great service nice people. one of the best rubens ever had in roanoke. and it took very little time for them to bring it out.

worst dining experience i years. waitress was snippy and borderline rude. food was marginal. pricing okay but they do not take credit cards or checks. i'll never go back. i ate there many years ago and it was great then. it stinks now.

i only get one thing here, and it's great every time - the torpedo. it's a combination of things in a sandwich that i don't normally like - bologna, salami, & slaw - but i love them on this sandwich. even though it's their "smaller sub" it's still huge and quite filling. i think their slaw is some of the best around and the sandwich just has awesome flavor. the ingredients taste great, the place always seems to be busy, they have all the classics - this is the epitome of a deli experience for me. i highly recommend the new yorker for anyone in the area.

are you kidding!. a month ago i brought a celebrity and a few close friends in to get some of that wonderful looking roast beef they display in the display case. to our amazement, we were served overly cooked and burnt roast beef sandwiches. the roast beef was tasteless and must have been lying around for weeks. no one at our table would finish their meal. i was embarrassed and had to make up a story to cover the incident. a few weeks later i went in by myself and ordered roast beef... again i got the garbage!

if i were you, i would skip this place. they should be ashamed calling this place the new york deli. i lived in new york and never had food this bad!

i have been going here for years. if your coming to live or just passing through this is the place to go. it  has been around for decades because it is that good. the prices have barley changed for thirty years, you can still buy a real sandwich for $6. this is not the foot long slop sandwich, this is real top shelf quality meats and cheeses.

a restaurant without a website or a menu. go figure. seems if the food is so good they would go to the trouble of a least posting a readable menu for ordering and take out.

great food at a reasonable price. i usually have the italian sub, and my wife loves the manhattan. service is average, nice atmosphere though. be sure to bring cash with you, credit cards not accepted.

i was in your area last thursday, and my friend highly recommended your deli, and so, on her recommendation, we went there for a take-out lunch.  i asked the man, behind your deli counter, if you made reuben's and he promptly told me "yes!"  i never thought to check the sandwich until i went to eat it, and i must say that it was not a reuben...there was no 1000 island dressing and no sauerkraut on the meat/sandwich.  i would have chosen some other sandwich if the man had simply told me that 'you' do not make reubens.  also my friend and i added potato salad to our orders, and most of the potatoe salad went into the trash...simply no flavor.  arby's makes a much better reuben...and it costs less!

must have!. my husband grew up in roanoke but we have lived out of state for over 20 years. every time we are in town, our "must have" food stop is at the new yorker. we get the same thing every time, baked italian sub with slaw instead of shredded lettuce. it is so good! (we do wish they had the old seasame buns that they replaced a few years ago) we recommend highly but don't plan in a visit over 4th of july when they take their annual family vacation break. (unfortunately we know this week well)
