nola restaurant

simply fantastic. the service was excellent. the cocktails were creative and very good. the food.. i still think about theshrimpand grits that i had over 18 months ago. i'm itching to go back. great execution makes this a 5 rating.

we were excited to visit nola. it was solid but i was a little disappointed. staff was excellent and was always right there without being intrusive. bread was incredibly good. we ordered the stuffed chicken wings as an appetizer based on reviews and they were very good. i ordered the fried chicken and my wife had theshrimpand grits. she raved about theshrimpand grits and commented that they were perfectly spicy and the grits were great. my fried chicken left me a bit disappointed. it tasted good. it just wasn't that good. the skin was falling off of it and it really didn't look like the pictures i had seen posted (nor the one on a table i spied through the window as we walked by last night). the mac and cheese that was served with it wasn't as hot as it should have been and was i kind of bland. i just had hoped for more. it wasn't bad but i was left wishing i had ordered something else.

just had great meal here. server lance was hip and irreverent and funny while meeting every need. gave great advice on menu choices. those of us who orderedshrimpand grits were thrilled. one with duck was ecstatic. one with fried chicken was underwhelmed. awesome vibe, fun location, good bourbon. would go back in a heartbeat.

being in emeril’s restaurant, i had to try a trademark dish such as bbq shrimp. we asked the waiter to bring out the appetizer with our main entrees because we didn’t want anything staggered (and hence, waiting around). the bbqshrimpwas alright, but not as savory as mr. b’s bistro.

nola restaurant'sshrimp& grits comes with sauteed gulf shrimp, grilled green onions, smoked cheddar grits, apple smoked bacon, crimini mushrooms and red chili-abita butter sauce. the grits were nice and creamy as they should be, and i really enjoyed the size and flavor of the shrimp. the red chili-abita butter sauce added some heat to it and ...who doesn't love big chunks of apple smoked bacon?

ate here 4 years ago and still talk about it! get the pork sandwhich. it is the best. we got the bisque and it was fantastic. the wings appetizer was not worth eating and neither was theshrimpand grits and neither was the cornbread

wonderful food. my mother didn't like some of her choices but my father and i enjoyed everything. escargot,shrimpand grits, pork shank, and all ice creams were wonderful. the service was the most attentive i've seen in awhile. glasses were refilled by the time they hit half a glass. waiters were kind and knowledgeable about menu choices and options.

so bad i need therapy.... most depressing meal i have had in a while. service bad. bread bad.shrimpdecent. escargot bad. wine decent but didn't help dull the pain this meal inflicted. and the coup de grâce...the filet...over cooked, pulled apart like a pot roast, and i couldn't taste anything but hickory bacon.

also when your customers don't eat most of the meal, you would think that would be a red flag to a server or manager but nope...evidently they are used to it.

so unless you're a glutton for punishment, i would not recommend this overpriced stop.

also someone needs to tell the waiters to stop yelling "bam" when they bring you something. its unnerving.

very large place. despite the efforts of the very polite staff the "food factory" feeling is inescapable here. had escargots and duck liver apps and "signature"shrimpand grits. all were tasty, competent preparations but nothing particularly dazzling.

best food in town. consistent and i always have a great time there. go for a bunch of apps. wings are rockin, bbqshrimpare the best i have ever had and the escargot are out of this world.

hit and miss.shrimpappetizer was great. pork belly was bland. gumbo was too cold. pork chop was great along withshrimpand grits. pork shank and fried drum were just plain bland. service was slow and almost random. will not go back.

amazing food and service. it was difficult to get a reservation to nola on the same day, but we were given a choice between 6pm and 9:15pm, and chose 6pm.

i liked that this restaurant has a somewhat upscale decor, but with a casual feel to it. and the staff is uber-professional, courteous and helpful. when i informed my waiter that we don't eat pork, he was great about helping us find selections that didn't contain ham, or bacon, and weren't cooked in bacon grease (some items did, but didn't say so on the menu), and didn't harass us at all by asking us *why* we don't eat it.

they first brought out a roll and a cornbread biscuit for both of us, and a covered container with nicely whipped and spreadable butter.. mmmm... the roll was great, but the cornbread was just okay.

my husband ordered theshrimpand grits (which comes with bacon normally, but they omitted it for him), and he absolutely loved it. i had the fried chicken (without the ham gravy) and was amazed at how light and tender it was.. it just melted in my mouth. it was perfect.

if i wasn't so full from eating so much great new orleans food all day, i would have had dessert, too. and the dessert menu was very ample and tempting.. next time!

one more thing--when i asked where the bathroom was, my waiter extended his elbow and offered to escort me there. i was startled by this unexpected courtesy and told him that i would just follow him there, but that i thought he was being very chivalrous. he told me that this is what they do in the south. i thought that was very sweet.

the second dish was the andouille sausage andshrimpgumbo and it was simply outstanding. rich in flavor and perfect texture, it was arguably the best gumbo i’ve ever had.

very good, but hoped for a little more. grade: b+

at least once, we had to try one of emeril's restaurants. nola was pleasantly decorated with an appealing atmosphere. the service was good but not exceptional (our waiter was a bit young), but not to the detriment of the experience.

here's the problem, but it's probably only mine. i ordered theshrimp& grits. as a northerner, i still have yet to "get" grits, and periodically do a fact check and try them again to see if the switch clicks on. since it was emeril's direction that stated how this southern classic should be prepared, i thought that if i were ever going to get it, it'd be here. it was good--don't get me wrong--as good as it could be for grits, i guess. it's just that the switch didn't completely click upward.

still everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals, and knowing how much emeril looked after his employees after katrina, i'm glad we had the chance to patronize the restaurant. give it a try.

this place was very disappointing. the service was slow and unattentive. the food was sub-par for sure and then when you consider the cost it was unacceptable. i had theshrimpand grits and theshrimptasted like sea water. one member of our party became ill that night after getting the chicken dish. would not go back.
