pros and cons. mythos comes across like any othergreekdiner, and doesn't really shine beyond the expectations that go along with that. however, if you are a fan ofgreekfood, this may be a good spot for you to try out.

my favorite thing that i've eaten at mythos was their chicken souvlaki plate ($7.95): it came with two skewers of chicken, fries and salad. the star of the meal was the chicken, as they marinate it, keeping it juicy and flavorful. like many of their dishes, it came with tzatziki, which while good, was served in an unweildy little paper cup like you use to sample soft serve ice cream. the salad was chopped iceberg lettuce topped with diced tomatoes, rings of raw purple onion and green peppers, a kalamata olive or two, and a good deal of feta cheese - then all topped with some sort of pink (i'm guessing raspberry but i couldn't taste it) vinaigrette, that was pretty mellow as far as vinaigrettes go. their fries were kind of lousy.

i've also eaten their gyro with rice and salad ($8.45). the gyro was good without being exceptional in any way. and their rice, which is cooked in chicken broth, was not exactly bad, but i didn't enjoy it. finally, their falafel ($3.35), which is one of my favorite mediterranean foods, was a little disappointing. it didn't hold together, and so had soaked up too much oil in the frying process. it managed to be crispy but not light. i much prefer jack's corner for falafel.

mythos is a little bit confusing as to whether you order at the counter or not. the time i went in for lunch, it was slammed at 1:30pm, and i ordered at the counter, then waited until i could get a seat. the next time i went in for dinner around 6:15pm, and as i walked to the counter was asked if i'd be dining in, was directed to sit where i liked, then one of the waitstaff took my order. all of the staff seemed friendly and fairly attentive.

overall i think mythos is a bit above average, but not stellar.

we stopped at mythos grill on the way back from the coast. i was slightly surprised when i saw the building, bc it is in an odd location. however, the food was fabulous!!! the gyros are delicious and thegreekmeats were well seasoned. the service was very friendly. this a no thrills restaurant but very easy on the wallet. we would stop there again when traveling through.

fresh food, great value, excellent staff. both the food and staff at the battleground location are excellent every time. the food tastes so fresh and is a great value for the price you pay. it definitely meets, if not exceeds, other hot spotgreekrestaurants in the triad. the authentic chicken souvlaki and chicken and rice soup are favorites.

above all, the wait staff are wonderful, friendly and pleasant. as a regular customer for take-out, i've found that the staff remembers your name and appreciates when you come back. for example, i requested extra cucumber sauce the first few times i ordered over the phone (costs extra but a necessity for chicken skewers). i forgot to request it once, but came home to find they had already included it in with my order, free of charge. that to me is above and beyond customer service, especially for take-out.

they just don't seem to care, & now i don't either.. just do not understand the customer service mentality of some restaurants. they work hard to get you in their business and then seem to forget about what they need to do to keep you coming back.

we've been eating here and ordering takeout since they opened, and the food is always solid, if not spectacular, and the service has always been a little slow, especially on call in orders. we tolerated the slower service, and the priciness of some items, in the past, but not after today.

our order was phoned in at 11:02 and we were told 10 to 15 minutes. order wasn't ready at 11:15, turns out it hadn't even been started. they apparently had several to go orders, larger than ours that they were working on - though it is hard to imagine they were in house before ours since they don't open until 11 am. our order was still not ready by 11:25, and yet they were packaging up other take outs, and the owner was calmly sitting at a table, eating.

i finally ask for my money back, and was told the order was almost ready - i said i don't want the order, and demanded my money back, and finally did get it. if you tell me the order will be ready in a certain time frame, then i expect it to be ready, and not take twice as long as i was told.

the owner mentioned that they had some large take out orders they were working on. guess my 2 little sandwiches don't matter in the larger scheme of things for this restaurant. well, they wont have to worry about that in the future - this is a regular customer who will not be returning.

name has changed to mythos, same owners. this small place, maybe 15 tables & booths, is set up like a typical fast food restaurant, you place your order at the counter, get your drink & pay. this is not fast food like mcdonalds, most order are brought to the table in 10 minutes or less.

the prices are a little high:greekspaghetti with bread at $6.75, or a combo platter at $8.45, but the servings are ample. the combo platter contains a skewer of chicken souvlaki, a piece of gyro, a wedge of spanokopita, pita, tzatziki, and a doublegreeksalad - this really is enough for two.

the chicken souvlaki is excellent, moist, flavorful, and grilled perfectly, with a nice brown crust. the spanokopita is light & airy, with a nice, fresh spinach taste.the tzatziki is delicious, among the best i've tasted - they add some sour cream to the yogurt (4:1) to thicken it a little. the double salad is huge with plenty of feta & olives, and terrific vinaigrette.

the piece of gyro was the only item i didn't care for - there was a spice or seasoning in it which i didn't like, and the consistency was strange, but the gyro meat served on a pita and fully dressed is quite good. the cheeseburger here is also excellent, as is the blt and the classic club.

