we had a previous wine tasting experience at paringa but the restaurant had been fully booked and we were unable to dine there. that was almost 2 years ago. recently we had the opportunity to visit again. the setting is very picturesque although this time spoiled a little by the vines being covered with protective netting. we also did not see as many geese! but the quality of the wine tasting and dining was excellent. although there were a few groups in the wine tasting area, we were quickly served and worked our way through the many wines available for tasting. the young man who served us was very friendly and helpful and appeared to have a good knowledge of the wines. we particularly enjoyed the white wines but were very impressed by the paringa single vineyard wines - the chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz. we also like the estate pinot gris, viognier and pinot noir. after completing our purchases, we moved to the dining area where our table was waiting for us. there is a lovely view across the vineyard. service was prompt, friendly and informative. we chose a bottle of paringa chardonnay svw for lunch. for entrees we chose the pork belly and wagyu medallion - both were delicious, tender and tasty. for mains we chose barramundi and lamb backstrap. the barramundi was presented in a very interesting style in a bowl with mushrooms, sushi rice and a broth. it was delicious - it was just firm enough. the lamb was tender and also delicious. the dishes were presented with sufficient intervals so that we could relax and enjoy the view, thefoodand the excellent wine. the chardonnay was served chilled and seemed lighter than we had tasted it in the tasting area, but, as our server promised, the flavour expanded the longer it was in the glass into a delightful chardonnay. overall it was an excellent experience. it was not quite a 5 but closer to 5 than 4 so gave it a 5.
