nola used to be a mandatory stop, but no more. the place is coasting on a reputation it no longer earns. gumbo was way too salty, entrees were nothing special. service was chaotic, long waits between courses and orders mixed up. other customers were drunk, taking their shirts off, and management did nothing. strictly for amateurs. for a far superior alternative try gw fins. really a low point of our trip.

you can't go to new orleans and not eat at one of emeril's many restaurants. we decide to try nola located in the french quarter. it's a 3 story building so we needed to take an elevator to get to our table on th

oh yeah. duck confit/fried egg pizza for appetizer, and the garlic crusted drum fish with a side of the house garlic grits were amazing. finished off with the chocolate crème caramel and an espresso. wow! i did also enjoy the butterscotch martini ahead of time. service was impeccible, as were our seats at the chef's food bar (in front of the nice warm brick oven on this cool wet evening).

wonderful experience at nola. i hate to add a kudos amongst several others, but nola is as good as the reviews indicate. i recently ate here after the saints parade and had a great time. the service was impeccable and continued even after the check was dropped as we waited for traffic to die down. we spent hours at nola and had an enjoyable time during every moment. i highly recommend nola and hope to visit again soon.

delightful. had a great lunch here! sat at the wood stove station and got to chat to the chef while being fed little tidbits along the way, between courses, such as their house-cured pork belly and the like.

great service and staff. the food was bursting with flavor and never dull. four of us ordered all different dishes and passed around. loved the stuffed chicken wings, which are really like an asian-style pot sticker somehow stuffed into a chicken wing and served with a delicious dipping sauce. shrimp and grits were smoky and spicy. if i had a knock on the place, its that the portion size was a touch too big. if you like that sort of thing, lucky you, but i wished a had a bit of room at the end of the main to try dessert. had a drink instead. oh well!

would definitely go back!

starting 2010 right!. i started the new year with dinner at nola. i was very impressed with the service, environment, and food. our reservations were easily met and we were escorted to the 3rd floor dining area in the glass elevator. the dining experience was amazing and the food was unbelievable. i would highly recommend nola and plan on another trip soon.

best of new orleans. the service is stellar. food is fresh, tasty, and always a work of art. portions just right, and always balanced with a diverse palate of flavors.

i have been hanging out in the quarter for years, and tend to be impossible to impress. nola does it every time.

i am usually in the quarter for the christmas season, and their version of the reveillon menu is stellar. they do a fixed menu throughout the year, and base it off of what is fresh at the market. spot on!

i often see chefs from other restaurants in the quarter hanging out eating here. that speaks volumes, in and of itself.

a hipper emeril. this is emeril's less formal restaurant, by comparison to his other restaurants. it is my least favorite of his line, but don't misunderstand that statement - i still rate it a 4.5 / 5 stars, i just went with an expectation of a more formal restaurant based on my visits to his other places. (in other words, i dressed for dinner, and really didn't have to. that'll teach me.) but that said, let me say that i had an amazing meal here. we did the taste of nola menu, which was 4 courses paired with wine. this menu was filled with some of emeril's more creative dishes, and seemed to lean towards pairing flavors that seem simple, but work extraordinarily well together. this ran about $ 80.00 per person and was a value for the meal we enjoyed, which makes this emeril's a little more competitive for fine dining in new orleans. atmosphere and service were excellent. we sat upstairs, that felt a little sleeker. i think i would have preferred the main dining room, but in the end, it really didn't matter and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. we parked over by jax brewery and walked to nola, so i am unsure of the parking here - you might want to call and ask in advance. i highly suggest this emeril's to anyone who likes fine dining with hipper, easier surroundings.

try the redfish!. i really enjoyed the garlic crusted texas redfish! the restaurant was really loud and it took forever to get our meals, but overall it was a good experience.

wearing my cap proudly. we couldn't get a regular reservation seated at a table so we opted for the next best thing. that is we sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen. i think sometimes i enjoy these seats more than a table seat because you get a lesson in cooking with your reservation. the meal was outstanding in a bustling atmosphere. just what we expected from emerel's establishment. and, recently, "mr. bam" signed my nola cap at a book signing for his new grilling book. the food, the experience, the cap and the chef's gracious signature make this one of our favorite new orleans restaurants.

amazing. i was initially skeptical of going to an "emeril" restaurant but i must say that i was very pleased with this one. the atmosphere was wonderful and the wait staff was very attentive. the food itself was fantastic; i had the duck and it was cooked to perfection. make sure you save room for desert - the sweet potato ice-cream was to die for.

i didn't realize this was an emeril restaurant when i went but bam - that guy knows food! started with a watermelon martini followed by the duck confit & arugula pizza. served with a fried egg on top this salty, rich tasth pizza was a delight. i completed this late evening dinner with the chocolate bourbon pecan pie served with sweet potato ice cream. there are not words to describe this ice cream. it was otherworldly! i sat at the bar since i was dining by myself and got great service and conversation!
