it was the first time i have visited park street pasta &winebar and it was italian at its best.

the staff and service were impeccable, they were super friendly and helpful and the food arrived very quickly.

we were given complimentary focaccia lardo which melted in you mouth and was so rustic.

next i ordered the tortelli stracciatella, roasted tomato and basil oil. this was mind-blowing delicious, every bite and scoop of the tomato and basil broth was so fresh and tasty and the tortelli were really light on your stomach. it was so delicious i could have easily ordered a second plate.

for dessert i ordered the espresso semi-freddo, roasted white belgian chocolate & hazelnut which was perfect for this warm melbourne weather and tasted heavenly.

i can’t wait to return and indulge in more of this truly amazing authentic italian cuisine.

park street pasta &winehad made it on several lists and i was eager to try it out, that and i was thirsting for a proper cacio e pepe. as the name may suggest, their strength lies within their pasta, handmade everyday but it doesn't stop there as their starter dishes were also strong.

with our selection ofwinewe are given some focaccia with pork lard, spread enough so you can impart the heavy pork essence onto the bread. i may enjoy this more than butter itself!

our starters all came at once, we start off with a beautiful barbecued octopus, all three tentacles intact sitting on top of some confit potatoes and squid ink custard. the octopus was just the right amount of tenderness and the squid ink brought the umami and brininess.

the burrata was equally impressive with a whole ball (knot and all) resting on a bed of smoked eggplant caponata. the crisps on the side were used as a vessel to layer up the creamy elements and the chilli salt gave it some welcome heat.

a plate of their crispy brussels sprouts was great for snacking and could almost take its place as a side item with a pasta/main. lots of textures, saltiness from the pancetta and a reggiano custard to round it all off.

for our pasta dishes we got their cacio e pepe, simple preparation of black pepper and pecorino-romano. i'm trying to find ways to compare it to the best ones i've had but ultimately i could not fault it, the mafaldine was delightfully al dente and clung onto the sharp yet peppery sauce.

their tagliolini made with squid ink was more of a thin silky consistency and was paired with a mind blowing sauce, nduja, pippies, cuttlefish and bottarga. i'd find this one is best shared as the sauce was quite rich and spicy.

for the finale we got one of their special items, their 750g t-bone steak, aged and cooked over open flames. a majority of it was verging close to well done (should have been medium rare by default), only slightly pink where it was close to the bone but really dry elsewhere. there were a couple of good fatty pieces but that's where it ends. they could have been more liberal with the seasoning also. we did eat all of it (my friend wanted to leave some for show) but i gave him a spill as to why we should not waste food. this was made known to staff and they notched the steak off the bill which was unexpected but much appreciated, hopefully they do the produce justice. we also had a side of charred broccolini with a macadamia puree, a nice little accompaniment.

no dessert to be had, it was a combination of being full as well as disappointment in the steak. i'm sure my friends were hinting that the steak (good or bad) could have been replaced with more pasta or dessert but a good steak is hard to resist. ultimately 5 of the 6 dishes we had were fabulous and i aliken it to some of melbourne cbd's finest contemporary italian restaurants. i'm currently having dessert regret as i conclude this write-up.

came here for a lazy saturday afternoon bite, and ended up staying four hours. it's a beautiful, laidback restaurant that's got a stunning interior, and tables outside that are well-shaded for beautiful early autumn dining. service was very relaxed and friendly, and the menu is quite small which means you don't need to deliberate for ages. my friend had the cheese and pepper pasta, and i had the pappardelle. both dishes arrived swiftly after placing the order (thank god! we were starving), and both were incredible. an abundance of fresh parmesan had already been grated on top (divine), and both were seasoned to perfection. the broccolini side was ordered on the waiter's recommendation, and did not disappoint. the sparkling we ordered was delicious. this place is absolutely fantastic, and so reasonably priced. $50 will get you a bottle ofwineand a pasta dish. such great value and with fantastic service to boot, i'd come back here in a heartbeat.

