great place to spend time with friends. my father and grandfather used to take here atleast twice a month. we would sit at the bar or at a table near the bar. the women working the bar area are nice and friendly, always greeting my grandfather when he walked in. one of his friends even made the wooden water mark sign hanging in the bar! a great place to start a tradition with your kids.

it is truly the best poor boy (or po’ boy, for that matter) that i have had to date. we both finished every last bite, an interesting development, since ally is about as big around as the sandwich. i loved the use of the baguette instead of a hoagie roll, which gave it a more sophisticated bite. the shrimp were not overcooked in the least bit, a skill i have yet to master in my own kitchen. add a side of crispy sweet potato fries, some zapp’s crawtator chips, and a seasonal abita strawberry beer (!!!!), and you have yourself the perfect introduction to new orleans cuisine. not

awesome!. went to parkway for the first time yesterday. got there at 12, did not realize the crowd would be so huge. got a table in the bar, was served by a very sweet waitress/bar tender. my husband got the bbq beef and loved it. my kids shared the shrimp poboy and they loved it. i got the caprese, no bread and added grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella was awesome. will be back again.

those fries!. roast beef is acceptable, nothing to write home about but also nothing to particularly avoid. those fries with debris. that's what's going on. the end.

old parkway was a dive with great sloppy roast beef poboys. new parkway is better looking, no longer a dive, and has great sloppy roast beef poboys. a good choice for informal no food.

sorry but i just don't get it..... finally went after hearing rave reviews for years. the place was so packed, the line snaked out the door, it took forever to get food, there was no table service and we had to eat on 8' plastic folding tables on a concrete pad outdoors (no one would call this a "patio"). the only seafood choice was fried popcorn shrimp. the vegetarian selections included a fried potato poboy, fried sweet potato, and a lettuce and tomato one (in fairness they also offered a caprese which was okay). they even had a gravy poboy. sounds disgusting. beyond these choices it was mostly sausage, beef and pork. food was just so-so. i won't be back.

the truth is.... ...that parkway offers the best po'boys. not just in town; they're the champions of the sandwich. surf and turf is amazing.

a plaque on the wall (see also this link; dates on link and plaque are slightly different) told the story of the eatery. opened in 1922 as a bakery, it became a sandwich shop in 1932 and has been rebuilt at least once. the meal, once the wait was over, was good. crusty bread, but softer than what you might get at paneras

fantastic shrimp po-boy; skip reuben. fantastic shrimp po-boy -- hot, properly dressed. reuben was a disaster, i could not eat it -- no cheese, corned beef tough -- if you know what a reuben should be, you will not like this one

outstanding pastrami. an excellent sandwich; simple and delicious. i prefer to dress it with provolone and creole grain mustard. i have also had the hot roast beef (generous, tasty beef and gravy), and fried shrimp poboys. the shrimp were delicious, but i think i will always prefer platter style fried seafood. service is always polite, the environment clean and welcoming with tons of seating, mostly picnic table-style.
closed on tuesdays, which is unfortunate because parkway would be a fun place for date night, and tuesdays are certainly gaining in popularity for date night instead of fri. & sat.
