i only get one thing here, and it's great every time - the torpedo. it's a combination of things in a sandwich that i don't normally like - bologna, salami, & slaw - but i love them on this sandwich. even though it's their "smaller sub" it's still huge and quite filling. i think their slaw is some of the best around and the sandwich just has awesome flavor. the ingredients taste great, the place always seems to be busy, they have all the classics - this is the epitome of adeliexperience for me. i highly recommend the new yorker for anyone in the area.

what can i do in richmond. i grew up in bedford va. and ate at thisdeliall my life. it is so good i cant find a way to get a sub sent here. one weekend i drove three hours to get a sub but obviously if you'll do that you got to love it! will anybody send me one here in richmond if i pay for it? what overnight in dry ice or greyhound? thanks and if youve never been to the new yorker you will love it!

i was in your area last thursday, and my friend highly recommended your deli, and so, on her recommendation, we went there for a take-out lunch.  i asked the man, behind yourdelicounter, if you made reuben's and he promptly told me "yes!"  i never thought to check the sandwich until i went to eat it, and i must say that it was not a reuben...there was no 1000 island dressing and no sauerkraut on the meat/sandwich.  i would have chosen some other sandwich if the man had simply told me that 'you' do not make reubens.  also my friend and i added potato salad to our orders, and most of the potatoe salad went into the trash...simply no flavor.  arby's makes a much better reuben...and it costs less!

a little bit of the big apple. the new yorkerdeliand restaurant is the perfect place for family, friends or just going solo!! the food is priced reasonably priced and the options are almost limitless. i have been eating here for over 20 years. each time is chance to try something new. i eat mostly lunch on my trip to sam's club each month. getting there at 11am is perfect for at 12pm the place begins to fill up very quickly! i highly just know you will love the new yorker as much as i do!!

best sub in va. everytthing at the new yorker is fantastic!!!
the sub-with slaw is the best sub ever!
add on the side (if you're starving) a side of their baked beans and it's a true roanoke original meal!!!
they use to give you a third sub free if you could eat two and when i lived in roanoke we would frequent thisdeliweekly-both of my brohers did this!
they have mixed drinks too and a great new yorkdelicomplete with cheesecake! so you can take some goodies home!
but don't forget the cash-that's all they take!
don't miss it-easy on & off i-81 at the us460 exit!!!
a stop you will make again and again!!!

classicdeliin rva. i no longer live in the roanoke area, but every time i visit, the first food stop on the way home is the new yorker deli. it's nostalgic, because we ate there a lot when i was a kid -- my dad loved their huge portions for the great price. my mom, a former yankee from ct, loved the deli-style sandwiches she ate as a kid. my brother, a picky eater, could get his plain hotdog. it was the first time i ever had a brown's cream soda! we all were in heaven! it's a shabby place, a bit chaotic when busy, but well worth the trip for a classic submarine, delicatessen-style. love these old places!

still the one after all these years! don't know how anyone could suggest quizno's or subway as a superior alternative. come on! they are not perfect (no credit cards) but they are the closest thing to perfectdeliin sw va!

terrible. it's a bit embarrassing to see this terrible place ranked # 2 in roanoke on urbanspoon. twenty years ago the place was an awesome/can't miss spot for lunch and even dinner if a giant ny styledelisandwich was your thing...but hasn't been even a shadow of it's former self for many years. ny deli? are you kidding me?

it's not even the best sandwich place on williamson road. try a macado's or even subway or quizno for a much better sandwich.

our first stop. whenever our son visits from la, our first stop is the new yorkerdelifor a fantastic foot long sub and a side of baked beans and franks. certainly some of the best food in roanoke and maybe from coast to coast... dave

best sandwiches around!. lemme start by saying: i've enjoyed a lot of reubens in my day, so i can be considered something of a reuben expert. my sandwich from the new yorkerdeliwas cooked to perfection! i would strongly recommend this sandwich to any potential eaters.
