pancake pantry

food was great. not the best i’ve had but it’s the best i’ve had in this state so far. but it is definitely second favorite place. i had the banana bread pancakes with bananas on top. the eggs i got with cheese and it looks as if they put real cheese on them. fantastic. not everyone does that. it was packed so we ended up sitting with a stranger which we had a choice. we didn’t mind. we were starving after running the nashville half marathon. but we didn’twaitlong and we are definitely going back as i plan to take my parents as well.

seriously.....why does everyonewaitin line for this place?

i did not like it. i rate it a 6 of 10 and i think i am being generous.

first, the we waited for 1.5 hrs despite the call we made ahead of time and they said 45 minutes.

after we got in, and were seated, they said for us to bear with them because our server was behind. well, they are always full and do not allow anyone in until someone leaves, so how was this unexpected, and how did they let her get behind?

i asked about the size of pancakes making a gesture about the size of a denny's pancake and she looked a little annoyed and said that they were smaller, by a bit.

got the food we ordered and the pancakes (buttermilk) were actually tasty. i usually order eggs over medium, so if they are a little too soft or firm, i don't mind, since it is usually a tough thing to do when they are rushed. but their eggs were done properly. these are nice things, but not 45 minwaitnice.
found hair on my food. thought it could be mine so i removed it and started eating. no biggie. that was until i found one in my son's food as well. syrup was good and homemade.

server also let my drink run out for a while.

so with wait, portion size, the hairs, and the poor service, i will not go back. if they had been just ok, at least, i probably wouldn't go back due to the wait. i'll stick with ihop and denny's.

what a disappointment. service was beyond horrible. she forgot my pancakes, passed table 5 times with no eye contact, forgot to bring a napkin, never asked if meal was ok, never cleared empty plates when pancakes finally arrived. had towaitfor check she was too busy filling sugars at empty tables. we arrived after rush, place had maybe ten tables with patrons, not busy. the food was maybe a score of 3 or 4, boring, bland, small portions, no plate garnish.....here's your two eggs on a dinner plate....what a joke! cashier was just as indifferent , both never asked once if our meal was ok....unbelievable. we are big tippers....left her $2 and she was lucky to get that.

while always crowded for breakfast with a line wrapping around into "the village", the food and service are both wonderful. if you would like a shorterwaitand less crowd try eating here for brunch or lunch instead of breakfast. pancake pantry offers both sweet and savory options from crepes to breakfast fare, sandwiches, and specialty items. eating here is a delightfully, tasty tradition for many.

we went their again recently in support of the town after the great fire.  the good news is that we got into the pancake pantry for breakfast with nowaitline (about 2/3s full).  all 4 of us ordered the crepes which we knew were very good.  we had raspberry, mixed berry, apple and pineapple.  the berry ones were the top rated by the group with mixed berry being the favorite.  they were all good but that was the conclusion of our group.  the place is always clean with good service and we were happy to see the place doing well even though the owners/workers had suffered due to the fire.  best pancake place in east tn, bar none!  keep up the tradition!

my friends and i ate here with visiting nashville for the weekend and it was absolutely amazing. we waited over an hour in the snow and freezing cold and it was so so so worth it! our server was so polite and fast. we got our food quickly and everything was hot and delicious! there wasn't a single complaint throughout our whole table, everything was cooked perfectly! i'm willing towaitin the cold and rain again for a meal like that again.

this place has been around forever which means they must be doing something right.  that being said it has become very popular with tourist and is always very busy.  expect towaitif you don't get there early.  we love the old school feel of the place and really enjoy the food.  it's a must stop for us whenever we want breakfast in gatlinburg.  if you haven't been to the pancake pantry then you really haven't been to gatlinburg.

the wild blue berry pancakes was very good. the special was scrambled eggs was good but a little expensive for the amount of food. service was good with a lot of people being served. had towaitin line but only for 10-15 minutes. next time, i'll stay with the pancakes.

this place is delicious!!! i go to nashville often for preds games and i can't believe i just made it here this past may! we waited outside about 30 minutes on a sunday morning (which is normal apparently) but it was worth it!!! the pancakes were delicious, my eggs had cheese oozing out of them, the bacon was crispy....i can'twaitto go back!

so good! we didn'twaitthough. we came early on a friday morning and walked right in. the prices are normal and we got our food fast and we actually ordered more pancakes because they were that good. people who are writing negative reviews were expecting too much .... it's a restaurant... making pancakes.... do you want them to wipe your mouth and feed you too? it's delicious and i would recommend it to anyone visiting nashville.

love!!! if you haven't been here then you are really missing out! their chocolate chip pancakes and french toast are two of the best dishes on the menu! the pancake pantry has been a must go every time we are in gatlinburg for many years. this location is definitely better than the one in nashville! just remember to get there really early in the morning so you won't have towaitin line too long... it's very much worth it!!

you only need to know one thing about the pancake pantry. everything is slathered in glorious whipped butter. just watching the kitchen andwaitstaff perform their high speed ballet is worth the wait.

great food and great environment. you better wake up early if you don't want towaitin line!

good but not sure it's all that. in nashville on business and read about this place in a magazine while on the airplane-figured i would have to try it. it has a nondescript exterior that i almost missed when walking by. inside its really just a large room with the kitchen in the back. i don't really like the ambience of restaurants that seem like huge banquet halls inside- which is what this reminded me of but i was there for the food not the scene. the place was crowded at 1:30 on a monday...though within 15 minutes it seemed the late lunch crowd had cleared. i tried the sugar and spice panckes. tried them with maple syrup and the cinnamon cream syrup. i really thought i would love the cinnamon cream as i generally love all things cinnamon but it was just ok. the pancakes were pretty good but i have had fluffier cakes elsewhere. what i liked best was their maple syrup. service was fast and friendly. if you would like to try different kinds of pancakes give it a try, otherwise i wouldn'twaittoo long for a table here.
