you know when you eat at akoreanrestaurant and they’ll supply you with 1 or 2 free banchan side dishes with your food? well myeongdongkoreanrestaurant in north strathfield has become legendary in reputation for providing the most amount of free banchan in sydney. as soon as raff and phuoc have arrived, we immediately order and a whole flurry of banchan dishes are quickly placed on our table, covering ¾ of the surface area. it truly was the most amount of free banchan i have ever seen! standout favourites was the thinly sliced fishcakes and surprisingly the spicy radish kimchi. oh and did i mention that they’ll happily refill any of the banchan? such value.

wish i discovered this place sooner!

best place forkoreansoups or stews as they have many choices to choose from. great for if you're feeling for something soupy.

askoreanrestaurants are generally not cheap, you can be assured that you get large portions of whatever you order here. it'll be great value for what you're paying 😊⁣⁣

great environment, great service, great food.

dishes: kimchi pork stew & bibimbap

i had the pork kimchi stew with rice and i have to say it is one of the most flavoursome stews i have tried compared to most otherkoreanrestaurants. the broth is insanely flavourful. there is an abundance of kimchi inside with few pieces of rice cake and pork. the pork bits were bits of pork belly, however, they may have been boiled in the soup too long as they were a little chewy and tough to eat but their flavour has definitely added to the broth for that umami boost. on the other hand, the bibimbap offered a nice soft flavourful bite when mixed. the meat was thin yet full of flavour.

perhaps the most intriguing part of the experience is the amount is side dishes that comes standard with the meals! there were a total of 12 small side dishes (banchan), each offering a different flavour perspective from the standard kimchi to potatoes cooked in akoreanbase. if the main meals do not fill you up, the side dishes are sure too!

the service was quite nice with a polite waiter reserving the seats as we initially waited outside the restaurant. once inside, service was quick both the menus and the delivery of the food, once ordered.

overall the myeongdong north strathfield offers a pleasant dining experience for couples, friends or family.

one of my favourite genuinekoreanrestaurants to go to in sydney. i love their spicy pork bone soup and it is always one of the must get, the pork bones are so soft and tender and comes right off the bone. the broth is so flavourful. they also have multitude of great side dishes with free refills! i come here every week and their food is always consistent. i also love their seafood pancake, shrimp potato korakke, pork cutlet, crispy or sweet & spicy fried chicken, and their stir-fry are also pretty good.

they have friendly staffs, where one of them know that we are frequent customers and became our friend. highly recommend this place, however, get here early on the weekends, the queue and wait time can get quite long around dinner time.

amazingkoreanrestaurant with generous portion sizes and heaps of side dishes. have never been to akoreanplace that serves 12 side dishes, and you get unlimited refills too!

we ordered their popular spicy pork bone soup and seafood pancake and i can see why they are the signatures. the pork was nice and flavourful, and super tender. and the soup was not overly spicy. the seafood pancake was the best i’ve ever had! it was slightly sweet, very crispy and the seafood was so fresh!

the staff were also very nice and friendly. can definitely see why this place is so highly rated!

my favourite place forkoreanfood!!
an amazing selection of sides (my favourite is a sweet/sour fresh tomato dish with onions. it’s my lucky day when they have it!).
the pancake is always crispy and packed full of ingredients.
i can’t go past ordering the pork bone soup either as a single portion or the big hot pot version.
the bossam is a bit pricier than other restaurants, however it is well worth it and would highly recommend for groups.

so many free and delicious side dishes! try the premium bone soup and is absolutely worth trying. the rest we ordered are very traditionalkoreanmain. but we feel the staff is not that friendly when they clean the next table, may be too busy so they are exhausted...

myeong dong has become my go-tokoreanrestaurant, despite not being a huge fan of paying forkoreanfood due to use of a lot of processed ingredients. the quality of the food and the 12 free and refillable side dishes is what sets them apart from otherkoreanrestaurants in the area. the main dishes are definitely on the pricier side and service/communication of staff can be a hit or miss. i’ve visited them 3 times and have enjoyed all the food ordered, my favourites are the prawn croquettes and seafood pancake. portions are generous, which is what i expect with the cost i have to pay.
