i love this place! i was looking for a healthy place to eat that had agoodselection/reviews.. so glad we went! i had the morrocan bowl and my husband had the brisket burger.. delicious vegan food! the service was alsogoodand the lavender lemonade is so good/refreshing! can't wait to go back!

september 21, 2013 by cobi | 0 comments if someone asked me where to enjoy vegan versions of all their favorite comfort foods, i’d send them to native foods cafe . from reuben sandwiches to burgers and decadent desserts,these dishes hit the spot. on this trip, i ordered the  yo amigo taco salad.  it’s a huge bowl of romaine, cabbage, native taco meat, topped with corn, green onion, cilantro, tortilla chip croutons and salsa fresca. the creamy chipotle dressing is dee-lish and alsogoodfor dipping sweet potato fries! i slurped down a cup of corn chowder and started thinking about dessert. the strawberry shortcake was irresistible. light vanilla cake and organic strawberries layered with almond cream was dreamy. my inner fat kid wanted to taste the peanut butter parfait,so i got one of those to-go. creamy whipped peanut butter filling layered between boogie bar (banana bread)crumbles and chocolate chips is crazy good. i hope the consumption of a big salad cancels out the extra calories

it's official... i like this food!. after bricking my wife's iphone a trip to bridgeport was in order (apple store). while walking past native foods i mentioned it was really quitegood"for a veg-head" place.
i ate those words... it's not just a vegan place, it is a great cafe... period! i can heartily recommend the blackened "native chicken" twister wrap, the side of their excellent lemon-dill potato salad and a side of the polenta/fire roasted corn app... wow. so flavorful, fresh and tasty! again, this omnivore recommends this place... it's just plain great food, regardless of your "head"!!

eh.... i am a dyed in the wool omnivore so this place would not normally be on my list for lunch... but when agoodfriend who is vegan says 'you must try it'...
the food is very tasty. seitan is not meat nor does it simulate meat. but it tastes good! the highlights were the perfectly ripe avacado on the sandwich and in the salad and the agave watermelon juice.
the place is immaculately clean, staffed with extremely helpful and friendly staff and truly an interesting change of pace for the omnivore.

great food and friendly staff. let me preface this by saying i love meat and wheat, soy and dairy. two in our party for lunch are gluten free eaters, though, so this was a great choice. they have their menu very clearly labeled and have lot of gf options. i am so glad that we chose this place - everything was verygoodand the service was incredible!! even though it's a walk up and order type place, we were checked on outside at least 3 or 4 times to see if we needed any drink refills or sauces.
i had the gyro, and it was very tasty, with "meat" that very much resembled the traditional greek style. my kids (who are the chicken nugget and french fry type) had the "nuggets" and pizza from the kids menu, and though i was a little disappointed in how few nuggets they actually got (meaning there wasn't enough for me to snag one), they ate them all. the pizza was verygoodas well, and they ate every bite (minus the piece i took). my companions split a caesar salad, which they really liked, and the three mini tacos. i tried one of those - the filling wasgoodbut the shell was a little stale. we all split the cheese cake for dessert. the filling very closely resembled actual cheesecake, but the crust was a little nutty for me.

great food and service. the food was sogoodand the staff was friendly and helpful. looking forward to going here again.
