iorderedthe crispy ravioli, which seemed like a heart attack on a plate. i didn't really know what i was ordering, so i basically had fried cheese for lunch.

great food! i have to say that i grew up in anchorage and currently live in florida and i am on vacation for a week. i have had the best food since i've been here. iorderedthe smoked salmon artichoke dip....fantastic! we had sparkling wine with pomegranate blueberry juice. the tiramisu for desert was nothing special though. i would say the inside decor needs some updating. they have a moroccan lantern hanging right next to a chandelier, it looks very weird! other than that the service was excellent.

stuck in the last century. orso has great reputation and the food and service is reliably good. my complaint is that i don't think they have changed the menu since they opened. even their specials aren't very special any more. and if you have special dietary needs, forget it. one friend received a gluten full sauce on top of her steakorderedoff the gluten free menu, and don't even try to order vegan.

but if you only go once in a while, and like what you see on the menu, you can be sure of getting a delicious meal.

boring. the first issue i had was that orso felt a little unfriendly to the single diner. i stopped by early in the evening (5:15) and was given a terrible table even though the place was empty. they have this great wine app that looked like it would be a lot of fun to place with, but the waitress hovered over me waiting for me to make a decision on wine. at first i thought it was because i was only ordering wine by the glass, but then i noticed she did it to the other tables as well. she seemed to have a very "olive garden" approach to serving. she was trying to turn the early tables quickly.
iorderedthe wild mushroom ravioli as my entree and it came covered in white button mushrooms and a very bland broth. the food was not bad, it just didn't taste like anything. the dish was really boring. i ended up eating only half, not because i wasn't hungry anymore, but because i was just so board with the dish. i had fully planned at having dessert, but after that meal i just asked for my check, at the delight of my server. i would not go back to orso.

nice splurge dinner. when i used to travel to anchorage for work i'd eat at orso, and every time didn't get what the fuss was about. when we moved up here permanently neither my husband nor i had any intention of going - until our realtor gave us a gift card as a "thanks for your business" gift; can't pass up a free dinner.

i was pleasantly surprised. iorderedthe halibut with scallops and couscous with a caper sauce. the halibut and scallops were perfectly cooked, though the accompanying sauce was a bit too salty. i cannot remember what my husbandordered(he changed his mind at the last minute), but his was good as well.

maybe it was because i went in with such low expectations, but i've moved orso, if not into the favorite category, into the "i'll no longer tell somebody not to eat there" category.

great ambiance. i went there with my boyfriend for a romantic night out, the service was awesome. we did have to wait for a while to get a table but were able to sit at the bar and have drinks during the wait. the food was really good, weordereda bizarre drink and the waitress/bartender was more than willing to accomodate. about $120 for drinks, appetizers, 2 entrees and dessert. i'd pay that much again for the experience.

orso. both food and service keep going downhill, what used to be a great place it is now mediocre. at lunch today only one person was running the entire bar area which made service slow, orderedsalmon and french fries and i got a small plate with the salmon and a large plate with the fries, horrible presentation, will not go back

couldn't believe we'd have to wait over 20 mins on a wednesday night. bottom line- make a reservation. the service was superb! they run a very good kitchen. my only complaint was they burned the bottom of our spinach & artichoke dip, and werent aware of it. but they kept our glasses full & bread on the table. iorderedthe osso buco and it was very tasty. the au jus was delicious! a very large portion! the basalmic chop chop salad was also very good! $100 for two to eat after drinks, apps and tip. worth it compared to a lot of other places in downtown anchorage, that offer rude service and okay food with high prices. i wouldn't take my small children there, but they definitely can accommodate them if needed. we will be back!

try drinks and appetizers. once again, i haven't tried a full-dinner here yet. but the once i tried orso, it was a decent experience.

we sat on the bar side and had no wait for seats, just for a snack and drinks on a week night and had a good time. the ambiance was mellow, the bartender was attentive (even using her iphone to find a recipe for a fellow barpatron), and the alaskan chorizo flatbread weorderedwas really delicious and quite generously sized.

though my drink was a little too sweet (a personal preference), the wine flight my boyfriendorderedwas reasonably price (less expensive than crush!). just sitting on the bar side for drinks and an appetizer was not more expensive than any other place in the city and had a better atmosphere. i'm excited to try orso for dinner, someday.

best deal on king crab dinner. you will not get a better priced king crab dinner anywhere else, its why i go! the last time i went it took way way to long to get our check and i'm not exaggerating here, from the time weordereddesert to the time we got it was 40 minutes...wtf mate right? its like they baked it 20 minutes after weorderedit. my other experiences have been positive, and we were sitting in the bar so maybe this caused us to get "forgotten". i would go here again because i'm happy with the quality of the food but hopefully the service is better next time.

my husband and i went for our anniversary (7/5/10). our waiter was really nice & took the time to suggest dishes that could be prepared quickly, since we were trying to catch a movie after dinner. he even took time to explain how & why they made the hummus the way they do. we bothorderedhalibut-mine grilled, and hubby got cashew-crusted. both were delicious! my polenta was perfect-creamy, cheesy..and the asparagus was so fresh! wow! we didn't have time for dessert, but we will definitely go back again!!

fabulous!! the food is truly an experience. i honestly doubt there is a single bad dish. first time i visited iorderedoff their seasonal/specials meal (pork belly) and was blown away. my second visit had me ordering off the regular menu (crab cakes, lamb oso buco) and it was out of this world. for someone who doesn't like crabcajes - i would order them at orso in a heart beat! i can't wait to eat here again.

great place / outstanding bar / super ribeye. found this restaurant on my last visit up to anchorage, didn't know that it was part of the same company that owns glacier brewhouse. right next to each other, connected by a hallway with a couple of nice gift shops. the bar is outstanding and the food i tried was worth going back for many times. i started with a caprese salad and the tomatoes were very ripe and flavorful, mozzarella was tasty and the basil/olive oil was just right. ended up having the pepper crusted rib eye, orderedmedium rare and it came out perfect. what a great steak and what a great place. i was dining alone and had a great time at the bar people watching and chatting with the bartenders.
