this afternoon, my mom accompanied me to my first fitting for my bridesmaid gown for my cousin's wedding (this coming june), and found ourselves wandering around the ongpin area. since we were a bit hungry, we decided to eat at mr. ube before going home.

we had the following for sharing:
✔ canton style noodles (php 180) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
their version of pancit canton had generous toppings that had a great variety, ranging from vegetables, pork slices, chorizo, chicken liver, and shrimps! 😍 the noodles are cooked in a saucy way, and is not too mushy (which is usually the case for chinese noodles). the serving size was big, good for 2-3 persons. a yummy merienda for an affordable price!

✔ pork and shrimp siomai (php 60 for 5 pieces) - ⭐⭐⭐
their siomai was underwhelming, as the meat was not that firm and the wrapper was soggy. quite disappointing, as mr. ube is supposedly a chinese restaurant. their chili sauce was a good addition to the slightly bland dimsum dish, though.

✔ ube custard crazyhopiashake (php 85) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
eng bee tin's custardhopiain shake form? 😨 i initially thought this shake might have a weird texture, since i'm imagining that it might have the flakyhopiacrust in it. 😅 but it was yummy and oh so creamy! the milk and ice cream did their magic. it really does taste like the custard hopia, which i am a big fan of. it's definitely a great drink to beat the heat this summer. 😍

the place is quite small, and there is nothing notable in their ambiance. service was just okay, the server kept forgetting to give us what we need and went back and forth just to be able to give us our plates and utensils.

overall, food is good and generally has good value for money! 😋

mr. ube is owned by eng bee tin, which derived from their best-selling item then, thehopiaube. mr. ube started selling asian fusion noodles and some dimsum before expanding to rice meals and chinese snacks.

i love their raddish cake because of the rich flavor. try their lechon macau. for noodles, the sukiyaki and maki noodles for me.

probably one of the most sulit casual chinese restaurant ever! :o

❤️ the place

it was huge but, always packed! i can't remember if there's one time that we went here with a little customers. aside from the bright purple interiors, they have, the store beside the restaurant that sells their famoushopiais always a block buster to the crowd. hehe!

❤️ the service

they were really friendly and always on smiles! :)

❤️ the food and price (can't remember the price sorry! :( )

lechon macau - really crunchy and not fatty at all! best paired with their sweet and sour sauce!

beef with ampalaya - i wonder why thins is included on their menu. but never the less, it's tasted good! what i love here is the sesame flavor it has!

sweet and sour chicken - crispy on the outside, while retaining the juiciness inside!

lomi - i literally said woooow when they served that to us. it's gigantic!!  the big bowl over there is not just a big bowl. it's a deep big bowl! that's why we weren't able to consume that one even we are 4 adults and 2 kids. there's a plus as well, not it's just gigantic, but it tastes really nice! that thick creamy chinese style lomi with chunks of meat were indeed flavorful!

❤️ the verdict:

for those who are looking for great tasting food, huge servings and yet affordable, better check mr. ube! :)
