a comment on the previous review. a forum like urban spoon is about factual, helpful, information that enables a potential customer to decide if a particular place is somewhere they care to patronize. having said that i am going to break with that statement and use this space to comment on the preceding review. the first portion of it is legitimate - the reviewer is expressing his opinion based on his specific criteria.
where i take exception is the comment that "this bakery is less a legitimate business than someone's hobby" that is purely speculative. did the reviewer speak to the owners to discover that their motivation in pouring money and effort into opening a business in these straightened economic times was purely for fun, as the term hobby seems to suggest? i think not since it is just his 'distinct impression' what about the title of thereviewwhich suggests that for lack of effort patisserie 46 is failing to achieve it's potential? because they couldn't accommodate him they must not be trying. i see.
as a business owner, i find assumptions like these particularly offensive. anyone who thinks that running a business is a lark designed for the gratification of the owner alone and not the customers is sadly mistaken. poor service exists, mistakes are made, but most decisions are more complicated than they appear and most businesses try very hard indeed.reviewthe food, decor, and service; express disappointment in the fact that the bread was not available - that is all very helpful and within the purview of the commentator, but areviewlike the one posted does a disservice to customers and businesses.
