delicious but way too expensive. italian food is not that expensive to make. i had a business lunch with an entree and tea. with a $3 tip it was $25! great food but there are other italian options. they are pricing themselves out of thelubbockmarket.

i don't think i have ever had a bad meal here but a few things keep this place out of my top tier dirt city restaurants. there are usually hoards of people waiting and there really isn't a good place to wait. the little area where you check in always has 5 or 6 employees mulling around or chit chatting. it just looks unprofessional.
last time we went on a sunday and by we i mean me dofrek and sofrek2. it wasn't too busy and no wait which made me happy. they sat us in the room to the right as you go in. i wonder if the hosteses are trained to judge people and sit them accordingly based on how pretty they are or how they dress etc.
i bet money they do and i probably dont get the best sections because i dont dress that great and i am old and uggo.
oh btw i am writting this from a room atlubbockheart hospital post surgery knee replacemrnt. i am drugged up on hydrocodo and morphine. my good friend dos insisted i have nothing better to do than to write a restaurant review. by friend i use the term losely with all due respect. we have only met once irl and he is afraid to give me his cell numbet and let me follow on snap and fb.

i digress. it was sofrek2 birthday. he and dofrek wanted to start things off with the infamous mafia queso and chips orderve.
yes i speak french. i asked the waitress who was young and pretty and very pleasant to please bring early and not with the meal. frektip 645.
dofrek wanted plain cheese pizza on wheat crust and i split it with her. it was a wise choice and very tasty. sofrek2 chose the cheeseburger from paradise which is also a wise choice. did you know it was rated best burger in texas in an issue of texas monthly magazine in 1999 the year my ford f150 was born?
queso was brought out early as requested. bonus pts. now i am going to get a tad bit picky...the chips were way way too salty. even the queso was really salty or maybe it got that way when the grains of salt poured in as we dipped. there was not as much mafia in the queso also. the garlic bread (2 pieces) were finger lickin good. i think the cost was nine bucks which seems high to me. $7 seems better. i am cheap.
dofrek told waitress it was her brothers bd which was sweet and it totally morified him which made it better. thank baby jesus they did not come and sing a stupid song. she brought a small dessert selection for him meaning dofrek to choose from. i think they chose some kind of cheesecake. i dont know they refused to share with daddy. i want to comme.nd orlandos for doing this. very nice.

overall it was a great meal with very good service and i have very little to bitch about.
less than $40 out the door. 4/5. would have been 5/5 if the chips and queso twernt so salty... its the little things.

449am fromlubbockheart hospital on heavy dosages of drugs this is official frekview godbless you and godbless dirt city usa and god bless my new robo knee. shoutout to rva in rehab

terrrible. i've eaten at orlando's a handful of times since i have lived inlubbockand i was always underwhelmed. however, it had been a couple of years since my last visit and i decided to give it another shot because of all of the positive reviews. i got the lunch portion of lasagna because lasagna is a can't miss, or at least that's what i thought. their lasagna is the worst i have ever eaten, including frozen store bought dishes. no flavor, no cheese, just bland pasta and tomato sauce.

i won't make the same mistake again. if i want italian i will go to italian garden. i would even say that fazoli's has better food than orlando's.

awful italian!!. can't believe the positive reviews.. this place was terrible from the moment i walked in. new tolubbockfor orientation week at tt and was suckered by these made up reviews. pizza hut (non-italian) would have been a 5 star compared to this place. overcooked bland pasta smothered with tomatoe paste and undercooked vegetables. awful is all i can say about this place and again don't be fooled by these positive reviews.

best italian in lubbock.... orlandos is alubbocklandmark. dont waste your time at the chain italian restaurants. we had the green chile chicken linquine, and a small pizza. best crust on any pizza ever...honey wheat i think. service was in the bar, and it was the best you could ask for. everyone was friendly and attentive...definitley has that neighborhood feel. we had a problem with a dirty wine glass and trey, the manager, came right over with another glass of wine...on the house. this is what you expect when you go to dinner. prices reasonable...and the beer was cold. dont miss it.

orlando's was the only italian restaurant inlubbockwhen i was a student at tech in the 1980s. and to be honest, my recollection wasn't a very positive one. so it may seem odd that this was our final meal on this visit to lubbock. we hadn't originally planned to go here, but after visiting another mexican place that didn't look very alluring (in fact, it was fast food rather than a sit down restaurant), we both shifted gears and decided italian sounded really good. not only had i remembered orlando's from my past, but i did recall recently reading some very positive reviews on urbanspoon. they've been around since 1965, so they must be doing something right! i probably only went to orlando's 3 times in my 4 1/2 year stint at tech. we had always gone to the 24th and q location, but i believe the south location existed back then t

been coming here for years!. i really like the fact that we have more than "chain italian" offerings in lubbock. truly an original, orlando's pizza and mafia queso are to die for. my personal favorite item is the chicken and broccoli casserole, with their fresh salad and house italian dressing. recently texas monthly touted their burgers as the best in town. that comment, plus the idea of a burger in an italian food restaurant intrigued one of my lunch bunch groups to try it. it was okay, but definitely not the best inlubbockand definitely not worth switching from the great signature italian dishes that orlando's is known for. great place!
