great experience every time!. i've been to osaka (bandera location) many times and each time the food is delicious!! yes, sometimes the sushi doesn't come out altogether but what do you expect? it's sushi. the chef only has one set of hands; it's not like steaks where you can grill 10 of them at once. expecting all 5 or 6 of your rolls to come out all at once is a little unreasonable. if you'd like your meal to arrive all out once, simply ask your server to hold and wait until it's all prepared. the staff is so friendly, i will definitely continue going back! try the super mario!!

i have eaten here many times and have always had great service; in fact, i haven't been to any other sushi restaurant in over a year. i've never had the hibachi - i'm there for the sushi, but i have always been greeted warmly. once they were understaffed for the evening and we had to wait just a little bit because they were very busy. i know they tend to hire college kids for basic seating and service and i can imagine the call out rate around finals and summer time shenanigans.

with that said, the service has always been at minimum "to be expected given circumstances". the are always kind. the chef behind the bar i swear only speak japanese. it's the only language he'll respond to me in. he's not rude and isn't judgmental that i am not fluent.

the food has never been "bad" and i've been eating sushi since i was young. i've had bad sushi (a-tan) and this place has never had bad sushi. their prices are only fair considering the atmosphere, location, and parking; but they are easy to find.
the parking does suck if you, like many texans, have a large truck. it's doable, but it is a small lot behind the restaurant and can be a tight fit on a busy evening.

for myself and my young son, i typically spend about 40-50 dollars between soup, edamame, 2-4 different roll dishes and drinks.  i've not been around for the happy hour yet.

i hope this helps and keep in mind there is another osaka that i've heard is rude and has otherwise horrible service.

came here for lunch. atmosphere was nice. seems clean staff friendly. i ordered the jalapeño bomb and the american ninja roll. both were very tasty the only reason for the markdown was because i asked for the jalapeño bomb as an appetizer and it came out with my meal. that defeats the purpose of an appetizer. other than that great place. will come back.

definitely underwhelming in almost every way. sesame chicken was bland, teriyaki steak was also bland, and in fact not steak, it was glued steak. service was inexperienced, and rude. atmosphere was also underwhelming. our bill was $56 for a glued teriyaki steak, sesame chicken, gyoza (the only pleasing dish we had), 2 iced teas, and one beer. we were up charged $6 for fried rice, even though we ordered brown rice. when we brought that to the waiters attention, he told us we ordered fried and he wasn't taking it off the bill. by far the worst food we've had in sa. with 10,000 restaurants in san antonio, and sapporo (the best real japanese food in the city) to compete with, don't waste your time or $$$ at osaka.

osaka happy hour m-thr & saw on the menu they now have a weekend happy hour! woohoo!. just went last monday for sushi happy hour. yum. i got the wonderful rainbow roll & the philadelphia roll (2 for $15 or 3 for $21 also found out they have a weekend happy hour but i don't remember the prices just saw it on the menu) you can't beat that w/a stick & they were wonderful. i love their sushi happy hour. i shared my rolls w/my son since they are so huge. i believe my brother got the broadway roll. i tried a piece of it & will have to give that one another try. i am not sure if i like it or not. all tasted fresh & held together beautifully. had my first sake bomb, it was good but i like the sake separate better. i enjoy trying different sushi places in sa but i am a repeat customer to this one over & over.

the most absolutely disgusting bathrooms i've ever encountered in a restaurant. for the amount you are paying at this restaurant, you would think they could get their bathrooms in better shape. sooo gross!!!

is there a 1/2 star or no star option?? i read some negative reviews prior to our recent dining "experience" at osaka. some warned against doing the hibachi but they were old and i thought surely they've corrected the issues...that would be a big negative! my family and i went this weekend and found this place to be an embarrassment when it comes to hibachi and good food service. where do i begin? our waitress took our drink order then disappeared, only seemed to show up to give us "bad news" (out of sea bass sushi, "do we want to wait on salads?" as they made more). when she would return, she had forgotten to bring what we asked for (chopsticks, salt/pepper, sauces, etc...my bro n law had to get up and get several things himself). once the seemingly disgruntled chef showed up, he basically muttered things and began cooking flavorless food (didn't use butter, seasoning, anything) and basically slung the food on our plates. he actually called a "timeout" at one point to go get dipping sauces (that our waitress wasn't) after asking us who our waitress was (how the hell should we know...and why don't you?!" i kept thinking). very umprofessional. bottom line, service & food we're terrible for any restaurant charging $25+/plate! might wanna step it up guys before u become another 'failed restaurant' statistic! lots of better choices in town...avoid. shoguns actually beats this place hands down imo!
