one fifty bar & eatery

2 inexperienced, poor young waiters, no matter how well meaning, are not enough staff to cope, even on a relatively quiet week night.  the amount of business lost by tables not being able to order more courses, or especially drinks, on the night we visited was pretty depressing really.
i hope it's better on the weekends, or i fear for its survival, and we've had some lovely meals there.

beautiful three course meal (perfectly cooked lamb and duck - we were very impressed - and excellent flavour and texture combinations in the creme brulee and poached pear desserts) and extremely attentive, personal and friendly service from tom. also, the architecture and artwork is very well executed. we will definitely be back.

had dinner here a few weeks ago and the staff were very friendly and food was amazing. all meals were enjoyed around the table which included the gnocchi and the kingfish. would definitely recommend to others.

had the eatclub promo dinner here last night. the venue was beautifully done up with contemporary lay-out and cozy vibe. service is attentive.
we ordered shared dishes as tapas style. shoe strings chips came with generous portion. charcuterie broad was composed of pork terrine, prosciutto, salami, sausage, olive, pickles and sourdoughs. the cute meats are all in good quality. sauce is the crying tiger is fantastic. chef choose a very characteristic fish sauce that delivers a strong sense of asian taste and the wagyu beef is thick and tendered. hero should be the chicken liver parfait. it is so silky. together with the sweetness from marmalade and the crunchiness from the crostini. it definitely is the essential factor for my return reason.

never been so disappointed...
i made a face to face booking after having lunch.
we requested to sit out the back, away from the bar.
we had a discussion in which it was suggested, by the staff that they could push some tables together to fit a party of nine in the boothed area.
we couldn't have our preferred date as there was a wedding booked for that evening.
which prompted us to tell the staff that the booking was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the former restaurant "baguette", (now one fifty ascott bar and eatery) was where we had our wedding reception.
upon arrival we were directed to a table in the middle of the bar area!
it was loud and full of race goers.
which was one of the reasons we particularly asked for a table out the back!
upon questioning why we did not have the tables as discussed, the staff responded with "there's no note.... we have a function"...
i questioned why they didn't have a "note", i had stood in the exact spot and spoken to the exact staff member i was now talking to(?). 
no apology however, a comment of "we'll let you think about it".
we left!
this was an intimate family dinner to celebrate a very special occasion.
we had two engaged couples who were excited to see the venue as a reception option.
do not expect any further business.
word of mouth will be our campaign.

will take something special to get the hammer back here after getting told last drinks at about 10.30 on a friday night with a decent crowd and turning groups away at the door - hope the owner is aware of what’s going on
needs to lift their game if racecourse rd is gonna reclaim any ground as a destination

with plenty of competition locally, one fifty differentiates with attentive, knowledgeable service, refined ambience, great seasonal food and excellent wine list.
the menu is geared more to small plates than mains. the daily specials are hard to pass up.lamb rump was awesome.

saturday night - the rain had stopped, and the bar at one fifty ascot was packed with well-dressed punters ready to celebrate the night away. once housing for a brisbane culinary institution, this former baguette location has been injected with new energy, and the space feels open and stylish but with a relaxed vibe.

smashing lunch here on the weekend. i’ve thought that racecourse road has become the forgotten food precinct in brisbane as have not been there or heard about anything much happening here for what seems ages. decided to come and scope it out and then chose one fifty purely based on it looking the ‘smartest’. food was spot on and in that frenchy, modern australian ilk but it was the service that left us feeling like we can’t wait to be back!

a perfect lunch with delicious food, great service and lovely decor. i really like the changes that have been made to what was previously baguette’s. the decor is fresh and modern and the food is likewise. the fettuccine marinara was delicious and perfectly seasoned. the asparagus with a 60 degree duck egg and parmesan crumb was a perfect side dish. i wish i’d had time to stay for dessert and hope to return again soon.

i’ve been meaning to come here for a while and i finally got a chance. the fit out and decore are beautiful. a clean and modern space with a great vibe. this is exactly what ascot needed. i got the arancini and sliders as a starter. the arancini was fantastic. my main was the scallop and ricotta gnocchi dumplings. the scallops were cooked to perfection, they had a golden crust and a nice sweetness which was complemented by the gnocchi, parmesan and sage. the service was attentive. will be returning for dinner!

decided to give this place a try as i hadn't been since the refurb. was blown away by the decor! such a great design and atmosphere. the customer service was welcoming and consistent throughout the evening and the waiter left us smiling every time he came to the table. lots of great choices on the menu making it hard to decide but ended up settling on the lamb rump. very impressed with the chefs effort as the rump was delicious.
great choices for wine and the waiter that took our drinks order was very accommodating and knowledgeable on the list. 
superb service, excellent food and tasty wines.
this place is the gem of ascot.

i made a resavation for dinner on tuesday with a group of friends, the staff really nice the food was phenomenal decently worth the money. cocktails where perfect i couldn't fault the southside. definitely worth the travel and i will be back.

great wine listing and food is great for nibbles. could improve on their customer service as the establishment has great potential with its offerings and location.

really enjoyed the veal cutlet, would gladly order it again. my partner ordered the steak but it looked more like a steak big breakfast with wilted spinach, mushrooms and the smallest peice of bacon on top. the plus side was the steak was cooked to liking. the restaurant was busy and we made a late booking so weren't expecting anything to arrive in a timely fashion. the veal cutlet was really their saving grace.
