. butgoodservice is an important part of a restaurant experience for me.

authentic and delicious chinese food. i have been turned off by american chinese food ever since going to china. this is the real deal. for apps we got the bang bang shrimp which wasgoodand the pan fried dumplings which had the best skin i've ever tasted in the us, including chinatown in ny. for dinner we had the beef w cilantro which tasted fresh and was sooo tender and the whole boneless fried fish which took me back to china. the skin was perfection, the fish was firm and flavorful, and the presentation was fabulous. for just over $50 we had an awesome dinner with enough leftovers for two more meals.

birthday work day lunch. food was hot and delicious, service was on par for the most part, meals were presented as they were ready in the kitchen so our lunches were somewhat staggered in delivery to the table. one guest in our party ordered the tofu meatballs in hopes of enjoying a meatless vegetarian dish. her entree was the last to be delivered to the table, which was about 20 minutes longer than the other 7 lunch guests. it then was explained by our waitress that this dish typically takes a long time to prepare. that would probably begoodto know up front. after our vegetarian friend tasted her first bite of the tofu meatballs, it was discovered that the tofu balls were actually chunks of flounder wrapped in tofu. they were quite tasty and the presentation was beautiful, but they definitely were not vegetarian. the food marked "spicey" delivered on the promise of heat and all of the dishes were fresh and flavorful. the prices were fair and the portion sizes were huge. the atmosphere is okay, a little sterile, but clean and the food is really the star of this show. i would eat here again. vegetarians proceed with caution.

agoodexperience!. lot's of folks "panning" peter chang's. not sure why. the service was attentive, the food was "as represented", and the meal was "good" to "very good". not sure what everyone else is expecting?
i got my "money's worth" . . . left-overs in the frig . . . calling my name.

try the #4, scallion bubble pancake, as an appetizer. wow! this was "fun"!

the to secret to "walk-in and sit down at a table" is sun evening! slowest night in the resturant bussiness! at least in my 7 yrs of waiting tables during college and grad school.
