i've been here twice now, both times for a special occasion. i was very impressed the firsttimewhich prompted the second visit. the food was delicious and everyone was happy with their dish. the server could have done a better job of listening when we ordered. the only down i have is actual from one of the young ladies who seat people. she was wearing a tank dress that showed her bra both in the front and on the sides. i felt that her level of modesty was lacking and could be improved. other than that, i will return again.

sometimes very rude customer service and inconsistent food quality. i really want to like this place so i keep giving it extra chances. i have honestly hoped that when i have had a bad experience there that it was just an anomaly but unfortunately i think the truth is the odds are similar to flipping a coin. sometimes the food is great, sometimes it’s bad. sometimes the customer service is okay but often it’s not (especially more recently). i’ve had errors made on my food orders and drinks; have had rude customer service (feeling really rushed, food servers or bartenders with bad attitude that acted like they hated their jobs, recently a waitress that hung out at a couple tables flirting with groups of what appeared to be business men in their 50’s or 60’s - looked like she was flirting for tips while ignoring her other tables, have overheard foodservers gossiping or giving customers dirty looks from a distance (no joke), pretty unprofessional stuff for people working in people oriented careers). for the prices, the food should be consistently well prepared. the seafood dish i had most recently was very greasy (floating in butter). portions were very small which would have been okay if the fillets were good quality cuts but they were not. they would have been better suited for fish chowder chunks (seriously). why do i want to like this place? i’m not sure, maybe it’s the cozy atmosphere or the location, but it’s had a few chances too many.timeto move on to a place that has consistently good service with employees that are welcoming and pleasant and dependable quality and well prepared food. too many other food choices in anchorage to settle for this.

horrible service, but good food.. i got the chicken fettuccine while my gf got the loaded mac n cheese. my dish was just as good as olive garden's, and my gf's dish was very filling. here's came with a small crab leg that was perfectly cooked. but then it cametimefor the bill, me and my gf literally waited thirty minutes to get our credit cards back. we could have dined and dashed and they would not have even noticed, we were seated far from the door.

birthday dinner. went here for my daughter's 17th birthday dinner - she wanted glacier brewhouse but they were closed for remodeling. chose orso's because it's a "grown-up" restaurant that still offers italian soda's - her birthday request. my son had a hardtimefinding something "normal" to eat - finally had filet w/fries. but the rest of us enjoyed our choices. dau had crab mac'n'cheese - i had the leftovers a couple of days later - marvelous!! i had some type of fish stuffed with crab and it was amazing! my husband had a shrimp pasta that he enjoyed but said he would try something different next time. they gave the birthday girl a free dessert of her choice. it's definitely spendy, but very nice for a special event.

nice splurge dinner. when i used to travel to anchorage for work i'd eat at orso, and everytimedidn't get what the fuss was about. when we moved up here permanently neither my husband nor i had any intention of going - until our realtor gave us a gift card as a "thanks for your business" gift; can't pass up a free dinner.

i was pleasantly surprised. i ordered the halibut with scallops and couscous with a caper sauce. the halibut and scallops were perfectly cooked, though the accompanying sauce was a bit too salty. i cannot remember what my husband ordered (he changed his mind at the last minute), but his was good as well.

maybe it was because i went in with such low expectations, but i've moved orso, if not into the favorite category, into the "i'll no longer tell somebody not to eat there" category.

best deal on king crab dinner. you will not get a better priced king crab dinner anywhere else, its why i go! the lasttimei went it took way way to long to get our check and i'm not exaggerating here, from thetimewe ordered desert to thetimewe got it was 40 minutes...wtf mate right? its like they baked it 20 minutes after we ordered it. my other experiences have been positive, and we were sitting in the bar so maybe this caused us to get "forgotten". i would go here again because i'm happy with the quality of the food but hopefully the service is better next time.

my husband and i went for our anniversary (7/5/10). our waiter was really nice & took thetimeto suggest dishes that could be prepared quickly, since we were trying to catch a movie after dinner. he even tooktimeto explain how & why they made the hummus the way they do. we both ordered halibut-mine grilled, and hubby got cashew-crusted. both were delicious! my polenta was perfect-creamy, cheesy..and the asparagus was so fresh! wow! we didn't havetimefor dessert, but we will definitely go back again!!

top shelf and casual. firsttimevisit, great experience! anniversary dinner with my wife. i booked online easily, their site recommended nearby parking which was easy, reservation was ontimeand we were seated in the upper level. service was fantastic and they made special effort to celebrate our special event. steaks were amazing, crispy ravioli appetizer was great and the desserts were excellent. the place is not a pretentious suit and tie white table cloth type place. a little upscale but comfortable and casual. best dining experience i've had in the city. five stars from us!

fabulous!! the food is truly an experience. i honestly doubt there is a single bad dish. firsttimei visited i ordered off their seasonal/specials meal (pork belly) and was blown away. my second visit had me ordering off the regular menu (crab cakes, lamb oso buco) and it was out of this world. for someone who doesn't like crabcajes - i would order them at orso in a heart beat! i can't wait to eat here again.

for lunch.... only been here a few times for lunch, mostly with a big group, to celebrate some occasion at work. each time, the service was very accomodating, and the food good. usually at these events,timeis of the essence, and they didn't seem to disappoint, or get the orders wrong.

service was slow. food was so-so. seemed like the chefs and owners spent too muchtimewatching the food network.

our favorite couple spot. our firsttimewe didn't know what type of place it was. the family walked in after a day of exploring d/t and they treated us with excellent service and great food. we've been back several times (just the two of us) and always enjoy the meal and service.

great place / outstanding bar / super ribeye. found this restaurant on my last visit up to anchorage, didn't know that it was part of the same company that owns glacier brewhouse. right next to each other, connected by a hallway with a couple of nice gift shops. the bar is outstanding and the food i tried was worth going back for many times. i started with a caprese salad and the tomatoes were very ripe and flavorful, mozzarella was tasty and the basil/olive oil was just right. ended up having the pepper crusted rib eye, ordered medium rare and it came out perfect. what a great steak and what a great place. i was dining alone and had a greattimeat the bar people watching and chatting with the bartenders.
