pei wei asian diner

poor man's version of pf chang's. owned by the same company, this is the "fast food" version and it shows. the portions, quality, and staff are all below the flagship restaurant. yet, the prices are only slightly cheaper. still, better than eating the mall chinese food if you are really craving some.

if you want a cheap lunch/dinner that tastes good, stop in pei wei. my food is always quick to come out, hot, and correct. it's a go to for us if we're looking for something easy and inexpensive. wouldn't recommend it if you're watching your sodium intake though! it's always busy, so you may feel kind of rushed to eat and leave so that your table opens up for someone else. this never bothers us though. it's a not a place to have a lingering meal anyway.

we love the chicken lettuce wraps, tuna rolls, and the pei wei spicy chicken salad. we always order some combination of those 3 items so i can't tell you about the rest of the menu. we always order to go. the inside is always crowded and is not the most kid friendly environment. over all, we do love our favorite menu items and order from here frequently.

tasty, quick asian food. considering the cafeteria style serving, the flavors are good. staff is quick and friendly. if you don't want to sit around in a full service restaurant but also don't want a greasy fast-food burger: this would be a great alternative. a good middle-ground

pei wei asian diner is a familiar establishment throughout the nation.  the belle isle location is clean, quick, efficient, and with friendly staff.    as an asian, i prefer authentic dishes in asian district, but i can still appreciate american-asian food.  pei wei does this very well and i know lots of people who enjoy meals here.  

the quality of the food for what it is is above average (compared to, say, panda express).  we ordered their new kung pao shrimp sushi roll, chicken fried rice, crab wontons, and chocolate chip cookie.  the sushi roll is essentially their mango california roll with fried kung pao shrimp and nuts on it.  there were lots of chicken in the fried rice and it was pleasantly served hot, but in my opinion, could have cooked longer with the rice since it was still relatively hard grains.  the crab wontons were served lukewarm, but was delicious!  the chocolate chip cookie was a little hard, but it was acceptable.  out of these 4 food items, from most favorite to least, it would be: kung pao shrimp sushi roll, crab wontons, chocolate chip cookie, and chicken fried rice.

i'd also like to add that we have gone to this pei wei before and had a terrible experience.  we sent in a survey and were contacted promptly by a guest representative, who more than supplemented our meal with 2 $10 gift cards. while i prefer better quality food, their follow-up customer service and how efficient their system are what makes pei wei a very good company to support.

notes:  many, many people enjoy pei wei.  if you like chinese-american or american-asian dishes, pei wei is for you.  also, if you are in a rush, they get their dishes done in a jiffy!

tip:  if you've ordered from them before, save your receipt.  you can get a free cookie after completing their survey!

mediocre. as an asian, i was impressed with the quality of the food here. having tried many authentic asian food, this place is just mediocre. nothing special.

pei wei. although pei wei is a chain restaurant it has very quick delicious and affordable take out for the whole family. even the kids meal are a lot of food.

not consistent... and my order is always wrong.. i don't know why i even bother any more. we go here weekly, and every time, our order is wrong. i was even told by the order taker how to order food, to go or dining in, to ensure my order was right. and it's still wrong. the manager actually knows us because of this, and she is so sweet. but her staff keeps on keepin' on, and it's very disappointing. plus, when two people order the same thing, it's frustrating when one person gets triple the other. and when you ask for "extra" of something, there should be more of it... not less. i asked for extra veggies today and wasn't even give enough for a full serving. like i said, i don't know why i even bother. at least the food tastes good, though.

egg rolls. just about everyone in my office is addicted to pei wei's egg rolls. i've never tasted any that are quite that good. i was studying for a final exam once and i stopped here and had some egg rolls while i was going over the study material. i got a 100% on my final. now i'm not saying pei wei's egg rolls are solely responsible for that(me studying until i wanted to throw my textbook in the street and watch it get run over surely played a part as well), but it did make me wonder....

yum!. i could eat their pei wei spicy chicken every day. seriously. yum. lettuce wraps, edamame, lo mein -- they have something for everyone in our family and no one goes home hungry. it's reasonably priced, too.

oh -- and i have ordered to-go from this location on many occasions and i've never ever had an issue. good luck? is my timing when they're less busy? i have no idea, but i was surprised to read that in another review....

take out nightmare. this location has serious issues with take-out orders. i have placed three take-out orders in the last six months, and all have been messed up in one way or another. from wrong ingredients (like shrimp and beef in my chicken pad thai) to misplaced orders, they have problems. watch yourself. don't pay until you check your orders. or better yet, go elsewhere.

asian with an usamerican flare. pei wei offers a lively atmosphere, and an economical lunch. it is also a wonderful change of pace from the average asian bistro, with a distinctly usamerican flare.

while i am not usually a fan of chain restaurants, this one has really stumbled onto something good. the menu is a sampling of so many different cuisines, and there truly is something for everyone here. an example: i am not much of a fan of chinese food, but love thai food. i have a friend who loves korean food. another who loves edamame. we are all happy at pei wei.

the pad thai is not particularly authentic, but it is excellent in taste, and my favorite thing on the menu. their edamame is good too.

overall, this is a great choice, and i find the children and youth like it too.

just fantastic. superb quality. clean. hard workers. and they toned down the loud music too.

certainly not worth your time. out brown rice was so nearly raw. i complained and all 3 cooks looked at me like; oh no, now what. then told me its suppose to be that way. really??? plus greasiest chicken wraps you could imagine. never again!!!!

always good and fresh and fast service.
