wings are very good ... and i like the fact that they have wing wednesday but the customer service is bad and most of the staff is very rude.. must have family working there for i can not understand how the owner allows staff to continue working there with such bad attitudes. when they first opened staff was rude and i  had stopped patronizing this establishment but i had heard customer service had gotten better which it did for awhile but now it seems as if they're going back to the same rude service. and if you call on wing wednesday i think that they purposely leave you on hold to discourage phone orders..

first of all, this place gets a 10 out of 10. the food bangs. period. you aren't there for smiles and hugs, you are there for the most delicious bbq/soulfood in cleveland or anywhere near cleveland for that matter. did you ever think that maybe the reason they are out of ribs is because that place bangs ribs out all day and all night? they are busy!!! always!! call ahead and order....check your food before u walk out. i promise that mac n chz will take u straight to heaven. the baked beans are the best i've ever had. anyone who complains about this spot should just stick with their mcdonald's and keep on moving.

not as good as expected.. we arrived around 5:30pm and didn't get our food until around 7pm when we arrived there was only two people in front of us. they had served people who came in after us and got there food before we did. they were out of ribs which i don't understand its a bbq joint. so we had to order rib tips which by the way had more bone and fat than actual meat. ordered two rib tip dinners nothing extra and it was a little over $40. insane! the fries were very wet and soggy because they put them in with the meat along with the bread. so if you don't like soggy fries and bread this place isn't for you. the mac and cheese is very off my family and i couldn't stomach it. they also put your napkins inside with the food so now we have wet napkins. rude people taking orders overall very unprofessional.

best and worst of open pit. open pit is truly hood definitely urban with an attitude but the food is off the chain the wings are succulents and the sauce cannot be matchedthey are truly the best in cleveland by the fact that they've lasted 4 years i've lived here 22 years and they've been here nonstop for all those yearsnow they're one of only two bbq restaurant in our city cleveland stamp still standing

good to the last bite. i will drive any distance for their wings with sauce. the attitude is inner city. if you want fake smiles and passive aggression masked as customer service this is not the place for you. if you want the good stuff at a reasonable you have found the right place.

good food /bad customer service...like anywhere else. ppl on here complaining about the wait or the lines. its a bbq /soulfood spot, wth you expect. u want fast service, go to a fast food spot. and i agree with the place having ppl with bad attitudes, but they are no different than the ppl who smile at you while talking crap in a nice way. grow a backbone and demand respect. id rather a person show me who they are rather than pretending to be someone else. this place has been in business for years, so one less customer won't matter. fyi...i am not from the "hood", but it aint nothing in the hood that aint in the suburbs! and if you don't know what soul food is google it. u can't call mcdonalds and ask them to read off their menu can you? smfh at these reviews

service. they are to slow, plus called to place an order and they were out of ribs how can a bar-b-q restaurant be out of ribs. on a one to five rating they get a two.

the best!. i have never had a bad experience at open pit. i frequent this establishment regularly and the people are always nice. i love their chicken wings with or without the sauce. the food is always hot and delicious. it is in a less than desirable area, but the best food usually is :-). don't let someones negative attitude stop you from having the best wings of your life!

prices are ridiculous. wanted a fried pork chop dinner from open pit with corn and rice & gravy with extra gravy on the rice, not on the
side, and they wanted to charge me $2.00 dollars for a spoon of gravy; what's up with that?? they said they
charge by the ounce; they only give you a spoon because the rice is still dry; gravy is only on the top of the
rice, that's why i wanted a extra spoon of gravy on the rice. i know i'm only one customer, and i been going
there for years, but not anymore! ms. helen made it perfectly clear.

was looking forward to this but not now. after reading the reviews of how bad the service is i will not be going to this establishment. too bad that the owner doesn't do something to rectify the bad behavior of his/her employees. two reasons people will go back to a restaurant...(1) the food (2) the way they feel when they are there. i'm from out of state and wanted authentic bbq; i guess i will keep looking!

omg. i love the food but the service is poor. the staff members look and act ghetto! if you are from the hood stay in the hood and eat at open pit but if you are not don't because you will have to wait and see people and things that are very unappealing. good luck open pit!

nina36. my daughter said we have to order from there because the food is really good.i called to ask what the side dishes are and the nasty woman on the phone said "soul food". i said yes but what kind of side dishes do you have and she again said "soul food". i would never give my business to a restaurant that can not give me a straight answer about side dishes and that employs such a rude bitch!
