the food seemed a bit bland and underseasoned. the menu is basic with very few interesting options, especially the desserts.
loved theambiencethough. the service was good too.

overall, the place is mildly overhyped and certainly not worth the money.

its was my fault, i hyped this place up and took my family for a birthday dinner.ambienceis great and its a high end karnataka cuisine restaurant. negative behaviour from the staff, forgot our drinks, got cold food, got no credible food recommendations. left the place without ordering mains. absolute mood spoiler. being a north indian, thought it would be a good experience. felt unwelcomed and cannot recommend this place.

been planning to get to oota for 6 months or more , but finally was able to get to it yesterday. the eagerness to go to oota was doubled also because they won the best/emerging restaurant of then year award recently. the drive to whitefield isn't a joke , but with the kids sleeping in the car , the travel was less harrowing ..... wanted to get a reservation before landing there and multiple tries din't yield any result in getting through to anyone, so had to ping mandaar sukhtankar to help with it, thus giving away the surprise ... there after i kept getting calls reminding me of the booking - found it a little amusing , but in their defence the restaurant was also running full.

theambienceis very pleasant and warm , nothing too fancy , but the bells on the top make for a nice change... since i was with family and not knowing the quantity of food served , i stuck to vegetarian fare ( in hindsight , shouldn't have ). menu is on ipads , so a little fancy , would have been nice to even place orders through them ... we chose sabakki vade ( sabudana vada ) - the dil leaves used it it gave it a nice flavour of its own , suvarna gedde kismuri ( fried yam juliennes ) , mangalore buns for starters , batata gassi for mains along with sannas and neer dosa. the kids has benne dosa .... the sannas were extremely light , so was the neer dosa , personally for me i would have liked to eat it with kori gassi ... for dessert we had elaneer payasa. having been used to eating the one in simply south , this one was much less sweeter and more dense (possibly due to rice flour ) ... all in all it was a very pleasant meal , but i think for me the excitement would lie in their non veg offerings which would need another visit for sure ... cost wise , extremely economical given blr rates i've seen .. i would really like to see a sampler platter with a small serving of their different types of offerings per meat variety ... if travelling with kids, they have a cute reading corner where kids may find some means to kill time ... #thegastronomix

theambienceof this place is exquisite. it's very lavish i must say. food is good, it almost feels like you are having food at home. drinks are also great in taste. but i am not impressed with the portion of drinks they serve for the price they charge considering the drinks they serve are not something unique or not available easily. their service is great, the staff is courteous and always helps with the selection if one gets confused looking at the menu. overall i am happy with them.

absolutely fabulous food . and quirky cocktails . oota is the place to go to for an all karnataka menu . every dish that we ordered was cooked to perfection and the spices in each dish were out of the world . quality ingredients used , fresh vegetables, meat and fish .
valet parking, lovelyambience, well laid out dining space , tastefully decorated in traditional south indian style and great service add up to the fabulous food for a truly 5star rating experience .

i absolutely love this place. the food is great, theambienceis great and the service is impeccable. the waiters are quick to suggest recommendations and helpful to navigate through the fairly complex menu.
the only negatives is that it is slightly overpriced. but the cuisine almost unlike anything you will taste anywhere else.
must try dishes include their pineapple gojju and neer dosas. all of the starters are absolutely delicious. also, for those of you who like a slight spice hit, talk to the waiters about altering your order. the food itself, isn't very spicy.

also i recommend making a reservation a couple of days. it gets quite crowded and they don't usually entertain you without a reservation.

while the menu was very refreshing - i am a kannadiga and i was nostalgic looking at the menu, i had rarely seen these items in restaurants in bangalore - the food was not up to the mark. the ingredients were all right, very traditional and conventional, but the spice balance and the flavour was off. the maddur vade lacked in savouriness, the coconut chutney and the peanut powder (chutney pudi) lacked any punch whatsoever. on the other hand, the yenne badnekayi lit up a  fire in my throat and below the following day as well. i mean, yes it's known for its fieriness, but the dish really made a point of it. the hesarabele kosambri (loosely translatable to moong dal salad) was pretty good. the beer was fresh, but 5 out of 6 of them were more on the bitter side.
a better, but more expensive alternative to highly authentic gourmet south indian food is dakshin by itc. oota, like itc dakshin or like rajdhani, would also be served well by curating a set menu of several well-balanced dishes. this could please all kinds of palates, both those looking for an authentic experience and those looking to explore a new cuisine.
the service and theambiencewere pretty good. no complaints there.

this restaurant is on 7th floor of the building. it has a unique simple and elegantambiencewhere roof is decorated with temple bells. as soon as you get your table they provide complimentary rice papad with couple chutney to munch on while waiting for the food.

khara kadubu which is rice dumplings and filled with lentil and gram flour but i couldn’t taste any of it because of the dominating taste of a asafoetida.
mangalore chicken sukka was not upto the expectation coconut wasn’t grated well there was few big chunk of it was easily seen.
i liked prawn ghee roast, prawns were aromatic, springy, juicy and nicely cooked with masala.
anjal fish fry was loaded with masala crumps and a strong raw flavour of fish was very prominent may be fish wasn’t marinated well in advance.
khara boti is a very simple dish in which only salt and turmeric goes along with a little ghee and it was very mild and juicy dish.
mutton donne biryani was a usual jeera rice mutton biryani.
malpuri was very balanced in sweet not too much or less perfect balance but portion was very tiny.
gadbad ice cream sundae is a nice way to end your meal.

overall food was good in taste but whole experience couldn’t justify to cost.
