one fifty bar & eatery

2 inexperienced, poor young waiters, no matter how well meaning, are not enoughstaffto cope, even on a relatively quiet week night.  the amount of business lost by tables not being able to order more courses, or especially drinks, on the night we visited was pretty depressing really.
i hope it's better on the weekends, or i fear for its survival, and we've had some lovely meals there.

had dinner here a few weeks ago and thestaffwere very friendly and food was amazing. all meals were enjoyed around the table which included the gnocchi and the kingfish. would definitely recommend to others.

never been so disappointed...
i made a face to face booking after having lunch.
we requested to sit out the back, away from the bar.
we had a discussion in which it was suggested, by thestaffthat they could push some tables together to fit a party of nine in the boothed area.
we couldn't have our preferred date as there was a wedding booked for that evening.
which prompted us to tell thestaffthat the booking was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the former restaurant "baguette", (now one fifty ascott bar and eatery) was where we had our wedding reception.
upon arrival we were directed to a table in the middle of the bar area!
it was loud and full of race goers.
which was one of the reasons we particularly asked for a table out the back!
upon questioning why we did not have the tables as discussed, thestaffresponded with "there's no note.... we have a function"...
i questioned why they didn't have a "note", i had stood in the exact spot and spoken to the exactstaffmember i was now talking to(?). 
no apology however, a comment of "we'll let you think about it".
we left!
this was an intimate family dinner to celebrate a very special occasion.
we had two engaged couples who were excited to see the venue as a reception option.
do not expect any further business.
word of mouth will be our campaign.

i made a resavation for dinner on tuesday with a group of friends, thestaffreally nice the food was phenomenal decently worth the money. cocktails where perfect i couldn't fault the southside. definitely worth the travel and i will be back.

the zomato tip says that a good review should cover food, service and ambience... 

unfortunately, i have nothing positive to say about any of these three criteria. 

the food at one fifty was overpriced and almost unpalatable. when i raised my concerns with the food to the waitstaff(i believe in giving people a chance to redeem themselves) i was shrugged off. there was no demonstrable care or concern for my enjoyment. the venue was noisy, crowded and full of drunks. during dinner an inebriated woman knocked a pot plant onto a neighbouring table and then proceeded to tip her drink all over herself. whilst this was amusing, it is the very last thing you want to experience during dinner. we were served by no less than 4 unpersonable waiters, including one who complained to us that all the other waiters were terrible. save yourself the time and money. don't go here. i miss baguette.
