very happy at happy hour!. wow - what a great happy hourplacefor oysters, appetizers and drinks! terrific prices, fast and friendly service made us very happy during our first visit to pearlz. so many choices--we decided this would be our dinner! everything was fresh, very tasty and pleasantly appealing. we were disappointed when our schedule precluded us from returning one more time before leaving charleston. if you love oysters - don't miss pearlz!!

four of us for an early dinner at the bar. what a pleasure. we started with the gulf oysters, fat juicy, and full of flavor. then onto the lobster roll, and a tuna burger. without a doubt, two of the best sandwiches that we've ever eaten. thisplaceis a real winner.

go early for happy hour. the great thing about thisplaceis their happy hour (weekdays: 4pm-7pm) falls right in time with dinner. the downside is that everyone is there to try and take advantage of it so go early. be prepared to shuck the happy hour gulf oysters. however, the price was decent, my husband shucked away and i happily ate. fyi they do have oysters on the half shell - regular price.

you can't beat the tasty mahi mahi tacos during happy hour, two tacos for $5.95! they made a great addition to our dozen oysters.

great food!. so the first night my friends and i are in charleston we are looking for aplaceto eat dinner late. pearlz was one of the only places left still serving dinner around 11pm. boy what a great choice to go in. the food was fantastic. usually i don't eat seafood out unless i know theplacewell, and i wish i had not stuck to that last night. my friend had the seafood sliders which i tried and were downright fantastic. credit to the chef for a great meal. waitress was also great, very friendly. house brewed beer on tap and great prices...what more do you want? check out pearlz!!

love oysters, but can't eat them raw since i'm pregnant...so i got the fried oyster taco and really was not impressed. not a lot of flavor and not crazy about the overall texture and taste of the fried oysters- it could be a pregnancy thing. had a side salad which was good. my husband enjoyed the burger and homemade chips. looked like a goodplaceto grab cocktails and take oyster shots...but i have to save that for another time.

it was perfect for us.  we had a couple of really nice "fancy" dinners in charleston and one night we just wanted a casualplacewhere we could hang out and enjoy the time.  we grabbed a couple of seats at the window and just people watched and enjoyed the wonderful oysters.  we downed a dozen local and then a mixed dozen and some fried and shooters as we sipped our brews and had a great time.  theplacewas packed.  it was apparently the happy hour place.  can't blame 'em!  loved it.

pearlz is a wonderfulplaceto eat oysters in charleston.  there are many options in charleston (i am a local) for fabulous seafood and pearlz is right up there.  the restaurant is usually busy and the crowd is made up of many locals.  you will likely wait for a table in the evening. i've tried many menu items and everything so far has been great.  pearlz offers a great selection of oysters plus many other (fresh) seafood selections.  i love to start off with an oyster shooter followed by an assortment of oysters on the half shell.  they are served with cocktail sauce (of course) and mignonette.  they are always great! usually we just order a few rounds of oysters and cocktails until we are full so i haven't tried many other menu items.  it's hard not to repeat the shooter, half shell combo each time to try other items.  i'm sure everything is great.  i have ordered the fish tacos and they are great too.

no regrets. went to pearlz when they opened (4pm) for happy hour. tried their house beers which were good and cheap at only $2.50 fro 4 to 7. the oysters were dee-lish, as were their soups (new england clam chowder, seafood gumbo) and the tuna and swordfish tacos. there is plenty of fish in the fish tacos - the meat comes out as one big slice in the taco which was a nice surprise. the atmosphere was good; agree with another persons comments about getting there early for happy hour because it does indeed fill up quickly. i would absolutely recommend thisplacefor good food and a relaxedplaceto enjoy a few drinks.

we walked in to a crowded restaurant and grabbed two seats at the bar. it turned out to be the bestplaceto sit – you can see the guys preparing the oysters right in front of you, and they’ll tell you about each of the oysters. they even gave us some free samples!   we started by splitting the saffron lobster bisque ($6.95) with lobster beignet.  it was a great choice. salty, but great lobster flavor. i was looking for a few chunks of meat, but it was only broth. very rich. then, after the free samples, we decided on the dozen oyster sampler  ($18.95). these

died and went to oyster heaven. went to pearlz for the oysters (many varieties to choose from) stayed for much more. i had 3 different kinds of oysters, fish tacos, peel 'n' eat shrimp and monk fish. everything was delicious and fresh! wine list rocked too, many options and reasonably priced. although theplacewas packed on a thursday night, the staff was attentive and the food was served in an acceptable time.
if you love fresh seafood, go here as soon as you arrive in charleston and order everything!

pearlz's was a delicious dinner in downtown charleston! we had no idea that you had to shuck your own oysters, but it turned into a great learning experience and alot of fun! my husband had the grilled tuna and i had the fried shrimp dinner; both were fabulous! we also loved the happy hour menu and ordered fried oysters from that to go with out steamed ones as appetizers. both oysters were delicious with sauces we had never tried on oysters before. even though it's a bar, i was happy to know that they do offer a kids menu, even though one of our kids ordered the fish and chips from the regular menu. this is certainly aplaceyou must experience while in charleston!

raw oysters - happy hour. i've been here a couple of times. bartenders are friendly, easy to talk w/ other customers, the raw oysters on the happy hour menu are fresh (unlike some raw bars that shuck the oysters hours before serving them). oyster shooters are good.

if you like fresh, raw oysters - this is theplaceto be.
