i would say, my recent experience with this restaurant was a big and bold bad. i've been to this place 7 times and on each visit i felt the quality got degraded in terms of food and service.
we reached the place by 9:45 pm yesterday, i asked if the kitchen is still open. the staff greeted us and showed us our table. since we are hungry after having a long day, we ordered a biryani which was also overpriced and ordered gingerchicken(which is not in the menu btw) for starters and kadaichicken(without looking into the menu). after he's gone with the order, i quickly went through the menu, only to find out that two of the things which we ordered were not in the menu. i called upon the waiter and asked, how did he take the order when it's not in the menu. the answer he gave was 'we have a lot of items sir, which are not listed in the menu' (i felt like he said 'whatever you may name it, we will serve a single dish').
and there comes the gingerchickenafter 15 minutes without any ginger flavor and more of chilies. damn, they are serving chillychickenfor gingerchickennow!!
next followed the biryani with rotten spices in it. yes, you read it right, a lump of rotten masala/spices is in the biryani and it is rotten (the onions may be), when i slid the spoon with that part in my mouth, i felt like chopping off my tongue with a red hot knife. i didn't create a scene there, by shouting at them or by refusing to pay the bill, as am not that kind of a person, i kept aside that part of biryani and had the rest of the rice with the salt-less kadaichicken(as i called it, since i really don't know what it is).
am not sitting completely on the darker side, about this restaurant, my previous visit was good, which was just one week earlier, food wasn't that great as it was on my first visit, but decent. and is this restaurant even star rated, i don't understand, why their prices are not regulated, a rs.20 soft drink can was billed for rs.65 (i.e. around 325% of rs.20), seriously? fine, am not going to comment much on regulations as i have little knowledge about them.
my view of a good restaurateur (or his/her staff):
-> never says that 'we serve more dishes than what we've listed in the menu'.
-> when a customer tries to order a dish that is not listed in the menu, says a 'no'.
-> never shows a scr (service charge) under/along with the extra charges, the customers would tip them, if they really liked the food, you don't leech out of them.
here's my verdict of all 7 visits, six of them being dinners and one being a lunch:
visit 1 : very good, 3.5/5 (buffet)
visit 2 : good, 3/5
visit 3 : good, 3/5 (buffet)
visit 4 : average, 2.5/5
visit 5 : average, 2.5/5
visit 6 : good, 3/5 (lunch, not a buffet)
visit 7 : bad, 2/5
pros:
-> beach view
-> ambience
cons:
-> gradually degrading food quality
-> pricing
-> service
-> menu
