not to be confused with 49th and parallel, parallel 49 is a brewery tucked away in a corner of vancouver. although the neighborhood looked pretty shady and deserted from the outside, as soon as we stepped inside, i was taken aback by the lively interiors, the cute halloween themed decor everywhere, and extremely friendly service.
now already being a fan of their gypsy tears, i wanted to see what else was good. they had a pretty wide selection that day. i chose gypsy tears, pumpkin chocolate porter, a lemony one and salty scot. the porter was dark, thick, very nice. the lemony beer was so refreshing, it was like having slightly alcoholic lemonade. i tried jerkface and schadenfreude too, from my friend, and quite liked them. also, how do they have the cheapest beer of anywhere in the city?! $4 flights and $3 glasses? whaaaaa!
on the cons side, they didn't have much to eat. we settled for a warm pretzel.