thegreekspaghetti was plentiful, came with meat sauce & feta, and bread. the color of the sauce was a little different, almost with some pink tones in it, but the taste was very good.

the service is excellent - they check with you to see that you're satisfied with your order, and to refresh your drink. they have a nice looking menu, with a variety of sandwiches, salads, pasta, mousaka, & pastitsio. i intend to try them all - i am a very patient person.

bestgreekin greensboro. i am a regular at mythos. for me the usual is a gyro with extra tzatziki sauce with a side of fries and a tzatziki sauce on the side to dip the fries in. the staff is friendly and attentive. the blend of flavors offered in the food is simply amazing and the quality is very high. the prices are very fair for the quality of food you get. i would recommend this place to anyone looking for the bestgreekin town.

mythos was the first restaurant i sampled, in nc- the ones to follow have a high bar to live up to! i was very hungry & ordered a lamb gyro, agreeksalad, a bottle ofgreekwine, and some hummus/pita, for later. i don't know how i passed up the baklava, because it looked delicious!

i have a long history of dining in excellent authenticgreekrestaurants, and this is one of the best, i've tried! the only detail which didn't fit my personal preference (and that's all it is) was that the lamb was sliced, almost like french fries, rather than the flat, thin slices, which i am accustomed. the flavor of the lamb is, by far, the best i've ever had & couldn't get enough of it! the pitas were fresh & warm, hummus...well, since i got it to go, will admit that i used my finger to wipe my bowl completely clean. the olives immediately caught my attention. i always buy premium, imported olives, even from thegreekpart of town, at times, but the olives in this dish far exceeded any i've had before! i didn't like the aroma of the dimitra wine, when first popped the cork, yet very pleased with the flavor.

i also want to commend the staff - very polite and smiling. it is a casual diner-type place, which although very crowded, served me quickly and well! i'm looking forward to another visit, with my daughter- will definitely try the baklava!

good for the $. if you're looking for a 5 star restaurant, this isn't it but, it is good for the money, especially if you are looking for healthier fare. the wait was a little long (i ordered takeout) but, as they cooked everything fresh, i was not surprised. i ordered the combination platter (chicken souvlaki skewer, gyro meat, and a spanokopita, with pita bread and a smallgreeksalad). that and a diet coke was around $10.00. the meats were juicy and the pita warm. the salad was crisp and the dressing was great. a small container of tzatziki was on the plate as well. the staff was friendly and apologetic about the short wait. all in all, it was a good meal... tasty and filling. i will definitely go again.

consistently goodgreekfast food. this is a great place to get a basic gyro sandwich or platter, the spanakopita isn't bad at all, but the moussaka is very ordinary, and the baklava is a bit too sweet.

having said that, there is no bettergreekfood in greensboro, nc. the acropolis is a huge disappointment (i've been there four times, each time worse than the last), and opa! was mediocre and higher priced.

the best dish on the menu is their chilcken-rice-lemon soup (avgolemono) which is fantastic. i've worked in threegreekrestaurants and mythos' avgolemono soup is as good as the best. you've got to try it.

atmosphere is classic small diner (booths and tables, plastic utensils) which i don't mind, and the staff at both the market st. and battleground locations are extremely friendly.

i highly recommend mythos forgreekcasual food.

not all that impressed. ok, i know that this place has 92% approval, and i am probably cursing by saying that i didnt think it was that great. but this was rated #2 overall on urban spoon for the entire city of greensboro, so i guess i was expecting spectacular food that just makes you say wow! i had never been, so the girl at the counter, who was very friendly, suggested the chicken souvlaki, which was #9 on the menu. she said it was the most popular menu item, so i assumed that this was what all the fuss was about that got this place to #2 in the city. excited to try it, i placed my order. what i got was just a decent piece of chicken cooked on the flat-top on top of a salad. it came with a little container of a sauce that tasted like it was cream cheese based (forgive me for being ignorant of traditionalgreekfood). it was juicy enough, and cooked fine, but i was expecting something to just hit my taste buds and create some excitement. what i got was just a decent piece of chicken. it wasnt bad....it just wasnt anything special. im not sure what all the hype is about.... the place was clean, relatively cheap, and the people were friendly, but #2 in the entire city of greensboro??? this is more like a place you go for a decent dinner when you dont have time to cook at home, but i dont agree that its one of the best that greensboro has to offer.

fantastic from top to bottom!. we finally had the opportunity to dine @ mythos the other day and boy were we impressed. the food was very reasonably priced and everything was delicious. we ordered the hummus and pita bread as an appetizer, i had the combo platter with a side ofgreekrice, and my wife had a veggie pita wrap and everything was amazing across the board. i love that they offer a whole wheat option in the pita bread! the service was fantastic as well as they had some of the most friendly, down to earth staff (from the owner. who made a point to stop at every table to say hello and assure everything was to expectations, to the server, and down to the bus boy) that i have ever seen. definitely a place i could forsee us becoming regulars at!
