o'galito

we decided to try out o'galito restaurant for a sunday lunch! when walking in one can hear the buzzing of the restaurant, one that usually accompanies a busy and well of restaurant.
the decor fits that description, it doesn't tick all the boxes when it comes to being the most modern restaurant, however it has a fair blend of older styling trends mixed with your more modern trends, it's a fine balance.

let's get to the food!
for starters the dish i opted for was the beef trinchado, this was one of my better choices, the cube fillets are served in a slightly thick and creams sauce that tastes of wine and garlic, neither too overpowering, just right.

moving on to mains i went with the chicken peri-peri dish, it's fair to say i've made better decisions before, the chicken was not all that bad however it does stray from what one expects when ordering chicken peri peri, the taste had hints of sweetness, which in my opinion was it's only downfall.

for dessert i had the deep fried ice cream, it is simply that, deep fried ice cream. it was a fairly good dish but not one i would find myself dreaming of a week later.

all in all the restaurant is good, in terms of location it's inside the centurion shopping mall which is undergoing renovations, other than that sore eye the location is good. the food is good. the vibe is good too. 👌🏼

we had a lovely lunch here after a shopping session. my friends tried their specials, one of the burger and craft beer specials and one of the seafood plate specials. my friend had a huge plate of food for such a reasonable price. both enjoyed their meals. i tried the vegetarian open sandwich. i didn't love it but it was pretty good and a generous portion. it seems they focus on seafood but i would have loved it if there were one or two more interesting vegetarian options that aren't a salad or a sandwich.

we were a table of 10 that went there. at first the service was slow and we waited over an hour for our food. we started complaining and the manager (her name pretty) was great, she sorted out the orders. was not long and the food came. the kitchen "forgot" about 3's food and they waited another 10 min. pretty made up for all of the waiting by giving us free coffees and deserts and see took over our table. if it was not for her we would never go back ...now we will. the food was great. thanks pretty

this is good sushi, it's not wow but it would pass the minimum for good. we came here on friend's recommendation but we're cautious. so we are here during their sushi special - 50% off 2-5pm everyday. the portions are small but tasty. i'd give them a 3.5 if it was full price, 4 for the half price value.

your waiters were just soooo negative and treated us like we are nothing.... the bread was hard, the wine glasses they gave us were dirty... the steak was sooooo raw. like i'm shocked... never again .... are your waiters on strike or something?? this is disgusting service! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

had been here for 1st time to try sushi. and it went good. ambience is good.sushi is awesome. they have their specials everyday during the lunch time. loved the place. would visit again soon.

every month we take turns to celebrate monthavarsary and tonight for our one and a half year monthavarsary my husband took me to where we had our first date 6 years ago. the service is excellent, the ambience at night is very romantic and the food is delicious. the chicken breats are very spicey, loved the basting and the cherry jubilee took my breath away (the rum literally did) great value for money!

veg sushi was nice,service was actually okay the waitrons are dull but tolerable. i’ve been at the restaurant so many times.my cousin enjoyed her dish very much and it was her first time at the restaurant as she’s on holiday from cape town.we ordered a strawberry gin and tonic jug that had so much ice in which is in a way deceitful,because it was watered down way to much.hope all these issues can be resolved.

this is still one of my favourite places in centurion. if you want amazing service and quality, then this is the place. the lunch special that i had, steak and calamari, was fairly priced at r74. for that price, i cant see why anyone would go to spur (yet sadly i know so many people who would).

im not a fan of surf and turf in a restaurant, but this is one of the very few places that can pull off two meals to excellent quality on the same plate. the calamari was cooked to absolute perfection, unlike the rubbery crap that most places serve. sirloin was exactly medium rare and i was fairly pleased that the waiter could identify the cut of meat (something rare in sa).

since it was after 12, i figured a caipirinha wont hurt.

had an amazing lunch here. food portions quite big though. friendly staff, amazing service, wide range to choose from, great atmosphere. cocktail menu is amazing

we went to o'galito's today for lunch for the first time in almost a year. i was extremely dissapointed in how this restaurant has gone backwards!!!!! firstly the table were extremely dirty and the "plastic inlays" on the table was all torn. the grooves around the inlays were filled with dust and pieces of old food!!!! then came the menu's!!!! what a absolute disgrace!! all the menu's were dirty and torn. after ordering our food we had to wait 90 minutes for our food and then were told that they forgot to defrost the kingklip that morning. after speaking to the "manager" we finally got our food and then got some small dessert (dom pedro's with no whisky or vanilla milkshakes, i am not sure what it was supposed to be) on the house. but......... unfortunately by then the damage was done already. i actually cannot believe that no covid protocalls were followed and that the restaurant and it's menu's, table and chairs are so thilthy!!!

i had the lamb shank that was served with mash... it was done to perfection and accompanied by courteous service that was enhanced by a hands on manager... ☺ very good overall service with a lovely ambience to go with the delightful meal... 🍻

the staff was sweet and accommodating but there was one waiter who we’d order from and he’d completely forget that we did. the g&t cocktails are also memorable, really good! will definitely go back cause the food is so delish!

what a stunning restaurant. the scenery inside this place was amazing, we completely forgot we were in doors.

the food is affordable and so are the drinks. they have countless specials suited for different people.

i would defos return for the food, decor, service and drinks.

i really like this o'galito. the decorations make for an interesting vibe and the service is superb and very quick, even during the lunch hour rush. i thoroughly enjoyed my hair and prawns, expecially as the prawns had a unique sauce; very different from the usual lemon butter sauce!
