ojeda's

this money-grabbing restaurant chain now charges $1.50 for 3 tortillas.  they have become an official money grubber.  they are trying to squeeze every cent they can out of their customers ... the food quality and service now reflects this attitude ... indeed this used to be a really great restaurant ... no more.   avoid ojeda's.  don't reward this attitude.  thanks

a futile argument. i think it's actually a good thing when ojeda's gets a bad review, like a couple in here, because it helps keep the types who pooh-pooh ground beef, hard taco shells, and thin, runny, red, and hot salsa out of our way. go, please, and find the "genuine" or "authentic" or "fresh" mexican fare you like, and warn others like yourselves not to darken the doors at ojedas. good riddance.
brenda complains about the salsa at ojedas, insisting its loaded w/vinegar so it won't go rancid at the table. did she have the stuff analyzed? the closest to ojedas in a canned salsa i can find here in los angeles the damned) is el pato (about $.50 for a 7&3/4 oz can) "jalapeno salsa". contains tomato puree, water, chiles, onions, garlic, salt and spices. no vinegar. a very popular brand, tapatio: water, red peppers, salt, garlic, acetic acid, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate. no vinegar. perhaps brenda is confusing salsa from mexico with hot sauce from louisiana, where they all have vinegar. another reviewer complains about the chips, and the hard taco shells, being like tostitos. (he uses the phrase "re-fried tortillas" huh?) the taco shells at ojedas are so thin and delicate they defy you to pick them up. i think most people just use a fork. the chips are equally delicate. as for complaints about the ground beef: i have never seen gb this savory (moist) with zero greasiness. if you don't like gb, don't order it. go get yourself some shredded fish concoction, with soft tortillas and chunks of raw tomato, onion and cilantro "salsa".

this is a family owned restaurant, now operated by the grandchildren of the founders. fresh chips arrive immediately and the salsa, they bring, is on the hot side, but you can ask for the mild. the fajitas are delicious, as are the sour cream chicken enchiladas. full bar with pretty strong margaritas, try the lime. this was one of president clinton's favorite places, when he visited dallas.

family owned and operated restaurant serving tex-mex. don't fill up on the complimentary tortilla chips and spicy salsa as you'll want to reserve your appetite. we shared an appetiser of chile con queso, beef mince nachos and chicken enchilada. although relatively quiet during the lunchtime we went, the place had a nice atmosphere and the food was tasty.

very small seafood and veggie options. salsa is tangy and spicy, i liked it. i got the fish tacos which were delicious. they have a super comprehensive menu, but just little seafood options.
nice atmosphere.

not what it use to be.. i haven't been to ojeda's in a long time, so i decided to go to lunch there today and was very disappointed. i ordered a lunch special: one bean chalupa, one con queso tostada, one guacamole tostada.

the tostada's were a hard corn tortilla with cheese wiz on it, and another hard corn tortilla with a small scoop of guacamole, and the chalupa was a hard corn tortilla with lettuce, 3 tiny pieces of tomato and a smear of beans. it wouldn't fill a 5 year old. it was actually worse than taco bell. next time i will go to taco bell...it's cheaper and tastes better.

very disappointed to say the least.

um, no.. the service, for the sunday i went, was pretty good being there were huge crowds. i've heard a lot of good things about this place but i was very disappointed with it afterwards. glad i wasn't paying.

first off, the service is the best. no complaints and the wait staff actually have manners. the food was or is a huge let down. salsa and chips. chips were old and cold, and salsa tasted like hot catsup. it was just unusually sweet. waiting on my food to arrive, because the were busy, i ordered the coronarita. hmm that was another disappointment because the margarita tasted like it had splenda or other artificial sweetener in. i don't like splenda at all and i can tell when something has it. the corona reacted with the bottle cap as well.

one of the things i order at a new tex/mex place are fajitas. you really can not screw up fajitas its just meat and seasoning. well my fajitas came and they looked nice and had the sizzle but i felt the chicken had no flavor. beef was pretty good. tortillas, white corn, tasted like mission brand or full of preservatives. it's something i can get over.

overall the food here is below average and some of the menu items made no sense, for instance a breakfast taco, single, for over $3. maybe it's me but i usually pay a buck and a half at the most.

i won't be coming here again, parking is tight by the way and limited for handicap. again the service is very good.
