5* food, 4* service. thefoodwas beautiful and extremely tasty, pork gyoza was incredibly tasty, dessert of toffee pudding was out of this world! service was attentive when they were concentrating on you but when they weren't they were easily distracted. i would recommend this place to even the pickiest foodies. a must attend in napa!

fun dining experience. morimoto was an exciting place to see. i love watchingfoodnetwork, so i was stoked when my boyfriend and i planned a trip to napa valley and i realized morimoto had a restaurant there. the service was promt and the decor was really cool. sushi was very good (ingredients were fresh and the menu items were creative), and the umi carbonara was out of this world. only downside was that it was really loud; fun for a group of people, but not a quiet date night.

morimoto is a great restaurant. not good, great. brilliant, innovativefoodserved professionally in a beautiful room alongside a river in the napa valley. hard to imagine anything else you would want except great company, and i had gail and sigrid. that’s a perfect night.

emperor morimoto has no clothes! there, i said it. simply put, this celebrity chef-owned eatery is overpriced, thefoodfar overrated by critics and foodies whose judgement seems to have been impaired byfoodnetwork indoctrination, culinary fusion fads and fame worship. the sushi we ate here was standard issue, and morimoto's interpretation of "ramen" takes a perfectly good japanese classic and turns it into something resembling a small portion of vietnamese pho, minus the goodness that usually defines pho. the neo-zen design of the place is interesting upon initial approach, but quickly becomes pretentious. make no mistake, what customers are paying for here, whether they admit it or not, is a celebrity brand and bragging rights, to boast to those back home that "i ate at a place owned and named after a real iron chef!" i say save your cash for the napa wine tastings, or seek out better, local culinary creations at half the price at any number of places in the valley.

thefoodwas excellent, and the staff was very friendly. i was a bit disappointed in the atmoshpere however. it was very loud and difficult to have a conversation. the prices were high, but that was expected.

morimoto needs work. my husband and i had dinner recently at morimoto. it was a bizarre experience. the space is lovely minimal clean modern styling but noisy with so many hard surfaces. the tables for two are too deep so you are too far from your companion. hard to talk. service was less professional than you would expect. we ordered champagne and they put it on ice away from the table and then neglected to remember to refill us so we had to keep asking. the server was nice enough, but very casual, and didn't seem attentive enough. to the food. a mixed bag. the first appetizer was the squid ink gnocci which was literally two gnocchi, two tiny pieces of squid stuffed with some kind of green and a scattering of dried olives on the plate - there was nothing to eat! then, contrary to that, my husband ordered the pork chop which was about 4-5" thick and enough for 3 people! what's wrong with that? it was just a too big hunk of meat. you expect something a little more creative when you're paying this much. the reinvented "carbonara" was delicious and i enjoyed my duck/duck/goose dish but it came lukewarm at best. i think that morimoto has become a brand and no longer really cares about thefoodin his restaurants - its all about the name, sadly. be warned, the prices are high for a casual, loud, mediocre meal!

it's eclectic japanese fusion fine dining. thefoodi had was good, but you do pay for the name and ambiance and it wasn’t really that worth it.
