a refreshing take on italian cuisine. most people are conditioned into thinking that if they don't get an enormous portion that they are being cheated. if you're looking to gorge yourself then go to chili's. if you want to go to a restaurant that offers an exceptional experience for your pallet, then give nonna a whirl. yes, it's pricey, probably about $100-$200 for dinner for two if you go all out. however, you pay for what you get. i've eaten there three times and each time the food has been exceptional. the ingredients are almost entirely locally sourced, and the menu changes on a weekly basis. the food is the chef's own modern take on italian cuisine, so don't expect traditional italian dishes. the last time i was there i had deep fried risotto balls followed by scallops sauteed with whitewineand covered with bits of pancetta. it was the best scallop dish i've had in my entire life. the servers can be a bit on the arrogant side, but this is nothing new for a high end dallas restaurant. all in all this is an exceptional restaurant with a chef who refreshingly thinks outside the box.
