being the maryland native that i am, there is nothing that makes me happier in the summer thancrabfeasts, crabcakes, crabpretzels, old bay seasoning, and of course, cheesycrabdip with a steaming hot baguette to scoop it up. of all the aforementionedcrabdishes, this one is by far the worst for you…

baltimore is known for outdoor dining, steamed old bay crabs, and sitting by the water.  at nick’s, you can do all three.  i joined one of my besties and her parents for her birthday and a table full of crabs. these were a combo of larges and mediums.  all steamed up and then covered in spicy old bay.  these guys were perfectly done and had a ton of sweat, juicycrabmeat.  i somehow managed not to nick my fingers on their sharp edges; good thing since that old bay stings.  i like that they don’t have a heavy season on the meat, so you can taste the crab.  i dunked it in the old bay crumbs with a  little vinegar or butter; we had both.

awesome!!!! we promised our daughter in law soft shell crabs. we arrived at nick's at 11am. our server said that they did not have them but made some other suggestions. we all placed our orders. to our delight, our service came back a few minutes later to tell us they just received a shipment of the soft shell crabs. our daughter in law was so happy. she ordered a 1/2 doz. of the large soft shell crabs. she said they were the best she has ever had! my husband had thecrabcake dinner and i had the fresh salmon sandwich with sweet potato fries. our server was superior! thank you for a wonderful meal. we will be back!!!!!

there's one reason i go to nick's. it's a cool deck on the water and they have "live" music on weekends. oh, they do have food but it's not the reason to go. but if you do go, theircrabpretzel is large and decent. thecrabsoups are good. they are acrabhouse, but if i want to crackem i go elsewhere. it's a friday/saturday summer deck with "live" music with buckets of beer. it's all about the atmosphere.

we found thiscrabcake to be simply amazing! thecrabtastes super sweet and is very, very tasty. there isn't much spice at all, but withcrabmeat this good, you won't need it or miss it (although a tiny bit more would make it that much better). aside from the crab, the only other thing you taste is the breading, which still remains as a background flavor. we highly recommend thiscrabcake!

worst service ever. the worst service, seriously. ignoring that, the food was delicious. everyone at our table of 6 enjoyed their food. the crabcake was fresh and delicious. thecrabpretzel appetizer is really yummy and is big enough to share. great location on the water.

great lunch!. i take a client to nick's a couple of times a year (his choice) and have loved everything i've tried there. we could go to any restaurant near downtown baltimore and he always suggests nick's and i love it. the crabcakes are excellent and i always get the marylandcrabsoup. they have made a few upgrades to the place and it looks better everytime i go there, but the food is consistantly good.

disappointed at nick's fish house!. we went there for dinner on sunday for the first time. looking forward to seafood platters. well they should have been called seafood sampler's. not only did the "platter" not include oysters, clams or mussels, the portion sizes were pitiful! it consisted of a tinycrabcake, a thin piece of flounder and several shrimp. also, the price was outrageous, $26.95! a platter is supposed to be filling but we felt hungry on the way home. we will not be back.

good food. we hadcrabcakes and salmon cakes, and both were excellent. to sit on the patio though you had to pay $3 extra. if you check in on 4 square, you can get a free glass of wine.
