we saw the reviews for the pancake pantry and decided to try them out for breakfast. it has a very "breakfast diner" decor and feel to it but the food is great.

i had their cornmeal pancakes (cornmeal with green chili peppers, bacon, and cheddar cheese mixed in). my wife had their french toast which was 6 thick slices of actual french bread with delicious cinnamon syrup.

the food really was fabulous and i would love to try other options to see what their fruitier options are. that said don't bother with anything other than pancakes, french toast, or waffles. the rest just looked sub-par and could probably be found elsewhere with better quality.

you should be prepared to wait between 10 minutes and 1 hour (depending on the time) but they do a great job of moving at a breakneck speed.

if you are in the nashville area and want a southern pancake breakfast definitely give the pancake pantry a try.

good food + service. lets start off with what the pancake pantry is not.......it is not hurried, overcrowded (inside) or frazzled. after waiting for over 20 minutes to get inside on a late tuesday morning, i was surprised to see lots of unhurried diners sitting at tables with lots of space between them. my first thought was that they could add more tables to accomodate the big crowds. after 50 years of service, you have to trust that they really know what they are doing. efficient kitchen and service make this place special. of course, the pancakes are amazing. again, it is the quality, not the quantity. in fact, the portions are at best average. i had the carribbean.....with just the right amount of coconut and nuts + bananas. others tried the peach (wow), raspberry and blueberry pancakes. we even had an egg/bacon sandwich (good). the hash browns are good but are heavy on the butter and a bit hefty at $3.10. also, the secret cinnamon sauce (along with the syrup) are a great topper.
this place is well worth the wait......when you finally make it to the front of the line you will be rewarded with good coffee and unbelieveable flavor combinations. dont miss it!

a must do.... if i have been to gatlinburg, and haven't eaten at pancake pantry - then i feel cheated by life. i typically get the morning star, where the trick is to get the eggs over easy or over medium. if you don't have a runny yoke, the dish is too dry - so don't ruin it by mis-ordering. the pancakes have a distinctive taste, which are addictive. the grits are fine. the lunch sandwiches are tasty, either with the dressing choice or the dip in french onion.. ...and make sure that you don't miss the cucumber salad thing (w/ onions in some sort of sweet milky liquid). no idea what it is, but it is unbelievable... hope you love this place too...

great selection of pancakes- options you don't get at a normal breakfast chain. seemed a bit overpriced so not a great value but if you are looking for a unique breakfast this is great!

good but pricey. the food is good... the raspberry crepes my son ate were delicious..mine were good, however i ordered the georgia peach, and found the cold peaches in the center to be a disapointment. maybe that is just me, but a warm creamy center full of peaches is what i expected. i feel it's a bit overpriced...two kids yep adults for breakfast cost me @75. an order of crepes and one drink your looking at 15 ..add a side of fruit, or bacon it's now it's over 20 ...just for one person ...good, but i can find great and not go broke.

the line is long full of tourists and the breakfast was weak. this is an overhyped waste of time.

it's worth the line. i have been going to pancake pantry ever since i was little and though the line can be originally intimidating it's worth the delicious pancakes you'll eat once you get inside! my suggestion would to try and go for breakfast/brunch on the weekdays instead of weekends because that is when it's the most crazy

don!t bother. a pancake house that doesn't offer real maple syrup - really!!

also - read the small print on the door before you go in -this is a cash only restaurant -no checks no credit cards.

first of all the line is much less intimidating that it looks. we did wait about 30-45 minutes. but the wait was worth it. once i saw why we were waiting i understood. secondly, the staff works hard to get people seated. i saw that hostess literally seat three different parties at the same time!!! the tables move as the customers do. the staff maximizes the space of the restaurant quite nicely. talk about efficiency!!! lastly, the food!!!! it was indeed good. i had the sweet potato pancakes with scrambled eggs, and sausage patties! i had two kinds of syrup and both were great! the portions are huge and the wait time once you are seated isn't bad at all. did i finish my food??? heck no, but a to go box was in order! all and all i would definitely go again. oh and they had a perfect 100 on the health score!!! clean, good, and fast!!!

overpriced. low quality for price. most breakfest items are 11$ or more. dont get me wrong the food is not bad just extremly overpriced. then to top it off cash only. no problem though there id a atm in store with a 3$ service charge. what a coincidence. its a well dresed old lady racket. enjoy.
