bad meal. i had a fish, mushroom, and risotto dish, fish had bones in it, mushrooms were like biting into cartilage, waitress was fair at best and asked to have another drink after we had paid bill, if ok with them, so that we weren't taking a table they needed and it took so long to take our order that we just went to the bar. not impressed, won't be back.

home sweet home. i love mother's even though i haven't been in a while...i plan to go again tomorrow and eat at the bar like i usually do. the service at the bar is great...they know what i want when i sit down and when my glass gets low they fill it....the food is excellent. i love the house salad and the house wine anything else is a bonus. sometimes there is room for dessert and it is truly a treat when i see the pear tart on the menu. i love the variety...it can get crazy at night because there is a big crowd but that is to be expected. when it is light the music is light as well so i don't know what people are talking about not being able to speak to the person next to you i have never had a problem.

bwhaaattt????. mmmmmkay. went there for a late dinner on a friday night. many obnoxious lawyer types shouting over each other at the bar, with an equal number of implant chested, 40 something, recently divorced women. drinks ok.

tables were full, so reservations were necessary. seated about 15 minutes after our reservation. our waiter appeared drunk/high or naturally braindead. he could have doubled for a jersey shore castmember. while taking our orders he thought it was ok to switch our orders to what he thought we would like. our plates were only cleared when the main course arrived and our waiter forgot to bring our bread, while he was joking in the kitchen. he had an obnoxious habit of soft punching everyones shoulder after a poor joke. he spilled ice everywhere while refilling our waters. he even started hitting on one of us right in front of her parents. very disrespectful. the steroids seemed to have eaten his brain away.

now to the food. we had mussels and ribs for appetizers, which were very good. scallops, steak, stuffed pork chop and the perch fish fry for mains. all were very good to excellent.

mediocre and left disappointed. had dinner here the other night, and was expecting another wonderful experience like i've had in the past. i really love this restaurants and have had some of the best meals of my life eating here, but unfortunately that wasn't the case this past weekend. we made reservations for 9:30 and had to wait about 15 minutes before our table was ready (which was fine) because it was super busy. when we were seated no one came to great us or take a drink order for about another 15 minutes, so a man who looked like he worked behind the bar or in the kitchen or something quickly took our drink and food order at the same time when he realized no one had visited us--it's like our table was forgotten. i just felt like our table wasn't given the time of day for the whole meal, more like i was eating a meal at a fast food restaurant. not quite the mother's experience i was looking for, especially considering it's relatively pricey. we weren't paid attention too, were rushed and ignored, and had a mediocre meal. the salad dressing was way to bitter to the point that i couldn't take more than a few bites, and my steak was just so-so.

sad to say that i can no longer speak of this once beloved place with such high esteem after this poor experience :(

rude hostess. i frequent mother's and has had great experiences. this time however the hostess was very rude, cold and uninviting. we understood that there wouldn't be any seating available at the time but we overheard her telling two people before is that there wouldn't be anything available until 8pm (a half an hour away) and offered them free cocktails. but with us, she was very callus and told us nothing would be available until 10pm and walked away! the food is great but i was very disappointed to say the least.

one word... rude! i had dinner reservations for 8:00 and when i walked in at 7:50 i wasn't greeted by anyone except for a bunch of older men giving me dirty looks! it was so awkward i stayed for only 15 more minutes and then i had to walk out. i felt so unwelcomed. hopefully they can hire a host/hostess so i can actually try their food soon

have gone before. the food is good but the service is slow even on a slow night. tried calling tonight for a reservation and was created by a pretty rude host, who actually huffed and puffed as i was trying to see when i could be fit in. then i was hung up on immediately as soon as i stated i'll call back. i am not sure what exactly is going on but i don't think i will eat from here again.

i have reserved writing this review for awhile because i believe every business can have a bad night, but i see a pattern and will no longer patronize this business. service has been lackluster three out of three visits. one of the visits was on a weekday when the restaurant was much slower. on the second visit we had reservations yet still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. the server took quite awhile to come and get our beverage order. we had to ask for bread that never arrived. when we finally placed our order the server and/or kitchen got the order wrong and my guest had to wait an exorbitant amount of time for the correct order. no drinks were comped nor we were offered an appetizer while we waited for the corrected item. this past sunday 3/26/17 three of us sat at the bar to order drinks and food. we were served bad clams and when we brought this to the attention of the bartender he replied, "well i didn't cook them, what would you like me to do?" seriously???!!!! what type of an employee in the service industry returns a food complaint with a response like that? with that, we asked for the check, paid the bill and left. the clams were taken off the bill but this was the final straw. they are three for three on bad service and food. in western new york we have far too many phenomenal restaurants to put up with such service.

my favorite spot for a drink. the food is delicious but you will be spending a lot of money, it is worth it for the wonderful atmosphere and service. i usually get a bunch of appetizers, yum!

birthday dinner. this used to be my absolute favorite place to have a girls dinner night. my birthday was about a month away so i called and made reservations- there was a total of 8 of us. they said that would be absolutely fine! well the week of the dinner i called again to double check that we were still on. everything was running smoothly. then the day came. we show up for our dinner only 7 came- 1 was sick- they charged us $35 .00 for the ill person. they were quite late to seat us 25 minutes to be exact. good was not worth the price. and i've never said that! when the bill came they put it all on one check and refused to break it apart. this place put a damper on my night. no customer service, you're food isn't the best anymore so stop acting so snobby

highly recommended!!. omg amazing! ! i've never been there before. i got a peach martini. .. excellent. shrimp fritter app, i don't like seafood but it was bomb. then i got the rib bye steak 18oz... to die for and my bf got salmon which he was drooling over. staff was great too. definitely highly recommended and i'll be going back...soon!!

terrible experience! rude hostess!. i reserved a dinner for 8 with mother's after calling around several other places and not being able to get in. when i made the reservation i was told that they needed a credit card to reserve a table for parties over 5 people and that the number needed to be guaranteed or i would be charged $20 per person! feeling like i had no other option i agreed to this. 2 people from our group cancelled last minute so i decided to go in at 7:30 for our 8:00 pm reservation to speak with the hostess and let her know and then wait at the bar for my group. she was very short with me and obviously annoyed. i told her i understood the policy but we were going to have a full dinner for 6 people and anything she could do would be appreciated. she again was less than pleased. luckily at the end of the night they did not charge me as we spent over $200.00 but that policy is ridiculous to begin with. the worst part was that after we sat down, ordered our drinks, and were looking at the menu, one of our group was running late. it was about 8:15 when the hostess came over to our table and told us that she heard we were not ordering yet but recommended that we hurry up and order soon as we only have the table until 10 when another group is coming in and she needs this table back. we had not been sitting for hours ordering nothing so her saying this was a total shock. and the restaurant was far from packed. i have never had a hostess come to a table with a large group of people who are obviously going to spend money come over 15 minutes into dinner and tell them to hurry up. needless to say we were all very uncomfortable. the waiter was nice and we ordered as soon as he came back. the food was nothing special. at 9:30 we asked for the check as soon as possible since we had been told we need to leave and the waiter advised us that the hostess was able to reassign that large table so we could stay as long as we want - um no thank you! i do not want to spend another penny here and i never will!

terrible experience. everything we ordered was boring and bland. the service was absolutely horrible. we ordered an expensive bottle of red wine and the waiter got cork in it when he opened it. when i commented on the debris in my glass he said nothing and just poured more wine in my glass. our waiter was miserable and the food was so disappointing. we will never go back to mothers. with so many delicious places to eat in buffalo, don't waste your time and money at this overrated restaurant.
