pengo's cafe

best coffee today on my way to penguin island. i also had the chicken and brie bagel and my friend had salt and pepper squid both were so delicious. the menu is amazing and seems really fresh. love the look of this place too very funky. looks like the locals love it as its dog friendly right near the dog beach and beautiful shoalwater bay! love love love it will bebackfor sure!

slice of coffee heaven!. i'm a cafe slut from waybackand worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years starting in the kitchen sink to opening and running cafes and restaurants, before starting a free restaurant guide displaying wellington's finest restaurants in nz so i've visited alot of restaurants and cafes.

so i'm in safety bay and stumbled across what use to be a kiosk when we first arrived in w.a. is now the makings of a great cafe in rockingham! the coffee was a blessing from above! sandwiches, packed with goodies, good black-board selections and fish & chips cost $13.50! counter staff willing to go above and beyond for their customers! finally a place where i can go and have a cuppa, read the local paper, chat with the locals while being spoilt from the lovey girls behind the counter. yes the prices can get up there if you're doing a trip to the island with your family but at $15.00 for a crammed packed panini and the best coffee in rockingham! worth it, worth it, worth it!! too many times, no... every time i've gone to get coffee from fremantle to mandurah, i might as well have thrown $5.00 in the bin! no other coffee comes close to benita, tara and rosie's coffee in the area!! well worth the 20 minute drive for my slice of heaven and recommended to all.

iced coffee and stuff.. the mocha was very good and the iced chocolate (that my friend had) was very good too so they have got their drinks sorted out. it is a pity about the service though it was busy and they didn't have enough staff to handle it. so the service (or lack of it) lets them down. my friend says it is a pity that there is no inside sitting area as when it is windy everything except our drinks blows off the table. we had an awesome love bite to eat and it was good too. so they have got their food and drinks sorted it is a pity about the location and the service though. if they somehow managed to turn the 'shop' around it would be better and they (i think) should employ more staff in the busy bits, so the service is better. at least they can employ more staff reasonably easyilby. please forgive my spelling i used to work for the police but i got run-over at work, and i am learning to walk and talk again! i think i can think ok though and i want to gobackto work but that is a fair way off. my physcologist (yes i have one of those) gave me the address of urban spoon to write things in, so i am writing. mainly about coffee as my wife usually makes my dinner. i would rate pengo's cafe and burger bar as could be better (the service and how the building is built is letting them down). if the service was better and you could get out of the wind they would be on a winner.

oh and the service was average and had to take pananibackas was not toasted as requested.
cater for tourists as they will only visit once.

expensive for what you get. chicken burger had hardly any chicken (poor quality too) and was under cooked. chips were yum though.

at first we weren't convinced. came here about a year ago, never wanted to come back. however out of desperation for caffeine i stoppedbackin about a month ago! wow what a difference a change in staff and decor can do. the girls at the front are attentive and friendly, they treat locals as if they're family members, including myself. also the quality of food has improved, the menu more diverse. oh and the coffee, the coffee is amazing. ask for coffee from either tara or benita, they will make you the creamiest lattes of your life.
