awesome atmosphere. really great location with beautiful decor and lot of history. not much for vegetarians to eat, and almost nothing for vegans. the greek salad is good, but overpriced. better place to get drinks or pizza. best thing i've had is their delicious fruit-filled sangria.

loved this place. its kinda like an hidden gem inside one hotel on a not so busy street. the decoration was amazing. the food was very good, with good service and a great price. i went for a carne pizza and a burguer to share with a friend and it was a great ideia indeed. i liked way more the pizza then the burguer but i would recommend both.

i love the owl bar and it's wonderful staff. the food is never a disappointment and they are eager and polite to adjust it to your taste. the best martini in the entire state. the only thing i would change if it were my place is that i would hang tapestry rugs from the ceiling to absorb the noise. hard to have a conversation. but i love love love it there.

my good friend just moved to mount vernon and we were looking for a quick bite.   the owl bar  was perfect.  i have had drinks, but hadn’t tried the food. it’s located in the belvedere on chase street, so we were able to walk from her new apartment. we were easily able to snag two seats at the bar.  the bartender was funny, there when we needed him, but not overly attentive.  we were looking for a good burger, but weren’t super hungry.  i was having a hard time deciding between all of their burger choices.  but decided to keep it simple and split the owl bar burger. as you can see we added the duck fat fries!  i think they might have been better than the ones at salt .  they serve them with truffle aioli and a little park on top.  i am 100% sure, we didn’t leave a single one the plate. now, take a look at that burger – it was their own “special blend of chuck, short rib and brisket”.  they topped it with the classic l,t, american cheese,  su

i have this strange idea that getting snowed into a bar could potentially be a ton of fun. on a snowy sunday evening, my friend and i headed over to the owl bar in  mount vernon to try and make my fantasy a reality. the restaurant is located inside the belvedere hotel and has some really rich history. during prohibition, it was one of few speakeasies open. inside there are plenty of owl themed decorations which goes nicely with the name. this is a place worth visiting for the history alone. owl bar – photo credit http://bsinbmore.wordpress.com/ this was definitely a beer and burger kind of night. on the menu they advertised a yard of beer that they could fill with any of their beers on tap. after looking over the beer list (they had some nice options) we decided to share the leinenkugel’s sunset wheat. it was nice and light and would go down smoothly with our burgers. the beer had notes of orange and blueberry, and a tart, citrusy finish. it went down smoothly and we made a great choic

i love the owl bar. the atmosphere is cozy, highly conducive to meetings. the free wifi is a nice amenity. i've been coming here since my college days at university of baltimore.

awesome pizza. yes iggie's is the best in mt.vernon, but owl bar is a close second in my opinion. it's a good place to go out for a casual dinner with friends who want good beer and interesting toppings for their pizza.

ahhhh the owl bar. it’s been around a while. nestled within the not-really-a-hotel belvedere hotel, this mainstay bar has been through its ups and downs, good times and bad, all of which are completely irrelevant to talking about nachos. fortunately, and relevant to nachos, the nachos at owl bar are pretty great.

horrible. don't waste your time.. my experience here was the worst dining experience i've ever had. we (a table of 6) sat at our table without being greeted by our waitress for over 30 minutes. once greeted, it took 20 minutes to receive our drinks. my bill was overcharged by more than $50. i asked for my waitress 4x to different staff members yet she was unable to be found, despite there only being one other table of people in the room. after finding her she said she would take care of it. i left with intention to call the next day to follow up with the issue. ***watch out they will add gratuity without telling you or writing it on the bill.*** i called the next day and spoke with the manager which screamed, yelled, and cursed at me on the phone. he told me i had "no common sense" to leave the establishment without fixing the issue (which i made multiple attempts to find a manager or the owner.) he had nothing but excuses and blamed the $50 overcharge on me. i would avoid this place at all costs, especially after reading the comments left by others.

never again!. on january 4, 2012, twelve friends and i decided to celebrate our friend's 36th birthday at the owl bar. the service was horrible and the manager was extremely rude. we all eat out often and have never received such poor service. it made us feel as if our money was not good and reminded us that in 2012 we are still dealing with racism. due to us having a large party, the gratuity was included but was not deserved. when we spoke to the manager about our waitress' service, his response was "she did a great job". this was news to us , as this was the first time we had seen the manager the whole night and the waitress was also nowhere to be found. to add insult to injury, the manger asked us to look around; pointing out that we were the only african american party in the restaurant. he also noted that we were placed in the back of the restaurant so that we could be hidden from the other patrons.

the manager was not willing to compromise about the restaurant only accepted "three credit cards" when it is a large party and the waitress's gratuity is already included. our party was not informed of this "three credit card" rule prior to ordering. the manager's suggestion was that we walk to an atm. i felt this was an inappropriate request. i do not think the manager should have requested us to leave the establishment, walk to an atm machine, and incur bank fees when he could have easily made an exception.

once the bill was paid, minus the gratuity, our party exited the establishment. three members of our party used the valet service. the manager held the cars at the valet so that he could call the police. when the police arrived the manager and waitress explained our party tried to "skip out on our bill without paying." we asked the police officers to play back the call, and the manager said "seven out of twelve black people left without paying". if we were trying to "skip on the bill" we would not have stayed around to talk to the police. the police explained a warrant would be put out for our arrest and we were obligated to pay the gratuity. in the end, we paid the gratuity. our party could have chosen another establishment but we heard excellent reviews about this restaurant. the food was great, but night ended horribly, so to eat our leftovers would only remind of us of the services we were subjected too. the owl bar has lost thirteen customers for life; we will never come again. i will report this incident tobetter business bureau.

if you want a place to get away from it all, and for fairly decent prices, this might be the place for you.

by far the most racist & insulting place i've been to in baltimore. didnt realize that the minimum waged job of a hostest required you to have secret head, arm, and eye gestures when seating thier guest. only to find that running down a list of open eateries still open in the area is part of thier luke warm greeting. after 2nd guessing the intentions of my initial greeting,i was sat at an unset table with stianed linen. my drink order was taken by 3 different people inwhich i thought was strange being as though it was mid day and the place was empty. after the 4th person arrived with our drinks i seen that the "naw i dont want them" shuffle was over and we were being served by a hyper active person who seemed high as the heavens. the food was good and the server was a hoot. there were unexplained additional charges on my bill and a hand writen suggested tip opption compaired with my total. speaking with managment was unsatisfying and pointless. obviously if equal service is target it was completely missed. i felt very unwelcomed and my luch date cried in the car...im normaly a easy going guy and not hard to please, but that visit was shamless! with no black/asian or any other ethnicisity seen,i should have know what was to follow.i would tell my experiance to the world & never spend my money in a place as such
