edit 07/06/2017 i still go to n'goc van regularly, and had lunch there 2 days ago. still fabulous!
had lunch at n'gpocthe best little pho house in regina!. n'goc van is my favourite because it offers the tastiest comfort food consistently at a reasonable price. they offer a wide variety of traditional soups from the different regions of vietnam and surrounding countries as well as the usual vermicelli bowls and entrees. soup specials weekday lunchtime are $6.45 and regular sized bowls are $7 - $9 with the most expensive entrees like lemon chicken only being $12. it's been a while since prices have gone up so i bet they'll move 50 cents or so within the year. sometimes it's packed so if i think it's going to be busy i'll go just before or after the rush. they started off years ago in another location half a block west selling bahn mi, (vietnamese submarines), and about 4 or 5 entrees with one table and three chairs. now they feature about 10 different kinds of subs, (personal favourites are combination andbeefsate). bahn mi is a legacy of the french occupation of vietnam featuring cold cuts, pate, cucumber, shredded carrot and cilantro on a small baguette. they are nearly the perfect take out food! in short, i have too little time to say all the good things i'd like to about n'goc van and the wonderful people who run it.