this small pasta andwinerestaurant is very cosy and can be romantic. they have indoor and outdoor seatings and pretty extensive knowledge on wines. the pasta is cooked al dente. the sauces are pretty basic tasting but executed really well. excellent helpful and full of smile services too.

this place has great ambience, and the service was friendly and prompt. i would have expected, given prices, and availability of quality italian close to the cbd that the pasta would have been amazing. my sauce lacked flavour and perhaps was designed that way to showcase the pasta, however i felt it needed more punch. otherwise, romantic setting, and greatwineselection. another draw back is just how close you are seated to your neighbour.

i went there with my partner to celebrate our anniversary.
that was our first time at park street pasta & wine, we were really surprised about the so cool venue and about the really stunning service provided from the stuff.
the environment was really balanced between fancy and friendly (that was exactly what we were looking for).
the dishes were a beautiful mixed between a traditional and a modern italian cuisine.
if i could give you a little suggestion, go for the duck, that is one of the dishes that we had, and it was just amazing.
last but not least the food and thewinethat we had worth much more than what we actually paid.
thank you again for the wonderful night

we were served by wonderfully attentive staff, enjoyed deliciouswineand were blown away by the food. each dish was amazing in it's own way, particular highlights were the buratta, fried pork polpette, the agnolotti, and the lamb rack. even the charred broccoli was stunning.
would definitely recommend, and am looking forward to going back soon!

a fantastic dining experience. the friendly owner popped us in a prime sunny spot for lunch, and helped us pick a deliciouswineright away. our kingfish and polpette starters were perfect.

unfortunately with the tagliolini al nero, while the homemade pasta itself was fantastic, the sauce - too sour - and seafood - overcooked - was too avant garde for our taste. the bombolini dessert however, was so good we ordered it twice! shame they don't have a coffee machine - stovetop coffee fills the need but a fresh espresso would have been divine.

keen to explore more of the menu on repeat visits.

fo0die dined as a guest of park street pasta andwineand as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

a modern osteria located 9 minutes from southern cross station via tram 12 and close by to the beautiful old town hall. 2p parking is available on the street which has no limit after 6pm.

at the time we dined, the osteria was merely 7 weeks old and was already quite well established with a lot of locals filling up the tables as we dined into the night.

>> interior
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the restaurant is located at a corner but beware of the door that is right at the corner (it cannot be opened, trust us, we tried! the door is actually located on perrins st).
the decor is simple with proper curtains to the windows and high ceilings which gave us the formal dining room yet still with a casual atmosphere to it. the interior downstairs is cosy with wooden tables, chairs and flooring. a selection of tables is available; from bar tables near the door and bar to normal tables a step or two down from the bar.
upstairs is a 26 seater function room and the rest rooms.
>> food/drinks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the osteria offers awinelist which is served by the glass as well as by the bottle while the food menu is a single pager that lists a few items under each section of entree to share, pasta, mains, sides and desserts with a chef selection available for $60 per person.

between the two of us we had two shared entrees and a pasta each and this was more than enough.

starting off with the entrees, the octopus was beautifully presented (surprisingly!) with a beautiful tomato capsicum cashew sauce. we don't eat octopus often but it wasn't rubbery and wasn't too charred at all (barely). our other entree was an asparagus dish was served with a parmesan cream and bread crumb that was very crisp and made these otherwise simple vegetable entree, very interesting texture and flavour wise.

their pasta is freshly hand made daily on site and there is definitely a difference in the texture of the pasta which brought us back to our favourite restaurant in florence during our trip to europe, two years ago. the striking contrast of the tagliolini al nero (squid ink pasta) against the red slightly chilli sauce consisted of 'melt in your mouth' cuttlefish with the largest fresh de-shelled pippies we have ever seen (though be mindful of the odd sand here and there). while the pork bolognese carried a depth of pork flavour which we have not had in melbourne before served with thin pappardelle which were almost the width of half a lasagna sheet. both dishes were decent in serving size.

definitely one we will be suggesting to friends for italian!
