theplacewas well lit-as i would want an ice cream shop to be. they only have a few selection of ice cream flavors. theplaceis really small that it can only accommodate 4-5 people but there's an outside area / smoking area which adds more space to accommodate more customers.
from what i remember, the staff's friendly and cheerful.

i got the tsokolate de cagayan which tastes like tabléa. it was superb. i loved it. i also got the other chocolate flavor (i forgot) but the staff told me it's the spicy chocolate whatever. it was also okay. i like the tsokolate de cagayan better though. :)

interesting concept from the onset and simple facade. i find that the flavors could be better in terms of being more playful. flavors are fairly sweet and i personally like the coconut flavor. overall, i am fairly happy with thisplaceas it offers value for money as well :)

ordered the roasted forbidden rice (the one a the bottom part) and farm cheese (with the cone on it).

for the sake of trying these all natural, freshly made goodness ice cream from a cow's milk, i am truly satisfied with what i had. it was the taste on my palette that words cannot put any expression. i'm so out of adjectives to describe or distinguish what's on these ice cream. but i believe that i've tasted coconut milk.. 😸

we went to their branch besides crepe man. they have a small space but looks so cozy and homey. the decorations and colors are so refreshing to the eyes. they have given really much thought into this place. this is not one of your average ice cream shops. i think they almost had everything you would look for in aplaceto unwind or chat with a good friend.

thisplaceis quaint. it is quite small and can seat about 5-7 people inside but there is a patio area which is an area shared with other restaurants besides it. they use local resources which is a plus for me (support local farmers!). their ice cream flavors changes everyday.

i was able to taste test all the available ice cream they had that day. my favorite, and what i got was mother's love (panatcha flavor). i like that they have rather exotic flavors such as tarragon which is my next choice or the mango flavored ice cream with pili nuts. they also had a black rice ice cream which i though was lacking in taste. the davao meets bicol (chocolate with chili) was another interesting flavor as well as the basil leaf. they have interesting names for some of their ice cream which gives them character.

for their ice cream sandwich, you can choose to have chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal, ginger, or peanut butter. it does not have to be the same flavors fpr both cookies as you can have 2. i liked the design on the plate. the price was good though do not get single scoop (unless you're on a diet).

staff seemed really nice and accommodating.

would have given a 5 butplacewas small inside, otherwise i really like this place. i would definitely come back.

finally had the chance to taste one of the best ice cream stores in qc. i've been hearing about thisplacefor months and was too curious why people love it so much. it was not a disappointment. i really enjoy their handcrafted flavors; that's what makes it special!

theplaceis adorable!! despite the small space it occupies in the restaurant complex, each space is used quite well--wall decor, ceiling lighting with books consistent with its csr program, posters about the thrust of the place, bar stools and little tables, and outdoor seating. a photograph of who i assume is "papa diddi" was on a high shelf.
the attendant was very nice and accommodating, and i like how this dessertplacelets people do taste-testing. works well because the flavors are very unique. today, the selection of ice creams were davao meets bicol (hmm, relevant right now, wouldn't you say?), tarragon, basil, mother's love, tres leches, double chocolate, and peanut butter and jelly. i tried the davao meets bicol in the taste-test, but ended up getting a scoop each of pb&j and mother's love. the pb&j is a peanut-y flavor that is not nakakaumay (probably due to the swirl of jelly in the flavor?). the mother's love, on the other hand, is a kalamay-tasting ice cream that reminds one of the experience of eating sundot-kulangot.
my boyfriend ordered a scoop of double chocolate, which was probably the best dark chocolate-tasting ice cream i have ever had. i had a taste of his tres leches scoop as well--it was heavenly. creamy and filling, it provided a nice contrast to the double chocolate scoop. my boyfriend liked it so much, he said he would order a triple scoop of tres leches next time. from the looks of the tubs, the tarragon and the tres leches were best sellers for the day. maybe one day i'll try out the spice-flavored ice creams, hehe.
i like the touch of putting a sugarcone on top of the scoops--very instagram-able and adorable as heck. i can't wait to come back and chance on some more of their flavors. i love how my experience at papa diddi's was cooling due to the frozen treat, and at the same time heart-warming because you know you're eating not just for yourself, but to help others as well.

