i'm from new orleans and not picky about food. this was the worst dinner i've had in a long time. service was great though. i had grilled shrimp andricethinking that was safe.ricewas undercooked and shrimp was almost the same. need to change the name of the restaurant if you can't getriceright. that's what makes new orleans food what it is.

simply bad food, very over priced!. had to try this place, and i knew i was flying against the wind based on the less than superlative reviews from folks who's opinions i respect.the plain red beans andrice($10.95) was just that - plain! another dish that should be loaded with flavor had almost none.

don't let the deep purple color of the building turn you off, this place rocks the cajun dishes. the jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans andricewere excellent. the seafood trio could have been a little fresher, but the scampi sauce was heaven. hush puppies and fish and chips not bad either.

nice place, and good service.....plain, boring, overpriced food.. great service, nice people, clean restaurant... . but this is a place to eat, the food was very average, zero flavor, and for the high prices... an iceberg lettuce salad with mushy red tomatoes...was really bad. we had the blackened chicken with red beans and rice.. the chicken was very spicy hot ( good) but had no flavor whatsoever, the beans andricewas just a flavorless pile of mush. we also had the jambalaya it was just plain and had no flavor...a total waste. the prices were just too high for bad food, and to top it off.. $3 for tea.

simply bad food, very over priced!. had to try this place, and i knew i was flying against the wind based on the less than superlative reviews from folks who's opinions i respect. i can only respect them more now - they warned, i ignored that warning. this place offers up rather expensive, and at the same time, rather ordinary food at best, prepared by folks who need to eat their own cooking, while experiencing their own service, this for an extended period of time.

the fried alligator basket ($13.95) was simply dreadful. the rather small amount of alligator was over breaded and flavorless, a soggy morass of bland. the majority of the accompanying fries were burnt, yeap burnt! how does that even get out of the kitchen? these people obviously don't care about the food they serve, or the people they serve it to.

the hush puppies (side order for $2.95) were doughy with a hard, crusty exterior. the dirtyrice(side order for $2.95) was average at best, possessing little of the flavor explosion that this dish is known for. it's called dirtyricefor a reason, the chicken livers give it taste and the "dirty" color - thisricewas entirely too clean looking to taste good, and it didn't.

the crawfish etouffee ($16.95) had some decent flavor, but there was actually very little crawfish, especially considering the price of the dish, and the sauce lacked any richness, something this dish is known for. the crab cake that was added to this dish for $7.95 was decent, but way over priced for the portion.

the plain red beans andrice($10.95) was just that - plain! another dish that should be loaded with flavor had almost none. if you can't prepare this classic new orleans dish correctly, you simply don't know how to prepare this type of food. the seafood gumbo (side for $5.95) had some decent flavor, but very little seafood.

the jambalaya ($15.95) actually had some nice spiciness to it, by far the best taste of anything in this meal, but is over priced. the bread pudding ($4.95) was priced about right but was dreadful, completely overcooked and tough as leather..

terrible food almost completely void of flavor providing an expensive lesson, but at least one that i learned from - avoid this place, period!

awful. just awful.. a poor excuse for a new orleans style restaurant. the decor looks like they had a $50 budget and went to party city. not to mention the decor left over from the previous restaurant. the food was below sub par. we started with the gumbo, which was ok. it was like a brown gravy with sausage, shrimp, beans, rice, etc. i had the shrimp and grits- really plain no flavor. my fiancee had the jambalaya and red beans and rice. the jambalaya was nothing like the real thing. it had mushrooms and banana peppers, what jambalaya has those? the red beans andricewas essentially the gumbo, without the shrimp. if you're looking for cajun food, take your money and go to durham or charlotte. this place apparently doesn't know how to use the internet to look up recipes, or even look at a box of zatarans. we will never come back.

best in the triad!. i've traveled all over the united states and this has been the best restaurant by far. the atmosphere is very elegant and comforting. the decor is beautiful, masks and beads up on the wall, standing out as they should! there are hints of music throughout the place really making you think that you're dinning at a place right on bourbon street. the music playing during dinner was outstanding, very calm and relaxing, something you could carry a conversation over but enjoy at the same time! pricing is very reasonable.... maybe a little too reasonable! i felt as if i was cheating them out of money! wether you want to spell it jambalya or jambalaya, doesn't matter to me, at the end of the day i had very good food haha! but i had the jambalaya, i can not even describe how tasty and mouth watering this dish is. the chicken and shrimp sautéed together in the tomato sauce with all the spices really brings out the flavor of the dish! thericeit was served over was very good as well, haha you guys might think how good can whitericebe but i could've ate a bowl of theirricewith nothing on them! i believe it was a basmati rice, very high end and not something i expected for a $14 dish. service was amazing i have no idea what this other guy is taking about! the waitress was very friendly and helpful, my children couldn't make up their minds as usual but she stayed very friendly the whole time, something most waitresses wont do! the manager came around to ask how everything was and check to see if we needed anything, he personally got us some fresh bread! we mentioned something about wanting a tour of the building and he said he'd get the owner to take us. we were then greeted by the owner who took us on a very detailed tour answering all of our questions! i know where i'll be having all my parties from now! as any real restaurant goer knows their is a huge difference in-between a chain and a locally owned restaurant, for their 1st month to be open i was very surprised to how they had everything under control and running in order ! i'd recommend this to place to every one i know and to everyone that visits north carolina, greensboro, high point or the triad! good place to drop in as its located right off of i-40 on wendover.
