very happy at happy hour!. wow - what a great happy hour place for oysters, appetizers and drinks! terrific prices, fast and friendly service made us very happy during our first visit to pearlz. so many choices--we decided this would be our dinner! everything was fresh, very tasty and pleasantly appealing. we were disappointed when our schedule precluded us from returning one more time before leaving charleston. if you love oysters - don't miss pearlz!!

four of us for an early dinner at the bar. what a pleasure. we started with the gulf oysters, fat juicy, and full of flavor. then onto the lobster roll, and a tuna burger. without a doubt, two of the best sandwiches that we've ever eaten. this place is a real winner.

outstanding charleston seafood restaurant - well done. first time visiting charleston and wish we had started with pearlz after having more than one strikeout. pearlz delivered, worthy of falling into the quality you'd find in new orleans' french quarter that can be described only by the word 'magic'. asked for umami oysters on the half shell (in lieu of blue points) and the shucker discovered a bag of bp that had arrived before the hostess could add them as available to the wall daily catch menu. nice touch. sampled the warm crab dip, oysters rockefeller, crab bisque, crab cake sandwich and fish 'n chips. everything including seating and waiter service from beginning to end was top notch. this restaurant is very well run in my opinion, and they must pay buyers top dollar to get the great fresh produce and seafood. don't come here expecting to have the world's best steak or hamburger: this is a local seafood specialty restaurant and they do it very well. i would absolutely recommend this to anyone who appreciates a fabulous mix of southern creole / cajun / low country cuisine.

go early for happy hour. the great thing about this place is their happy hour (weekdays: 4pm-7pm) falls right in time with dinner. the downside is that everyone is there to try and take advantage of it so go early. be prepared to shuck the happy hour gulf oysters. however, the price was decent, my husband shucked away and i happily ate. fyi they do have oysters on the half shell - regular price.

you can't beat the tasty mahi mahi tacos during happy hour, two tacos for $5.95! they made a great addition to our dozen oysters.

great food!. so the first night my friends and i are in charleston we are looking for a place to eat dinner late. pearlz was one of the only places left still serving dinner around 11pm. boy what a great choice to go in. the food was fantastic. usually i don't eat seafood out unless i know the place well, and i wish i had not stuck to that last night. my friend had the seafood sliders which i tried and were downright fantastic. credit to the chef for a great meal. waitress was also great, very friendly. house brewed beer on tap and great prices...what more do you want? check out pearlz!!

we loved pearlz on our father's day weekend trip to charleston. we actually tried both locations of west ashley, charleston on friday for dinner and downtown e. bay st. on saturday for lunch. always a great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food.

good oysters with the atmosphere, came in for a few drinks and small bites. didn't partake in a main course meal, but from what i saw the wine list looked good, and they had lots of local craft beers as well

love oysters, but can't eat them raw since i'm pregnant...so i got the fried oyster taco and really was not impressed. not a lot of flavor and not crazy about the overall texture and taste of the fried oysters- it could be a pregnancy thing. had a side salad which was good. my husband enjoyed the burger and homemade chips. looked like a good place to grab cocktails and take oyster shots...but i have to save that for another time.

it was perfect for us.  we had a couple of really nice "fancy" dinners in charleston and one night we just wanted a casual place where we could hang out and enjoy the time.  we grabbed a couple of seats at the window and just people watched and enjoyed the wonderful oysters.  we downed a dozen local and then a mixed dozen and some fried and shooters as we sipped our brews and had a great time.  the place was packed.  it was apparently the happy hour place.  can't blame 'em!  loved it.