update: tried cheese closed (cheese ice cream with cheese bits, okay lang); roasted forbidden rice (second best i've ever had, such a nice complex flavor with rice grains that are delightfully chewy); davao meets bicol aka best flavor ever (dark chocolate with an after taste of chili).

whoever papa diddi is, i would like to thank him a thousand times over! i love papa diddi's ice cream flavors. they're all truly handcrafted as there are no other places that sell the flavors they have. my personal favorite is tres leches; i would recommend anyone to try it. you can also purchase a pint if you would like to take one or two (or all) of the flavors home. i visit thisplaceprobably once every month and the flavor has not changed. 6/5 would recommend ❤️

ordered churros with ice cream. had tres leches flavor for the ice cream. the ice cream flavor we picked fitted the churros and every bite was magic. the coldness of the ice cream integrates well with the heat you get from the churros therefore making an exceptional taste... and it was just so crazy. idk what happened but in every bite, i would close my eyes and smile as if i've reached the heavens. went there on a weekday and theplacewas not crowded. welp, all i can say is that it became my haven already, i wanna come back!!! best ice cream and churros i've ever had.

second review: october 2018 - 5/5

after having our pre-dinner game at snack shack, josh wanted to have desserts at papa diddi's already... and of course, i agreed (even if i wanted to have more savory food). papa diddi's is another one of our favorites, and is always my top of my ice cream parlor when in maginhawa. 🍨🍦stop # 2, here we go!

i was surprised that they opened up another shop near its original branch, with the two branches now sandwiching crepeman. it still has the same address though, so its more of a branch extension than a new branch. 😁 according to the staff, the shop we went to (the new one, right by the corner of the street) offers more flavors than the original branch. you can probably check between the two branches which one offers your favorites, though. 😉

josh and i always get their three scoops (php 145) for sharing. this time, we had the following flavors: matcha tea, chocolate lovin', and blue butterfly tea. it's our first time to try these flavors! the matcha tea had a mild matcha taste, and matcha lovers might find it too creamy (more of a white chocolatey matcha). however, josh enjoyed it, as it didn't taste too earthy. contrary to what we thought, the chocolate lovin' was surprisingly not too sweet, as it is made from tablea. it had a slight bitter aftertaste, which is okay for us. on the other hand, the blue butterfly tea was something new for us! the taste of this flavor is quite hard to explain... it had an earthy taste, and was quite "fragrant". it was actually quite good, especially when paired with the other two flavors we got!

of course, we recommended the roasted forbidden rice (ultimate fave!!!) to the others, especially since it is a unique, must-try flavor when in papa diddi's. 😍 if you haven't visited thisplaceyet, please visit them asap! their ice creams are too good to miss out on! ❤️

when in maginhawa area, papa diddi's is forever my top-of-mind choice for desserts! 💖 i mean, where else can you get these all-natural, handcrafted filipino ice cream flavors? 👌their flavors are quite unique too!

a 3-scoop cup costs php 145, great value for money, if you ask me. this can already be shared by two people (josh and i always share this one!). today, we got the following flavors: 1. roasted forbidden rice (our all-time favorite), which has bits of black rice for added texture and a roasted rice flavor that's creamy and not too sweet. 2. platanos con leche, a banana and milk flavored ice cream that's simple yet surprisingly comforting, with a texture similar to mashed frozen bananas. 3. galletas y crema, pd's version of cookies and creme ice cream with a twist, as they mixed in tablea with this, making it more chocolatey without the added extreme sweetness. their ice cream are all so creamy, natural, and never extremely sweet, i fall deeper in love with it each time i try it. 😋 in case you want to veer away from the usual, you may opt to try their ice cream in a bun, ice cream sandwiched between two homemade cookies, or ice cream and churros! all these are priced affordably at php 145, too! 💖

the service here is awesome too, as their staff patiently explain what's in each flavor whenever you ask, and they are generous in giving out free taste of their unique flavors, too!

how about you, what's your favorite flavor at papa diddi's? 🍨

*menu here is outdated. see new menu in the photos below.

i came here expecting awesome burgers and milkshakes! the burger was...not awesome...but the milkshake was good (only a tad too sweet)! the champorado with bagnet was pretty okay as well. the ice cream was good, but not as good as i expected from a "handcrafted ice cream shop." it's worth a try, though.

theplacelooked nice, but was small and felt cramped. servers were attentive and service was excellent!
