one of our favorites! it is a great place to take people from out of town to get some unique west texas italian food. the green chili chicken linguine is my favorite! my husband loves the uncle louise chicken caldo- atomic. usually prettygoodservice but with any place we have had a few bad apple experiences.

i don't think i have ever had a bad meal here but a few things keep this place out of my top tier dirt city restaurants. there are usually hoards of people waiting and there really isn't agoodplace to wait. the little area where you check in always has 5 or 6 employees mulling around or chit chatting. it just looks unprofessional.
last time we went on a sunday and by we i mean me dofrek and sofrek2. it wasn't too busy and no wait which made me happy. they sat us in the room to the right as you go in. i wonder if the hosteses are trained to judge people and sit them accordingly based on how pretty they are or how they dress etc.
i bet money they do and i probably dont get the best sections because i dont dress that great and i am old and uggo.
oh btw i am writting this from a room at lubbock heart hospital post surgery knee replacemrnt. i am drugged up on hydrocodo and morphine. mygoodfriend dos insisted i have nothing better to do than to write a restaurant review. by friend i use the term losely with all due respect. we have only met once irl and he is afraid to give me his cell numbet and let me follow on snap and fb.

i digress. it was sofrek2 birthday. he and dofrek wanted to start things off with the infamous mafia queso and chips orderve.
yes i speak french. i asked the waitress who was young and pretty and very pleasant to please bring early and not with the meal. frektip 645.
dofrek wanted plain cheese pizza on wheat crust and i split it with her. it was a wise choice and very tasty. sofrek2 chose the cheeseburger from paradise which is also a wise choice. did you know it was rated best burger in texas in an issue of texas monthly magazine in 1999 the year my ford f150 was born?
queso was brought out early as requested. bonus pts. now i am going to get a tad bit picky...the chips were way way too salty. even the queso was really salty or maybe it got that way when the grains of salt poured in as we dipped. there was not as much mafia in the queso also. the garlic bread (2 pieces) were finger lickin good. i think the cost was nine bucks which seems high to me. $7 seems better. i am cheap.
dofrek told waitress it was her brothers bd which was sweet and it totally morified him which made it better. thank baby jesus they did not come and sing a stupid song. she brought a small dessert selection for him meaning dofrek to choose from. i think they chose some kind of cheesecake. i dont know they refused to share with daddy. i want to comme.nd orlandos for doing this. very nice.

overall it was a great meal with verygoodservice and i have very little to bitch about.
less than $40 out the door. 4/5. would have been 5/5 if the chips and queso twernt so salty... its the little things.

449am from lubbock heart hospital on heavy dosages of drugs this is official frekview godbless you and godbless dirt city usa and god bless my new robo knee. shoutout to rva in rehab

substandard sub. yup, orlando's is great and consistent with their pasta dishes, pizzas and salads, i know because i have been coming here since the 70's, but i gotta tell you they do not know how to make a great sandwich or sub. the bread is great on their ham and cheese sub but with only one extremely thin slice of ham and cheese doesn't do it for me. where' the meat people? for $8 for half a sub surely you can spare me at least 3 to 4 slices of triple folded pieces of ham to bulk up this sub to make a reallygoodsandwich. please?

the overall experience was okay. i had their fried mushrooms as an appetizer. crispy exterior and fully cooked in the interior. the taste seemed a bit flat but the ranch dressing helped. i'm not sure what made me get the wisconsin cheddar soup but i did. there's a reallygoodchance i won't get that again. it didn't taste bad but cheese as a soup...not so much of a great idea.

finally, i ordered their lasagna as the main course. it was covered in too much sauce for my taste. the meat had a very one-note taste to it. i will say that the portion was huge. it came with about 4-5 slices of garlic bread but they were chewy. though some breads are meant to be that way, these seemed to have more of the stale quality.

i will go back because there were many other options to choose from and the service was good.

i consider orlando a standby type of restaurant...if i can't think of anything better, we sometimes go there. it's never bad, but there are better italian food restaurants (yes, even in lubbock!). service has always beengood-- jennifer was our server today and she did an excellent job. i do like their honey wheat pizza crust. salads are usuallygoodtoo. you might give their potato green chili soup a try, it's one of my favorite items there.

orlando's has gone down hill some in recent years, it's not asgoodas it was 8 years ago when i moved here. this shows a lot in the dining rooms. the carpets look old and dirty and they don't clean stuff on the walls. the restaurant has a dingy tired feeling that isn't very appetizing. i would recommend sticking to the indiana location, the food is consistantly better at that one. i agree with a lot of reviewers that it's tex-italian so it's not "authentic" but that's okay, it's decent food. the menu is quite large and pretty varied. i would recommend the mafia queso for an appetizer, it's this spicey queso dip with chunks of chile peppers and italian sausage. my husband keeps trying to recreate it and just can't get it right. i enjoy the rigatoni and sausage casserole with mushrooms, it's always hot and delicious. the focacias are amazingly good, and the pizzas are a regular for me. the honey wheat pizza crust is really good; i usually get the chicken pesto with sun dried tomatos. sometimes i'm just in the mood for pasta and i usually get the fettucine alfredo with chicken and broccoli. now, to be fair there have been a few times that haven't been so positive. i've had to send back fettucine more than once because the alfredo sauce had broken and it was greasy and disgusting. another time my husband ordered the down and dirty tortellini and it was hard and inedible. i do agree with another reviewer that their maranara is weird tasting; slightly metallic? i don't order the maranara so that limits some of what i eat. there are plenty of great dishes here and you should give a lot of them a try. oh, and if a dish says spicey next to it, it probably is, so watch out. they will make it as hot as you want it, so be careful if you can't take heat.

an institution. whether you're out celebrating a big win or curling up at home with agoodmovie, orlando's is tasty, reliably fresh italian food with some texan twists.

i hate to paint with such broad strokes but everything i've ever ordered has come out sooooo good. they'll add or leave out any ingredients you choose. their soft drinks are always mixed right. their delivery is fast and consistent.

if they're not franchising, they should be.
