one of the bestpoboys in town. sweet potato fries are excellent as are all thepoboys. roast beef lately has had too much gravey and can be bland for a local but a little hot sauce fixs that. go there everytime we are in town. bar staff is great and a large bloody mary is just right sunday after a weekend in the city.

if i was going to find out what the famous new orleanspoboy was all about, i was not going to do it in a tourist hot spot.

so glad we found this spot.
off the tourist map.

their fried oysterpoboy only available on mondays and wednesdays so this was top of the list. i must confess then, i didn't really look at the other menu options. but what i did see coming out the kitchen all looked delicious.

portions are huge. 2 sizes available. regular and large. large definitely more value for money, but you have to have the appetite for it! or save half for later but it won't be as fresh.
queues are long but move quickly. multiple seating options available.

thepoboy was delicious. no skimping on the fillings. several sauces and sliced jalapenos available to further enhance. but don't add too much - you don't want to distract from the flavour.

delicious.

fair. i liked it, but it wasn't as good as i thought it would be. had both surf and turf and the fried shrimppoboys. think i will stick with the single ingredientpoboys. the roast beef is overwhelming. line was very long about 30 solid minutes. good food, but i don't know if i'd bother waiting that long again. i preferred the muffuletta at cochon's butcher.

true new orleans poboy. had the roast beef pretty good. remind ofpoboys back in the day. big, overstuffed and messy. oh not to mention the great price!! well worth the price for what you get. nice set up and fair amount of seats. serve your self set up. nice bar!!

best in town. amazingpoboys. a full serving can be a little big but the ambience and great staff make the location a winner. i would highly recommend the combined roast beef and shrimppoboy. if you have a fullpoboy then split the fries or it may be too much. top it off with a barq's rootbeer for a perfect lunch.

the real bestpoboy!. parkway doesn't really need any more good reviews, but in the interest of sharing great food recommendations with all the foodies out there:
whether you live in nola, or are just visiting and are having trouble combing through the haystack of restaurants for the best authenticpoboy, this is it.
our faves: alligator sausage, caprese, roast beef sandwiches. and you must have the fries with gravy.

atmosphere is relaxed but busy, service fast and friendly, prices average and justified for the quality.

thanks for this suggestion. it wasn't on my radar and set a nearly unbeatable standard in my mind about what apoboy should be. everybody recommended the surf and turf. i have to admit that i had reservations about whether beef gravy would overwhelm the taste of shrimp. i was so very wrong. that sandwich is about as perfect as you could imagine. ours came dressed and my daughter kept saying "more" as i tore apart shrimp after luscious shrimp for her. not everything we had was perfect. the bread pudding with rum sauce was fine, but nothing special after days packed with bread pudding. the gumbo wasn't bad, but was my least favorite of the many gumbos i tried during our trip. the chunks of chorizo were delicious, but overall it could have used something special: some seafood, a bit more spice, something. we had some sweet potato fries that were crisp, sweet, and copious for the price. all in all, i wish i'd ignored all of
